About Newcastle Homes

The aim of Newcastle Homes is to assist people to access affordable housing in Newcastle upon Tyne. Each week Newcastle Homes will advertise properties on behalf of Newcastle City Council and Registered Providers (Housing Associations) giving applicants increased opportunity to find a home.

Bidding for Properties

You must have an application registered with Newcastle Homes in order to be able to place a bid.

You can place up to three bids per week but you don't need to use all three.

Available properties are advertised weekly. New properties are listed at 12:01am on Thursday until midnight on Monday.

Some properties may be subject to additional criteria, such as a need for an adapted property. If additional criteria applies, you will need to meet the criteria to be considered.

Being the first or last bid doesn’t matter; it’s down to your eligibility and time on the housing register.

Your Homes Newcastle

YHN manages and monitors the Allocations and Lettings Policy on behalf of Newcastle City Council. They also have a health team, provided in partnership with Health and Social Services, which assesses any housing needs you have because of your health and welfare.

Offices and City Council Customer Service Centres. The teams have a range of responsibilities, including all aspects of managing estates and supporting customers in their homes.

Support & Progression Team

Can help you stay in your home. Our aim is to prevent homelessness and help people sustain their tenancies.

We also support young people and families in Newcastle be helping them manage accommodation and providing them with the advice and support needed to live independently.

Housing Plus

Provides properties designed for people over 55, including apartments, bungalows, assisted living and extra care schemes. Café, hairdresser and other amenities make living easier, alongside Ostara 24 hour response, access to individual staff support and opportunities for social interaction.

Safe Living Team

Aims to tackle and reduce anti-social behaviour by supporting victims and taking action against those who cause problems for their neighbours.

Newcastle Furniture Service

Is available when you take up a tenancy with YHN. They will supply you with items of furniture for a weekly payment that is added to your rent. YHN also provide a garden care service to YHN tenants.
