Foreword
หลายๆครั้งที่ได้เห็น ได้ดูรูป หรือแม้กระทั่งได้ถ่าย ภาพถ่ายในตอนกลางคืนอย่างเช่นภาพถ่ายพลุ หรือ ภาพถ่ายไฟกลางคืน แสงไฟจากรถยนต์ที่วิ่งไปมาทำ�ให้ เกิ ด แสงสี แ ดงและสี เ หลื อ งนวลตั ด กั น จากทั้ ง สองฝั่ ง ถนน ภาพที่อาศัยความสวยงามของไฟเหล่านี้ล้วน ทำ�ให้ภาพเกิดความน่าสนใจได้อย่างประหลาด จนกระทั่ ง วั น หนึ่ ง ที่ ไ ด้ มี โ อกาสรู้ จั ก และศึ ก ษา ภาพถ่ายแนวLight Painting ในคลาสเรียน ได้มี โอกาสดูผลงานภาพถ่ายจากรุ่นพี่หลายๆคน ที่มีความ สร้างสรรค์แต่กต่างกันไป แต่รู้สึกว่าภาพแนวLight Painting ของคนไทยที่เห็นมันดูง่ายเกินไป จึงเข้าไป ค้นคว้าข้อมูลในโลกออน์ไลน์แล้วก็ได้พบกับแรงบันดาล ใจมากมาย ในหลายๆรูปแบบ ทั้งแบบง่ายดายและซับ ซ้อน ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง จึงเกิดสิ่งดลใจให้เกิดการศึกษา เกี่ยวกับภาพถ่าย Light Painting อย่างจริงจัง จน กระทั้งได้มีโอกาสทำ�หนังสือเล่มนี้ Light Up the Darkness จึงเป็นหนังสือที่ผู้ เขียนได้รวบรวม สร้างสรรค์ และทดลองเทคนิคต่างๆ เกี่ยวกับ Light Painting โดยใช้เวลารวบรวมกว่า 6 เดือน จึงออกมาเป็นหนังสือเล่มนี้ ผูเ้ ขียนหวังเป็นอ่านยิง่ ว่าคุณจะได้รบั แรงบันดาลใจ และความอิ่มเอมในการเสพภาพการสร้างสรรค์ที่รอให้ คุณได้เปิดดูอยู่ภายในเล่ม.
Every time I look at photos from magazines, photos books, or photos taken myself at night time I find them very interesting and beautiful. I am intrigued by the result of the light sources that can create so many colors and effects. For example, the photos of fireworks, photos of lights at night time, or the lights from the cars on the street. One day, I had a chance to learn more about Light Painting in my classroom and saw some samples from many seniors who are very creative. Everyone had their own style and creativity. I found that most of Light Painting images that were created by Thai people seemed too simple, so I started to do more research online. I found much information and saw many amazing works that were created by talented artists. It inspired me to study more about Light Painting and have an opportunity to produce this book. For this “Light Up the Darkness” photo book project, I used different kinds of light sources and tried many techniques to create interesting effects. It took me more than 6 months to complete this book, and I really hope that you will enjoy and get inspiration from my dedication and endeavor. Light Up the Darkness

สิ่งที่ควรมีในการถ่าย Light Painting
What will you need for Light Painting?
• กล้อง DSLR • ขาตั้งกล้อง เพื่อทำ�ให้ภาพนิ่ง และเพื่อป้องกัน การสั่นไหวของภาพ เนื่องจากภาพถ่ายแนวนี้จะ อ่อนไหวมากกับแรงสั่นสะเทือน • รีโมตชัตเตอร์ หรือสายลั่นชัตเตอร์ สำ�หรับควบคุม การสั่งถ่ายภาพในระยะไกล • อุปกรณ์ที่ให้แสงสว่างต่างๆ อาทิเช่น ไฟฉาย ไฟเย็น ไฟLED แฟลช และอื่นๆ สำ�หรับการนำ�มาประยุกต์ และ สร้างสรรค์ภาพ
• A DSLR camera • A tripod for keeping your camera steady • A Remote shutter or remote release for long distance control or use self-timer • Light sources, such as a flash light, sparklers, LED light, flash or other equipments that can help create an interesting result • Darkness either a darkroom or at night time Light Up the Darkness

เริม่ ต้นทีป่ รับโหมดกล้องไปที่ M คือแบบแมนนวล เพื่อที่เราได้จะสามารถควบคุมกล้องได้ตามต้องการ หรือในกล้องบางรุน่ อาจจะมีโหมด B มาให้เลย โหมด นีเ้ หมือนโหมดแมนนวลทุกประการ แต่ตา่ งตรงทีเ่ รา สามารถกดชัตเตอร์คา้ งไว้นานเท่าไหร่กไ็ ด้ตามต้องการ สำ�หรับกล้องทีไ่ ม่มโี หมด B มาให้ดว้ ย ต้องไปตัง้ ค่าตรง สปีดชัตเตอร์ให้กลายเป็น Bulb
Use a manual setting, in order for you to have more control. Some cameras might have “B mode” setting which is the same as Manual. The difference is that you can press and hold the shutter as long as you like. For cameras that don’t have a B mode, you must set the speed shutter to Bulb.
ค่า F stop หรือค่ารูรับแสงถือเป็นองค์ประกอบ หลักในการถ่ายภาพ เพื่อการควบคุมแสงในการถ่าย ภาพไลต์เพ้นติ้ง ลองเริ่มจากการเซตค่าไว้ในระดับ กลางประมาณ F11 แต่ทั้งนี้การปรับลดค่า F stop จะขึ้นอยู่กับไฟและอุปกรณ์ที่คุณใช้ด้วย หากไฟสว่าง มากก็ควรปรับค่า F stop ให้สูงขึ้น
The number of F Stop or aperture is very important for Light Painting. You should start around F11 but it ultimately depends on the light source you plan to use. If it is very bright, the F stop should be a low number.
ISO เป็นส่วนสำ�คัญในการควบคุมการรับแสง ของกล้อง ยิ่งตัวเลขสูงมากความอ่อนไหวต่อแสงใน ภาพก็จะเพิ่มมากขึ้น แต่ยิ่งตัวเลขสูงก็ต้องระวังเรื่อง ของnoise ไว้ด้วย เพื่อหลีกเลี่ยง noise เราจะตั้งค่า ISO ไว้ต่ำ�ๆ อย่าง ISO 100 หรือ ISO200
Use low ISO numbers to ensure the camera picks up on the low light source. This will also help to prevent your images from getting any distracting noise or grain, (which can lower the quality of your capture).
Focus Point ในความมืด กล้องจะไม่สามารถโฟกัสได้ดีเท่าตอน กลางวัน ดังนั้นควรปรับไปที่ Mannual Focus หลัง จากที่ใช้ Auto Focus ในการโฟกัสเรียบร้อยแล้ว ในเมื่อเราไม่สามารถมองอะไรเห็นใน view finder วิธีที่ง่ายที่สุดในการโฟกัสคือ ใช้ไฟฉายเล็กๆ ส่องเข้า มาที่หน้ากล้อง ในตำ�แหน่งที่ต้องการโฟกัส ปรับเป็น Auto Focus แล้วให้คนที่ถือไฟฉายเลื่อนไฟฉายไปให้ ตรงกับตำ�แหน่งโฟกัสในกล้อง ในระยะที่ต้องการ เมื่อ กล้องสามารถจับโฟกัสได้แล้วจึงปรับไปที่Mannual Focus เพื่อล็อคโฟกัสและป้องกันภาพเบลอ
The camera cannot focus as well in the dark than in the day light. You should also set it to manual focus after using Auto focus. You cannot see anything in view finder, so the easiest way is to use a small flashlight and shine it at the camera where you would like to focus. You should then change to auto focus and then ask the person to move the light to the position where the camera is focused. Once the focus is correct, change to Manual focus to lock it and the image will be cleared.
หรืออีกวิธีหนึ่ง หากคุณมีไฟฉายแรงๆ อาจใช้คน หรือสิ่งของที่อยู่หน้าเลนส์เป็นระยะโฟกัสไปเลยก็ได้ โดยการส่องไฟฉายไปที่จุดๆนั้น เพื่อให้กล้องสามารถ จับจุดถูกต้องตามต้องการ
Another method if you have a bright flashlight, is to use an object or a person as a focus point. Point the light to that object and find the focus point where you want it.

How to.. Step 3 ตั้งค่ากล้อง อย่ายึดติดตามค่าที่ให้มาด้านบน ควรดูตามความเหมาะสม ในภาพตัวอย่างตั้ง ISO ไว้ที่ 400 เพื่อเก็บบรรยากาศท้องฟ้าข้างหลัง ใช้ Manual focus เพื่อความคมชัดของภาพที่จะได้ออกมา For the camera setting, do not follow the sample above. Use a setting according to your location and surrounding areas. In this image, setting ISO at 400 will help keep Step 2 อุปกรณ์ที่ใช้ในการเหวี่ยงไฟคือ Steel Wool ยัดใส่ลงไปในที่ตีไข่ และผูก the background of the sky behind. How to.. Step 1 หาอุปกรณ์ไฟที่มีลักษณะเป็นแท่ง ที่มีลักษณะไม่ยาวจนเกินไป อย่างเช่น ไฟแท่งคอนเสิร์ตที่มีความยาวประมาณ 6 นิ้ว Use light source that is thin and not too long, such as LED Glow Stick. Step 2 ใช้คนในการเป็นแบบให้กับงานนี้ ให้คนไปยืนอยู่ในตำ�แหน่งที่กำ�หนดไว้ Use a person, and make him stand in the location you want. Step 3 เมื่อตั้งค่ากล้องพร้อมถ่าย กดชัตเตอร์ แล้วก็เริ่มด้วยการนำ�ไฟแท่งพัน ไปตามตัวคนที่เป็นแบบทีละส่วนเหมือนกับวิธีพัน Mummy จนครบทั่ว ทั้งตัว เวลาทำ�ควรให้ไฟแนบชิดกับแนบมากที่สุด เพื่อจะได้ไม่เกิดช่องว่าง ระหว่างพัน After setting and getting ready, press the shutter. Then use an LED Glow Stick to circle around the person one section at a time (like a Mummy) from head to toe. Make sure to circle around close to the body with no gap between the circles.

Step 1 เตรียมไฟ LED ที่มีความสว่างสูงในการทำ�ภาพนี้ Use a bright LED light for this image Step 2 กำ�หนดท่าโพสต์ของคนที่มาแบบเพื่อความสร้างสรรค์ Design an interesting post for the model to do. Step 3 เมื่อกดชัตเตอร์ ให้คนที่เป็นนแบบโพสต์ท่าค้างไว้ ให้นิ่งที่สุด Ask the model to hold still when you press the shutter. Step 4 นำ�ไฟLED มาหมุนด้านหลัวตัวแบบเพื่อให้เกิดเงามืดดังภาพ Use the LED light and circle behind the model to create a shadow like in the image.
