What is it? Funding of between £250 and £750 to support small projects and activities.

Do you have a ‘good idea’? Maybe with friends or neighbours that involves bringing new people together and also makes your community a better place to live? Your project should link to one or more of the following themes: A Safer Newcastle – Projects that help tackle crime, anti-social behaviour or the fear of crime. Health and wellbeing – Projects that have a positive impact on improving the health of people who live in your neighbourhood. Skills and employment – Projects that focus on employability such as training, work experience, confidence building or volunteering. Environment- Projects that have a positive impact on the environment where you live. Think about recycle, reuse, reduce and active citizenship. Children and Young People – Create new opportunities for children and young people who are harder to reach, to help reduce isolation and increase participation. Anyone Can Apply To be a Positive Person, you just need to get together with one or more people from your local area and plan a Positive project. Apply by completing the application form. Be prepared to complete your project by 31st March 2018. We’d also like you to be willing to attend an awards event with other Positive People in Newcastle. Priority will be given to small groups and individuals who have not received Positive People Positive People funding in the past. Page 2 of 5


Projects must:

 Be between £250 and £750  Open to new people to get involved including YHN tenants or of benefit to YHN tenants  Take place within your ward or neighbourhood and be open to anyone in the community who wants to take part  Fit one or more of the themes (A safer Newcastle, Health and Wellbeing, Skills and Employment, Environment, Children and Young people)  Be completed by end of 31st March 2018  Make a record e.g. photos and receipts and complete a brief monitoring form  Continue after the funding has finished  Support equal opportunities and challenge discrimination  Projects must be completed by the organisation applying for the fund  Applicants must be available to attend the awards event

Application Process

You just need to 1) Read the ‘Things to Consider’ list below 2) Come up with a project idea 3) Applications can be completed and emailed to positivepeople@newcastle.gov.uk or sent in by post to 4P’s, Room 34, Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE1 8QH by 29 September 2017. 4) All applications will be checked against the criteria. (Priority will be given to new groups and organisations who have not received 4 P’s funding). 5) Projects will be notified of the outcome both successful and unsuccessful. 6) All successful projects will go forward to a public vote (online or paper)

What is my good idea? A name for my project? Does it fit one or more of the themes? How much money will I need and what will I spend it on? Can I do it in the timescale? Who am I going to involve and how will I let people know about my project? Is my idea open to anyone? Will my project have a lasting legacy? Can I go to the Awards Event? Page 3 of 5
