Welcome to Teams everyone! Teams is a new workplace where we can collaborate, share ideas and questions and prepare for our colleagues, currently over at the Council, to join us in the next few weeks. Everyone in YHN will soon be starting to use Teams in their service, so it will become pretty familiar very soon and I’m sure everyone will get the hang of it. ICT will also be offering some training sessions in the coming weeks and months. Once our colleagues from the Council arrive, everyone from the Enquiry Centre will be added to our site to join in the conversation and share useful information.

Help if you need it… Just a reminder of how you get into Teams - you can access it via the intranet homepage. Click on the waffle in the top left-hand corner (it looks like nine dots forming a square) and then select the Teams icon which looks like this Once you’re in Teams you’ll see ‘YHN – Prj – Call and Enquiry Centre’ on the left-hand side. This is our Team. Click the link and join in from there! To help you use Teams there’s a demo and video training link in the tabs along the top. The ‘Conversations’ bit works a lot like WhatsApp, but please give me, Jackie, Eve or Elaine a shout if you’re not sure what to do.

What’s in Teams and how can I use it? Use the ‘Conversations’ tab to ask any questions, particularly if you have any comments or suggestions about our team expanding and how we can welcome our new colleagues. For any specific questions you have about the Enquiry Centre review or the formal TUPE process, please come to me directly as we have a separate process for this. We’ve also put some useful videos in the ‘files’ section just as a reminder about YHN’s new Business Strategy Destination-22, which will be launched in April, and our values so that we are all up to speed with this.

Be a Buddy… I’d also like you to use Teams to let us know if you would like to be a ‘buddy’ to our new colleagues. We’d like some staff to act as a friendly face for our new colleagues to help them settle in and feel comfortable. We all know it can be really daunting starting work in a new place. As a buddy we’d like you to be someone that your new colleague can come to ask those questions that people need to know. Things like: What do people do for lunch? How do I work the printer? How do I book a day’s annual leave on Kelio? It would be great if some of you could volunteer for this and when our colleagues arrive we’ll pair you with a new colleague. If you’d like to volunteer just add your name to the list on the Excel document called ‘Be a buddy’ (in the ‘files’ section). Please do this by Monday 25 March.

Getting to know us… One other thing we’d like to do to help our new colleagues settle in is provide them with a bit of an online team profile, so that they can learn a bit about us as individuals and start to get to know us, and we need your help with this! We’ve created an Excel document (in the ‘file’ section) called ‘Meet my team’. This week please go in and add a few bits of information about yourself. You can add as much or as little information as you like, and it doesn’t need to be anything too personal. I’ve already done mine for you to have a look at and follow as an example if that helps. Please can you all do this by Friday 29 March. But don’t worry if you don’t manage to do it by then with your shifts, please go in after this date and add your information on as we can add to the online team profiles as we go.

That’s all from me for now... I hope you find this Team useful and just give me a shout if you have any questions. Thanks everyone, Rob
