Editor’s Notice Board Welcome to the February 2016 issue of Your Child in Whittlesea! A Very Happy New Year to all our Readers! As we begin another year, we have included interesting articles related to “Back to School” as well as “Valentine’s Day” in this issue. In addition, we have featured the Whittlesea Council Immunisation Sessions 2016 Schedule on page 17 and the complete 2016 schedule for the Yarra Plenty Regional Library Story Time Sessions on page 24. As mentioned in our last issue, we begin a new era at Your Child in Whittlesea as I pass on the baton to a new editor in 2016 - a new year and a fresh perspective. We welcome our new editor, Teresa Weir, and wish her all the best in her new role. During this transition, we would like to assure our readers and advertisers that we are committed to ensuring that the handover is as smooth and seamless as possible. As the founding editor of Your Child in Whittlesea, I would like to thank all our advertisers, our readers and those in leadership positions in our community who have supported this magazine from its inception in 2013 and continue to do so year after year. Commencing at 25 flexible hours per week, increasing to meet demand Duties: • To resource and support our team of family day care educators • To monitor the education and care provided to children • To liaise with families • To network, represent and promote Kids Matter family daycare • To uphold our rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standard Requirements: • A Diploma in Children’s Services (minimum) • Experience in an approved child care service (Family day care experience desirable) • An understanding of the National Quality Framework and its application to family day care • People skills - friendly, professional, empathetic, respectful and motivational advocacy for the right of every child to receive high quality education and care • Able to work unsupervised, make ethical decisions, mentor, ask advice and research information • Able to contribute to and enjoy the benefits of our flexible, professional, supportive Resource Team • Able to support and resource educators to manage a quality home based child care service and successful business • Must be of good character and hold current certification and qualifications as specified in the national regulations • Recent criminal record check and working with children check • Drivers licence and own roadworthy car essential
