A Note from the Supervisor What an exciting new year at Zhangde SCC! This is when we see many new students joining our centre. It is our great joy to welcome you all into our family. The first two months had been so busy for the new comers especially the P1s as they needed to adjust to the new “home” here in SCC. We saw how parents needed to let go of their babies as they take a giant leap from kindergarten to primary school. It is a privilege for us to be trusted by parents to take care of their children after school. We have strived to make SCC a home away from home by assisting the students in their homework and provide Character Building Programmes to reinforce the school values, and also our own signature Enrichment Programmes to develop various skills. So, let’s keep up the positive growth going with the coordinated efforts of the school, home and the student care centre. We hope to continue in our mission of touching lives and lifting spirits, planting seeds in students’ lives in the hope that they will one day become servant- leaders and beacons of their own community.

What to do with Crayons?
“The vibrancy of our imagination”
We kicked off Term 1 with a light- hearted activity. Introducing to you: having fun with crayons. Unlike the typical colouring, this activity aims to boost the students’ imagination and deliver their ideas on paper through the use of crayons. The students had loads of fun in this activity as colours put vibrancy in their imagination. During the March Holidays, a special instruction was given: to use colours to express their emotions. This was also a great opportunity for students to show care and concern towards their friends by sharing the crayons and helping one another with their drawings.

“YMCA ZDSCC at Snow City”
Beat the heat of the summer, go to Snow City!!!! During the June School Holidays, ZDSCC students cooled themselves at Snow City. But before zipping on their jackets and braving the coldness to enjoy the many activities installed for them, students were invited to participate in the educational workshops. Through these exciting lecture demonstrations and hands-on activities, we hoped to inspire students’ interest and curiosity in Science. It was indeed a unique experience for our students!

Habits of the mind In addition to the set of values taught every term, a special theme was introduced during the holidays. While we are interested in honing students’ cognitive and affective areas, we are also keen on imparting good habits and practices to the students. S
