editor’sletter This month, I wish all dads a happy fathers day and I hope you enjoy the special articles on celebrating fatherhood in this issue. If you are a brand new dad we have an article especially for you called ‘Dads are New Parents Too!’ We will have a new dad in our family this month and Graham and I are ever so excited about welcoming our second grand child into the world. Our daughter knows that she is having a boy but won’t tell us his name so we will just have to wait. While we all spend more time indoors during colder weather, scientists have realised that it is not so good for us as we can become depressed if we don’t spend enough time outdoors enjoying nature. They have even given the condition the name, Nature Deficit Disorder. If you need a nature boost, look at the activities and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in this month’s What’s On pages. The article on camping may even inspire you to spend part of the school holidays camping. There are many camping parks around Victoria within a couple of hours drive. It can be especially fun to share the adventure with another family or two. As the weather warms up, I am looking forward to spending more time having outdoor adventures with my grand daughter Aaliyah in the many wonderful parks around the City of Hume and reporting on them for you. We both loved the amazing Golden Sun Moth Playground in Craigieburn. I have included some photos of the park and some of the families enjoying the facilities on my Adventures with Aaliyah page. Kids Corner I was so happy to receive mail from some of our readers and I especially thank Ahmet from Broadmeadows who wrote to tell me that he loves the Hume Library and visits every week to borrow books. Nikhil from Roxburgh Park wrote to tell me about his school and all the great activities he gets involved in there. Nikhil believes that his school is the best in the world. Ellie and Harry love going to the park in Craigieburn with their dad and Mia wrote to say that her favourite place is her couch where she cuddles up with her mum.
