Hi & welcome to our March Issue!! We're almost half way through the first term of school and boy has it gone fast! The transition from Primary to High School has so far been an easy one for our eldest son Cooper. He is up and out some mornings before the others are even out of bed. Ollie has regressed a little with his drop off and wants a big hug which usually turns into a teacher prying his tightly wrapped arms from my neck. It’s heart breaking and the look on his face fills my morning with a nice dose of mother guilt! Max, our middle son, is now in grade 6 and seems to be enjoying being in the senior level. He is a Buddy to a new prep student and he was also voted in as a house captain and wears his badge each day with such pride! So far not a bad start to the year although we still get at least one of them telling us that school is boring or they feel sick and should probably stay home! Inside this issue is some great reading that may relate to you and your family. With a range of topics that provide some helpful tips now that the kids are back at school, eco friendly projects to try with your kids, information on the Makers Month at the Yarra Plenty Regional Library as well as recipe for Persian Herby Fritters for you to try out – just to mention a few. We also stopped by one of our favourite parks in Viewbank that you are going to want to visit - see page 10 for Out and About. In Kids Corner this month we have instructions on making paper planes - something our boys never seem to get bored of making! This month is also the time for the annual Arty Farty Festival and Twilight Sounds in Heidelberg. It’s always a fun weekend. It starts off with a concert on the Saturday night before the Sunday parade down Burgundy Street leads everyone to the festival and fun at Sills Bend. It's a fun filled weekend not to be missed! Plus there a few of our local schools having their annual Fetes - you can find the details on our What’s On on page 29 I really hope you enjoy this issue. Out and About
PRICE PARK - Lyon Road - VIEWBANK I come across this park by chance many years ago and it has since become a park that we revisit often. Not only is it great for the kids but there’s also a fantastic fenced dog play space that Louie, our excited Golden Retriever, loves visiting and socialising with other furry friends. So it's a win for all our family - 2 and 4 legged! The main playground structure has 2 sides linked by a walk way, landing & stepping stairs. Both sides have a slide and different climbing options suited to older or younger kids. In this area there’s also a fireman pole, rocking car, standing spinner, climbing web and swinging basket. Further on there is a huge rope

climbing frame leading up to an enclosed slide - it’s amazing and over time all 3 boys have mastered it. Another section has a natural climbing stepping stone of rocks and stumps. There’s a basketball ring, swing set with 2 swings and tracks for walking or riding a bike or scooter. Plus table and chairs and a covered BBQ area with toilets close by. The area isn't fenced but its set back from the road so this really wasn’t an issue for us. There are plenty of trees around to get out of the sun and remain shaded when the sun is out. This really is a worthwhile park to visit - ticking all the boxes for a fun adventure out and about in nature!

In The Kitchen
Persian Herby Fritters Ingredients 2 cups chopped parsley
1/2 tsp turmeric
2 cups chopped baby spinach
2 tbsps flour
1 cup chopped dill
Salt and pepper
1 chopped coriander
1/2 tsp baking powder
5 large eggs
3 tbsps vegetable oil
2 tbsps chopped walnuts (optional)
Great for a quick & he althy dinner or sc hool lunches
Method 1.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
2.
In a large bowl beat the eggs and add flour, baking powder, turmeric, salt and pepper.
3.
Add the herbs and chopped walnuts to the egg mixture. Mix well until all nicely incorporated.
4.
Brush baking dish with some oil. Add the batter and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is set. Transfer to a cooling rack.

Cut into bite size pieces and
