Personal checks may be made out to Young Life, with "WA30 — Sean McDonald" on the memo line, and sent to: Greater Olympia Young Life PO Box 931 Olympia, WA 98507 Young Life is a charter member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) and has maintained that membership through a yearly review of its compliance with the ECFA’s standards.
Young Life was incorporated in 1941 by Jim Rayburn, a seminary student and part-time youth minister in Gainesville, Texas, who wanted to reach out to kids disinterested in church. Rayburn went where kids were and found creative ways to share the love of God with them. His methods continue to transform lives today.

"I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people and I will be their God." — Ezekiel 11:19-20, NIV
AREA OVERVIEW
SEAN’S STORY I came to know Jesus as a child while attending Westminster Chapel in Bellevue with my mother. Because I grew up in the Church, I was very active in youth ministry and the student leadership teams; however, I didn’t fully understand what it meant to be a follower of Christ. I believe that is why as I finished high school, I drifted from the Church and also my relationship with Jesus. As I started college, I removed myself entirely from church and found myself more and more unsatisfied with my life. It was during this time that I decided to stop attending Community College and started working full time. After a couple of years, I was invited to be part of a YWAM (Youth with a Mission) school in Montana. It was there that I found my joy in life through serving the Church and remembering my passion for growing and loving the Church. After my time with YWAM was finished, I returned home to Bellevue and started working with students at Westminster Chapel. During this time, I was encouraged to receive formal schooling for pastoral work and shortly after was accepted at Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. Over the next four years, my spiritual life grew and flourished as I studied theology, biblical studies, exposition of Scripture and homiletics. Since graduating from Moody, my wife and I have returned to Washington and attended Rainer Avenue Church. We participate in a community development ministry and work with others in our church to live out justice and peace, as Christ did in our community. For the last five years, I have been the director of a non-profit organization in Seattle — Street e Roasters. Street Bean was a job training program for homeless youth seeking permanent, stable employment and housing. While working there, I was faced with the tremendous challenges that youth faced when they weren’t supported by their families or communities, particularly when they didn’t have a life-changing relationship with Jesus. I hope that this time will shape and inform how I do contact work and communicate the gospel with Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater students.
