APPREN TIC E SH IPS Partner with York College to embed apprenticeships in your training and development plans to reskill/upskill existing staff or attract and recruit new talent into your organisation. York College can support you in developing your staffing strategy by supplying high-quality apprenticeship training. This could be identifying existing staff members to reskill, upskill or recruit new talent into the organisation. Apprenticeship programmes and their funding, whether that be for levy paying organisations or non-levy paying organisations, can enable your training budget to go further, whilst supporting key skills gaps, with high-quality, on-the-job learning. York College can bring learning and earning together to deliver a skilled workforce for you.
LEVY PAYERS: With the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy by the Government, employers with a payroll of over £3 million are now required to contribute to the Apprenticeship Levy Fund, whereby money is set aside to supply the business with their apprenticeship provision.
NON-LEVY PAYERS: Businesses not paying the Apprenticeship Levy (business payroll under £3 million) are eligible to receive a 95% contribution towards the cost of the apprenticeship. All businesses employing 16-18 year olds are eligible for a generous incentive payment from the Government. Whichever category you fit into, York College can help you develop apprenticeship programmes and provide guidance to access funding to help develop the skills you need for your workforce.
WHO CAN BE AN APPRENTICE? Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 and over, not in full-time education, employed for over 30 hours per week and who meet the minimum academic entry requirements. Therefore, apprenticeships are not just for new starters, they can be accessed by both new and existing employees to gain new skills and knowledge. As a partner for your apprenticeship delivery, York College will support you to access funding, ensure that high-quality apprenticeship delivery standards are being met, carry out workplace progress assessments and support. We will also organise the apprentice’s End Point Assessment which allows them to achieve their qualification.

We offer placements across all business sectors. They are typically full day placements over 5-6 weeks on the same working day each week. However, if you require a different working pattern, please speak to the Work Placement Team who will be able to advise, support and help to accommodate your desired model if possible.
NEW 315 hour placement for T Level students - excellent support package offered York College has been selected to offer T Levels, a new twoyear Level 3 technical programme that will sit alongside apprenticeships, A level and Level 3 vocational courses. As part of this programme students will undertake a 315 hour work placement with employers in the various sectors. This work placement could be entirely focused around a project the employer would like to complete but has never had the time or resource to commit to, or it could be completing tasks associated with the sector in a supportive capacity. Alternatively, the placement student could be shadowing others within the organisation and learning how to undertake key tasks. The delivery of the placement is highly negotiable and in-line with your business needs. Whatever your plans, a placement student will benefit your organisation.
