Welcome back to another issue of Yogurt! I’ve been intentionally making space for more art, more friends, more experiences, and more CULTURE! Thank you for picking up this issue and reading through it! I really appreciate seeing the different members of the community around me, who each love Yogurt in different ways - old friends have so many great ideas for contributions, and new friends ask me to autograph the issues they own. It’s a great feeling for me knowing that I’m a part of this project that’s bigger than myself, and I hope that reading this issue brings you as much joy as I got from creating it!!

Anything evoking an extremely minimal color palette - not only black and white, but varying degrees of one tone. This entails focusing on one concentrated aspect of a subject. Ruducing an idea through minimalism, reducing an idea down to its bare essentials, reducing the chroma down to only what is necessary for the eye to recognize objects. This is the nature of...

rt is a reflection of the artist. Whether through realism or abstraction, art is an extension of an artist's own perspective and identity, and artists are constantly looking to more accurately portray how they view and feel about the world around them. There are many elements to art, and all can be used in as many ways as there are artists willing to experiment. For instance, an artist creating a work of art decides on a subject and will subsequently produce a specific
composition using some or all the elements in art (line, shape, form, space, texture, and color, etc.) depending on what they are trying to depict. An artist can just as effectively depict emotions through lines as one can with color. However, for some none of these elements are as immediate to evoke an emotion as color. Color is so universal, we are exposed to it everyday and it affects us whether we realize it or not. The difficulty is there are so many varying interpretations of color across cultures,

one cannot solely rely on color alone to accurately portray one's view. By incorporating other elements of art in concordance with color, the viewer gets a more accurate portrayal of the artists meaning. So the way an artist decides to use color or the absence of such, affects an entire work. As artists, we are looking to consistently balance all of our elements to draw in our audience and make them understand a specific point of view. Personally, I love color - the more, the better. I use it
in my art whenever I have the opportunity -- but I also like a challenge. When I was given the task of creating a piece of work specifically in Monochrome, it was a challenge that I took headon. I viewed it as a chance to get out of my comfort zone; to grow and expand my abilities, and to portray my view not solely through the use of color, but by incorporating other elements to compensate. In doing so, I hope to move closer towards communicating my vision of the world.

What would it be like to fade into the great sea of light and color? Sunlight, and the wings of doves, and the thin linen worn by a maiden are all pure white - these surfaces reflect light of each and every color visible. And so I ponder the feeling of being dissolved and borne on the wind, like the light bouncing off the wings of a white bird. I wanted to capture that notion in a short tale of a young woman and doves.
