Introduction While the world struggled through the tragedies and restrictions of 2020, many people found happiness through a range of creative outlets. The digital space inspired me and many others to constantly create, share and admire the talent which radiated from creators around the world. Online communities became their own support systems, especially when individuals began new business ventures. I hope that through 2021 and years to come, the creative industry remains active and supportive in this way — after all, this magazine would cease to exist without it.

Charlotte Tiong UNTITLED

2020 | SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

Here are some of the personalised and customised digital drawings I create for my clients in my spare time. I offer two different styles with many variations of delta levels that customers can choose from, catering to their needs, likes and requests. This makes the design process authentic. I create these digital drawings using

Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. I deliver them in digital files for personalised wallpapers or printed versions for delivery and pick–up. Finding my own style of digital drawings has been a lot of fun, as I love creating custom pieces for people and seeing their reactions — it is one of the highlights of my design journey.

Sarah Annett FYKIAPHOBIA

2020 | MONASH UNIVERSITY

This design was created for a brief about phobias. I decided to illustrate Fykiaphobia, which is the phobia of seaweed and open water. I chose to make it a pattern for both wrapping paper and

fabric. This is to illustrate the fear and feeling of being wrapped up in seaweed. Yet, at the same time, by making the pattern fun and colourful, it’s no longer intimidating or scary like real seaweed.

Susanna Thibbles FASHION ILLUSTRATIONS

2019/20 | DEAKIN UNIVERSITY

Created on Photoshop, these illustrations explore iconic fashion moments in history. These include Anastasia Karanikolaou’s infamous tennis set from Chanel and the iconic Met Gala look by Rihanna. However, now I have decided to follow a new path

within the fashion industry by showcasing fashion within our very own country and the people in it. This is created with a series of fashion illustrations of bloggers, influencers, stylists and even just the average person within our very own country.

2020 | UNIVERSITY OF WOLLONGONG

Orana Centre is a local health centre based in Wollongong. It focuses on assisting and working with individuals who may need help with problems relating to drugs and/or alcohol. The Centre’s major problem that was defined in the early stages of the project was that their interior space and visual identity was not engaging visitors in a way that made them feel:

-Welcome to be in the space. -Welcome to return and continue their journey to better health and wellbeing. This concept was proposed in June 2020 and is currently being evaluated by Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).

Print Design The freedom of print design allows individuals to create magazines, zines, posters and annual reports which convey a strong message to their audience. These formats are utilised to make a statement on an issue or topic, or to merely present business information in an effective manner. Either way, print design provides freedom for designers to communicate information creatively and innovatively.

An experimental publication project designed for the text The Interplay of [In]visibility by Pamela Salen and Jane Connory. The text discusses the issues faced by women in the design industry,

such as lack of representation and often the invisibility of women in the field. The design of the publication aims to communicate these issues through visual storytelling.

Photography The advancement of photographic technology, alongside industry trends, has rapidly shaped the way people use cameras and the format in which they shoot in. The powerful nature of new phone camera technology has given more people access to high quality camera tools. Moreover, the popularity of film cameras has surged amongst younger people in recent years, therefore encouraging a fresh perspective on the technique.

Charlotte Tiong RITA REVIVE KOMBUCHA

2020 | SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

This project was for Photography and Art Direction; a University assignment in which I collaborated with the talented fashion student, Alessia Brancatella. Together we created a look embodying a young, fit female character representing my fictional Kombucha brand, Rita Revive. The project required me to create a campaign for a drink of choice and present it in three applications: an Instagram post,

a billboard and a poster. Being full of antioxidants and probiotics that sustain a healthy immune system and cleanse the body, it is a great morning drink to boost energy levels. The campaign highlights Rita Revive’s traditional brewing process, targeting females aged 16–35, who drink Kombucha to sustain their energy and start their day the right way.

2019 | MONASH UNIVERSITY

I chose to create this typography for the Melbourne psychedelic band ‘Baked Beans’ (now known as the band ‘Beans’). I made messy typography using tomato sauce and a whole lot

of mess to depict the vibrant, psychedelic, fun sound, and aesthetic of the band. It was a lot of fun both designing a record sleeve cover and designing typography by hand.

Art Art, while representing a broad range of disciplines, allows artists as a whole to utilise their specialised skills to convey the meaning and emotion into their pieces. Colours, textures, perspective and composition affect the way art is perceived and received, allowing artists to explore all avenues of their imagination.

Madison Little DAYBREAK

My name is Madison Little and I have created this range, Daybreak, as a momentum of this state of isolation. Just as no two people are the same, either are two art pieces. These works of art are dedicated to my never–ending love for the ocean

and the coast, which is where I draw a lot of my inspiration and colours from. The free–roaming and flow of the paint symbolise the need to let go of control and to just let things happen.

The theme of these artworks is getting undressed. This concept represents an unveiling of our sexual side. While it’s becoming more acceptable to talk about, there is still a stigma and taboo

when it comes to openly talking about sex. These paintings are about being able to express our sexual desires, behaviours and thoughts without feeling shame, judgement or that it’s wrong.
