EditorsLetter Welcome to the June Edition of Your Child in Whittlesea, Oh no, Winter is here and the days are getting colder and there is more rain and windy weather! With weather like this, I do enjoy snuggling up with the kids under a warm blanket, for a family movie or a nice hot cuppa and a good book. It is also a great time to get out the jigsaws, Lego and board games to entertain, while the weather is miserable outside. Winter is the perfect time, for Family Time. The magazine this month has some great reading, on page 6, you will find Ways to warm up your Winter! There is an entertaining article about High Fashion at the Flea Market, on page 18 and Finding yourself in Parenting, can be found on page 14. On page 26, you will find a interesting article on benefits of ‘Bush Kinder.’ This month Hanging with Hannah is doing another throw back to the Orchard Road Playground in Doreen. The park is an amazing place to take the kids for some fresh air, when you have been couped up inside for too long. We have been fortunate so far this year with some lovely Winter sunshine. Hanging with Hannah can be found on page 10. Kids Corner is on page 24 and has a Fun Winter Colouring In to do and if you are feeling like some nice warm soup - in Kids Cooking Time this month Mini Chef William is making Yummy Pumpkin Soup, on page 25. Why not give it a try with the kids! What’s On this Month - The City of Whittlesea are again hosting their World Environment Day Event and for all other events head to What’s On page 24. Orchard Road Park Orchard Road, Doreen

20 This month, Hanging with Hannah is doing a through back to a playground in Doreen. This park has lots of interes ng play equipment to oﬀer all ages; including swings, slides, climbing frames, ﬂying fox, a cargo net, spinners, li le in ground trampolines, a musical pipe xylophone and a small climbing wall. And if that’s not enough Hannah found some old logs to prac se her balancing on. The park has a shelter, BBQ, tables, chairs, 5 park benches (to sit on while watching your li le ones play), a water fountain and bins. However, there are toilets at this park. Hannah said, this is her ‘new favourite park’ and did not want to leave. Hannah has since made many visits to this playground.

Pumpkin Soup with William Ingredients 1.5kg Peeled, seeded, chopped pumpkin 1 Onion, ﬁnely chopped 1 Litre Vegetable Stock 1 Cup cream Tsp grated or ground nutmeg Freshly ground black pepper, to taste Extra Cream/Sour Cream and Chives to garnish

Method Step 1 - Peel and cut pumpkin and onion. Step 2 - Place pumpkin, onion and stock in a large saucepan. Step 3 - Bring to the boil, heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Step 4 - Once cooked transfer mixture to a blender, in batches, and puree. Step 5 - Return to the saucepan and s r in cream, nutmeg and pepper. Step 6 - Cook un l heated through, serve with fresh crusty bread and cream/sour
