What if we rip off that pocket area? The trend of urban development that is focused on the main pathway causes the formation of “backward areas behind these pathways and decreased space productivity. The backward area is an isolated residential area, surrounded by a dense wall of roadside shopping buildings. Therefore, it is necessary to re-develop or rebuild from the backward area by considering the opportunity to live from the local population, justice for all residents and prospective residents, and equal opportunities for all parties to access the space. One of the backward areas in the strategic area is the Banceuy area which is the design area. This design answers the issue of the principle of correspondence (law of correspondence) and Pluralism.

Undergraduate Final Project - Porosity in Pruralism: Mixed Used Redevelopment at Banceuy, Bandung
Main Issue
Aries Fadli Prayoga Portfolio Selected Works 2015-2019
The design of this final project applies the design concept “Porosity in Pluralism” which is realized to the design of the type of unit applied for diversification, expansion, and zoning of location grouping. Besides that, the building also has communal, transitional, and spatiotemporal areas to trigger mutualism interactions between residents. The orientation of the building leads to the river with the design of the site plan concentrating the green open space on the edge of the river. Masses of buildings are formed porous with communal functions on holes in the masses. The height of the building is also designed terraces in order to adjust the city’s network in the Banceuy area. For commercial areas, it is designed to be oriented outward adjusting the potential of shadowing of mass formation.

Shear Wall Structure Plan and Dilation
8
Dilation is given to each curve of the mass and given a balanced reinforcement using the shear wall at the core of the building.
Division of mass structures using dilation
Structure Map Condemnation
After being separated by dilation, each mass is bound with deflection so that when displacement occurs, the dilation is able to accommodate shifting of the structure.
Condemnation is divided into joists and main beams with a grid structure of 8x6 m and 6x6 m columns (tower section), and 8x8 m (podium sections).

What if we remove the fences ? The process of population urbanization is a problem that inevitably occurs in a city. Slum problems, gaps, crime, traffic jams, and so on. It is the impact of a city that is unable to accept the increase in population moving to the city. Bandung city is one of the biggest cities in Indonesia. The flow of urbanization to Bandung city reached 0.5-0.7% of the total population which was registered in the city of Bandung. So it is necessary to increase the density of a city, in this task the author increases the housing capacity in the Sukaluyu area. Usually, area redevelopment uses gated community norms to make a housing area more exclusive. This project is trying to redefine the form of housing to be more inclusive and permeable. Is it possible?

What if modern meets traditional ? Located in Sunda Street, one of the main street of Bandung. Included in commercial and industrial zones. This project aims to design a place that will later become an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city. The goal of this task is to design public buildings on urban infill land by having good passive air circulation.

What if the river is the new highway ? “The river, which should have been the beginning civilization, has begun to be forgotten. The street becomes the main attraction in the city. The city sees the river as the backyard. Could we redefine the river as a new highway? So the river could become the frontage of the city.” The city of Bandung has a linear pattern allotment, formed since the beginning of the growth of the city center. This forms a residential area into pockets which are sandwiched between productive functions. This “back” area is uncontrolled and productivity decreases. The back area is an isolated residential area, surrounded by a dense wall of roadside shopping buildings. This bridge is expected to be a new anchor to attract visitors on the main road.

The existing form of the bridge tends to “cover” the view from the river view which is quite slum
Adding public space under the main circulation adds to river exposure.
3
Add the function of a water transportation stop on the lowest level of the bridge.
Add Ramp to make bridges more inclusive.
River Disfunction Cikapundung River dividing Bandung into 2 sides. The 28-kilometer stream cuts the center of Bandung City. The total area of the river is around 154 square kilometers or 15,400 hectares. The river crosses 11 sub-districts in two districts and one city, namely Bandung City, Bandung Regency, and West Bandung Regency.
Pocket Area The city of Bandung has a linear pattern designation, formed since the beginning of the growth of the city center in 1856. Furthermore, this linear pattern developed more rapidly when there was penetration of land in the city center in the form of trade/service activities. This causes residential areas to be formed into pockets which are located sandwiched between productive functions. The tendency of city management to be focused on the city’s main lane makes this “back” area growth uncontrolled and productivity decreases.
Scarcity of Public Space The back area is an isolated residential area, surrounded by a dense wall of roadside shopping buildings. In its growth, the enclaves of these settlements turned into slums and formed social inequalities in the city. In addition, informal housing development without proper planning results in a lack of open space in an area.

What if the river is the new highway ?
Giving multiple functions to the bridge can make the bridge a new anchor for the region. Bridges still overshadow the main function, namely as access to river crossing, but the provision of additional functions, namely open space and bus stops add to shaded activities, thus giving people a reason to come to the bridge. The bridge is a building of microsized compound functions that can provide a catalyst effect for the region, namely the interaction, small-scale trade activities, the use of the river as a tourist so that it also increases public awareness of the river, as well as public transportation in the form of boats that can minimize the use of private vehicles so give effect to traffic and reduce carbon emissions resulting from movement activities.

Housing
New Anchor The bridge is currently the only link between RW 3 and RW 8 of Kampung Braga which is very strategic. RW 3 is near the Cikapundung Market and Banceuy Street. RW 8 is near Jalan Braga. Because both of them are in the Bandung Economic Strategic Area, they both have a dependency relationship.
Meeting Space This bridge will play a very important role in connecting the two crossing areas bordered by the Cikapundung River. Activation of bridges with public space, economic space, and transportation space will trigger interaction so as to develop undeveloped recreational socio-economic-economic activities. Bridges As Water Transportation
32
Transportation can be analogous to the blood vessels of a city or other units of civilization. Rivers with sufficient dimensions can be used as transportation routes. Giving the function of transportation in the river can provide a reason for the government and the community to treat the river. The river becomes a negative space because it is not given a function. The provision of transportation functions on the river also offers new experiences for users, so that it can also become a tourist attraction.

This bridge is functioned not only as crossing access, but also as open space, as well as bus stops for boats which are the modes of t ra n s p o r t a t i o n . Giving additional functions makes the bridge interesting to visit, which is able to make movements and other activities. Accommodating various activities on the bridge makes the river no longer a negative space for a city.

Building Micro Houses with a participatory approach to humanize humans.
What if everybody is the architect ?
Competition - Archevent 2017 - Microhouse - Dari, Oleh, Untuk
Why Participatory Approach?
Ownership Building Tools
The participatory approach is used to replace the caricative system which makes the people who are helped do not have a sense of ownership of their own homes. So that the house that has been given to become a commodity for resale.
The participatory approach is crucial in shaping a revitalization of slums that have a sense of ownership in the new home. This can be realized because residents are involved in forming their own homes, both during the design period, and the period of use.
Incremental
Easy to Construct
Cheap
Participatory Concepts. Participatory concepts are realized in incremental designs and buildings with simple construction. So as to be able to produce a micro-housing design that is livable and can support the needs of its residents, and can adjust to the needs of each occupant to foster a sense of belonging to the house.
Ownership can be formed by personal adjustment of each resident to his house because each house has a difference that is identical to its owner. This adjustment can also be used to support the needs of each diverse population The incremental design is focused on the ground floor so that its development can be more diverse. For example the ground floor can be used as a food stall or food.
Mass Transformation
Land Use 12m²
Accommodating incremental designs
Response to tropical climate
With a 12m2 site area limit the mass is formed as a simple turning to maximize the volume formed.
Ground floor coverings are eliminated and accommodate development by residents in accordance with their needs.
Mass changes on the roof respond to the climate of the city of Bandung which has 2 seasons. Asymmetrical trapezoidal shape was chosen to maximize the roof space so that it can be utilized as a room.
Aries Fadli Prayoga Portfolio Selected Works 2015-2019
Incremental: Adjustment to needs
Making Legal Moves
According to local regulations, there are no permanent building built along the river bank without certain setback.
We have to relocate packed the settlement in legal land, since land area can’t be changed.
But, the most comon way to develop this kind of project is charity approach.
Charity approach often not able to create the sense of ownership to the relocated settler.

What if everyone meets in one place? Starting from a transverse meaning which has a meaning of meeting point. The meeting point of each line that connects one another. Dukuh Atas is a very strategic place and can shade pedestrians. The formation of these lines creates a building that has the role of a line that intersects and produces a meeting point that can be called the Jakarta Transversarium.

Other Works It consists of what I do during college outside the class and studio, such as: Makinh Logo, Poster Design, Photography, Merch Design, etc. From the beginning of the college life, I was quite interested in the business world so that it encouraged me to work with several friends to open Yash Apparel, which sells merchandise to new students. During my studies I also often sought additional income through mockups, illustrations, and digital painting. On the side of the campus organization, I am involved in several activity units, namely TEC, Ludruk, and Stema. In the architecture association itself I had the opportunity to become the chairman of Gaung Bandung 2018.

Here I have the opportunity to realize my idea to bring together the designer and the user. From this meeting I hope that dialogue and exchange of ideas between the two parties occur, because in the real world the designer is only embodies the dream of the client and often forget who ultimately uses his work is the user.
The user, is a human who utilizes the work of architects. They come from various backgrounds, generally what the designer hears is the majority. Here, Gaung Bandung provides a platform where the designer is able to hear what is needed by the user in order to realize the design results that can be utilized by various parties.
