What started out as a simple family shoot with their son Cooper and their horses, developed into an unexpected proposal which Brook would never forget. It was right at the end of the photoshoot when their friend and photographer, Justin suggested they capture some couple shots – so Brook was surprised when, after finding the perfect spot under some willow trees, Nathan unexpectedly popped down onto one knee and proposed. “I couldn’t contain my excitement, and of course I said yes! To have these special seconds caught on camera, I am forever grateful that I get to relive the moment,” she says. “Little did I know Nathan had reached out to Justin to arrange this all behind the scenes.” Originally encountering each other through a large group of mutual friends in the Southern Zone Rodeo Circuit, it was the Professional Bull Riding held in Sydney in 2015 where Brook and Nathan actually met each other properly. Both born in Canberra, it seems they crossed paths many years earlier through a mutual horse racing friend, but neither could recall it, being that they were very young at the time. Following their engagement on 23rd November 2019, their plans for an October wedding the following year were pushed back to February 2021 due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID. “I am not one to think about things for too long, and can make hasty decisions,” says Brook, “so the time we had to plan our wedding was certainly enough for us to plan our day.”

With a wedding day theme of ‘one big party’, Brook and Nathan both knew what they wanted their day to look like for themselves and their guests, so their decisions were quick and easy. When it came to choosing their wedding suppliers, their ceremony venue at Elm Grove Canberra was first and foremost, as they knew it would ‘set the mood’ for the rest of the day. “I already knew which photographer I wanted, because Mel had captured my cousin and friends’ weddings,” she says. “After meeting Mel at her studio and discussing our plans and options, Nathan and I both walked away feeling right at home, knowing we had selected the right person for the job!” Brook’s particular vision for the flowers had to be altered slightly due to the change of date affecting the availability of her chosen Natives, however she says, “my florist was incredibly helpful, and I let her take the reins.” Their table decorations and gifts for their guests were easy – they again knew what they wanted, so just had to source them. And Brook knew as soon as she saw a wedding dress hanging on the rack, on her first day of looking in bridal shops, that it was going to be ‘the one’ before even trying it on.

it was the best decision ever
Apart from COVID, probably the most stressful part leading up to their wedding day, was the weather, with torrential rain forecast for the whole week. It rained throughout the day before their wedding, as they set up the reception venue and got the horses and Harley-Davidson’s ready and continued into the night. “I remember waking up the next morning hearing the rain and needing to make a call on which venue to use for our ceremony,” says Brook. She remembers looking at her phone and seeing that the forecast estimated a break in rain right at 4pm when the ceremony was due to commence – so she decided to take the risk. “It rained in the car on the way to the ceremony and then literally stopped as soon as I got to Elm Grove,” she says, “ it was the best decision ever.” Luck was on their side that day, with the rain holding off for the rest of the night. Most of Brook and Nathan’s guests were quite local, with her mother and her husband travelling the furthest, from Mildura in Victoria. “I was lucky enough to have three out of four grandparents attend our wedding, which was incredibly meaningful for me,” says Brook. “Sadly, Nathan couldn’t have this same experience.”

A few short months later, Brook lost her grandfather. “The photographs which captured him at our wedding is something I will cherish forever” she says. With Brook and Nathan giving their photographer, Mel, only one to one and a half hours for photos, before heading straight to the reception, she made every second count! “I remember Mel was completely packed up and we were heading out the gate of Elm Grove to go to the reception,” says Brook, “when Mel realised, I was driving the bus full of our wedding party, she pulled over, ripped out her camera, and grabbed a shot while in hysterics trying to work out why the bride was driving a bus on her wedding day.” Mel also managed to capture two of the most memorable moments of their day. “First, the look our son, Cooper, gave me just as I was ready in my dress,” says Brook, “and then secondly, when Cooper walked down the aisle and gave Nathan the biggest hug.” After their beautiful ceremony at Elm Grove, they continued their celebrations at Goolabri. They had such a great experience that they used the venue again a few short months later. Their guests really enjoyed the day also, commenting that it was one of the most fun and relaxing weddings they had been to. “This was all that we wanted,” says Brook. Before long, Brook and Nathan were headed to Ibis Eagle Hawk for their ‘first night’. “I know everyone talks about it, but until you experience it yourself, I don’t think you realise just how fast it really does go,” she says, wondering where the day went.

The next morning, they enjoyed breakfast with their family and friends, and then headed off to start their honeymoon in Port Douglas. Their Lagoon access room at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort was “absolutely gorgeous”, says Brook. “We could literally step off our room balcony into the water.” On their return they spent a few extra days at Lake Crackenback, where they relaxed with massages, kayaking and mountain biking. Brook’s wedding advice:
“You can only control the controllable. I found not getting stressed about anything meant we enjoyed the day we had planned and longed for. Sometimes it is okay to say no, at the end of the day, this is your wedding! Once you decide on the dress, venue, flowers etc., and it’s locked in, don’t procrastinate. Commit and don’t continue the search, move on, something else will always take up space in your mind. Otherwise, you will second guess every decision you make and afterwards you will always have something you could have done, bigger or better.” “Your wedding is one day in your life and whilst it is very important, how you spend the rest of your life together is where people will judge you. People won’t remember the dress you wore, the flowers you chose or even the time the bar tab was cut off, so lift each other up and back each other 110%, every time”.

Originating from the same home town of Tehran, two strangers, Sahar and Salim, travelled separately to the other side of the world and found their love of a lifetime – in each other. They first became aware of each other while attending ANU in Canberra. Initially they would regularly get together with a group of friends, but then Salim asked her out, and their relationship flourished. A year later, as they travelled back to Tehran together to visit their families, Salim proposed to Sahar. “Traditionally, we celebrate the engagement in the bride’s home with the families, which involves many gifts and delicious food,” says Sahar. It was such a memorable night for both of them that they decided they would also love to have their wedding in Tehran, surrounded by their family and friends. 2020 didn’t quite pan out as expected though. “The pandemic ruined our plans!” She says. “In November 2020 when we found out that we weren’t able to travel to our country, and we weren’t even sure when the borders would be open again, we sadly decided to celebrate our wedding here in Australia, in the absence of our beloved families,” she says. Having their wedding set amongst the spectacular natural environment, surrounded by bushland and lakes, offered some consolation to the couple. The beautiful outdoor location of Redbrow Garden had everything they dreamed of. Beautiful green trees and grass, a lake, and a covered deck – perfect for their country style outdoor wedding.

The guests who were able to attend were mainly from Canberra, but a few travelled from Adelaide, Sydney and Newcastle as well. Forty guests in total, they all enjoyed Sahar and Salim’s country styled wedding, which also had some traditional celebrations added in, seeing as it was the Persian New Year on the same date as their wedding. Having planned a beautiful outdoor wedding, the one main concern that plagued their thoughts in the lead up to the wedding, was the weather. “In the week prior to the wedding, we started worrying about the rainy weather forecast for the wedding day, and the forecast did not improve getting closer to the day,” remembers Sahar. Deciding to take a positive stance, they instead started thinking that this could be what makes their wedding day special. With the weather starting off as cloudy during the morning, showering during their ceremony, and rainy throughout the night, their positivity was vital. “When we talk about our wedding, we talk about how the raindrops on our white umbrellas made our ceremony so romantic, and how the cloudy weather with some showers made the photos so beautiful,” she says. Salim even spoke of memorable rainy moments during his vows, recalling one of their first dates. He said, “when we couldn’t avoid getting hit by the rain, we cherished the day and started running hand in hand, our hearts filled with laughter, our souls with joy. That was when I knew I found my love of a lifetime.” www.WeddingGuide.com.au

Both Sahar and Salim were surprised and happy that the rainy weather actually improved their special day. Their guests were all so happy as well. “The hosts at Redbrow Garden allowed us to party until late in the night...” she says. Some of her guests said they hadn’t had so much fun in years. Apart from the wedding venue, the other important factor for them was their photographer. The attention to detail was what both Sahar and Salim loved about their chosen photographers work. They captured some beautiful photos of them around the lake and trees at Redbrow Garden, plus amazing details from the bridal table, the aisle and even their bomboniere. “The highlight video they made from our wedding day was also so beautiful, it brought tears to not only us, but our families and friends when they watched it,” says Sahar. Sahar and Salim fondly remember many positive interactions with their other wedding suppliers also. From Salim’s excellent haircut and beard trim by James, from Truefitt & Hill Canberra – including his useful advice for the day; to Sahar’s excellent bridal hair and makeup by Mitch and Caity from the Saloon; the stunning flowers by Lisa from Flowers with Love; the beautiful cake which was so carefully delivered in the rainy weather; the caterer who agreed to leave the coffee cups and cake plates so they could continue to serve their guests cake during the night; and Ella, from Elvigo Bridal Couture who gifted Sahar with a lovely veil, and attended to her so well during her fittings and alterations.

“The only thing we would change if we had the power to do, was to have our families beside us in the wedding,” says Sahar. At the end of the night, Sahar and Salim stayed at Redbrow Garden’s guesthouse. “The hosts were really accommodating and helpful,” says Sahar, adding that the venue was so beautiful, they are planning to spend their anniversary night there also. Sahar’s wedding advice:
“Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days in your life; do your best to keep it as you always dreamed and record every moment of it, but in the end if something goes wrong, just put your mind at ease. This is your day, so you must look like the best of yourself; not only your face, body, and shape but also your soul and emotions, which help you enjoy every bit of your special day. Instead of worrying about how to be happy, just let it go and be happy.” “We wish every prospective couple the best with their wedding and their loving life.

Mary and Kyle were initially brought together in Year 7, when on a slow news day, the local paper came to report on a rogue bush turkey on school grounds and they were each pulled out of maths to be photographed. Their romance took off a few years later when they eventually started dating in Year 10. Their love continued to blossom until one day Kyle planned a date at the local movies. “I thought Kyle was bringing me to the movies to see Toy Story 4, only the theatre was suspiciously empty for a 10am viewing on a Saturday, which is usually packed full of children.” With just Mary and Kyle seated in the theatre, a movie began to play. Mary quickly realised that it wasn’t Woody and Buzz showing but all of their family and friends (as well as some famous faces), each relaying what a wonderful couple they made. At the conclusion of the 10 minute video, all of their friends and family appeared in the theatre – including Mary’s sister, who had flown in from Melbourne to be there – and Kyle popped the question. Both being Wollongong locals, they knew they couldn’t imagine holding their wedding anywhere else. “We knew we wanted our wedding in our hometown of Wollongong, and there’s nothing more iconic than the lighthouse on Flagstaff Hill and the beaches around it. City Beach gave us a wedding by the lighthouse with the ocean in the background, and then a reception venue only a few metres away with another gorgeous view of the beach. The staff at City Beach were also so lovely, we instantly trusted them to give us the wedding we wanted.” Kyle continued “Everyone at City Beach was so friendly and just wanted to make sure our day was exactly how we wanted and it couldn’t have been more perfect.”

Mary and Kyle were originally booked for the 2nd of January 2021, but like many couples, decided to postpone in October 2020 due to the uncertainty of Covid restrictions. Their wedding eventually took place in May 2021 and it turned out to be the perfect move. The Christmas outbreak in NSW meant that restrictions had changed again and had they proceeded with their January date it would have meant “no dancing” – something which was important to them. Additionally, their original date turned out to be pretty miserable weather-wise, however the weather really delivered on their new date, enabling them to really make the most of the picturesque photo locations around the venue. The couple wanted to honour Kyle’s Scottish heritage, and managed to sprinkle a bit of Scotland into most aspects of their big day. Kyle was wearing the ancient hunting kilt of the McIntyre clan, which is his Scottish mother’s ancestry. His two groomsmen and a bunch of his friends also hired kilts for the day. Even Kyle’s mum brought along her traditional McIntyre kilt which she put on later in the evening for a bit of a fling and photo op! Although the couple were unable to source traditional Scottish thistle for the bouquets, they found the closest thing locally; which was purple sea holly. The couple did all their own flower arrangements.

Mary was gifted a Scottish pin and wedding horseshoe to commemorate the wedding day, this is a symbolic gift in Scotland and is said to bring the couple good luck. It was a little slice of Scotland in Wollongong! Unfortunately, many of Kyle’s Scottish relatives were unable to attend due to the pandemic. Their photographer Adrian Lammers from The Better Together Photo Co was tasked with capturing the day and scouting all the locations. “Adrian was amazingly flexible to our needs and captured the day magnificently, giving us the most gorgeous and natural photos.” The couple were also delighted by their celebrant, Dean Bonner, who was able to weave their story beautifully into the Scottish hand-tying ceremony, using an off-cut of Kyle’s tartan. Mary‘s favourite part of the day was the speeches which made them laugh and cry in equal measure. Many of the guests later commented that it was the most joyous and love-filled wedding they had been to. “It was nothing but smiles and happy tears all day. I think the speeches in particular made nearly every single guest cry at some point. Even one of Kyle’s best men, Riley, admitted that my speech made him “nearly cry” which is actually quite the achievement if you know him. Kyle and I just have a lot of love for each other and our friends and family, and I think we made everyone in that room feel that love and it was really special for everyone.”

Kyle commented that he was most looking forward to the dancing, and the couple undertook dance lessons with Miss Zoe’s School of Dance to help them choreograph a traditional Scottish ceilidh dance in lieu of their bridal waltz. As Ben Folds sang “The luckiest” the two danced through the dry ice in what was truly an ethereal moment. The couple spent their honeymoon on Hamilton Island and then a few days on Hayman Island. “The Hayman Island Resort was unreal - way fancier than we are used to! The staff were super friendly, the food was amazing and we managed to grab a room where the balcony led straight out into the pool. We could roll out of bed and jump straight in!” Mary’s wedding advice:
Try not to drop tomato chutney on your lovely white dress before you even get announced into the reception.

If as they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, then it’s no wonder Coreena and Adrian hit it off! They met when she was working in a cafe located in his office, where she says, she would “feed him everyday”. In time, Adrian proposed to Coreena, it was on her birthday while they were on a weekend away at an amazing house overlooking the beach at Gerringong. According to Coreena, he went the extra mile and captured the beautiful sunset proposal in it’s entirety, using a drone he had sneakily set up for the special occasion. Giving themselves 14 months to plan their wedding, Coreena and Adrian were well organised and ready to go, when at 5 weeks out, the unthinkable happened. Forced to shelve their plans due to COVID restrictions, they regrettably set a new date for 9 months later. The upside? Coreena recalls that she was by this stage a very relaxed bride with nothing to plan once the vendors had been rescheduled. When their big day finally arrived, it was nothing short of spectacular, with Adrian and his groomsmen arriving in two helicopters, the inclusion of wedding donkeys, and an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue converted from an old shearing shed. But it wasn’t just these unique aspects of their wedding that were memorable. Equally significant were the smaller, more meaningful additions such as Adrian wearing his grandfather’s cufflinks and photos of Coreena’s grandparents added to her bouquet.

“At the start of our ceremony,” she says, “we acknowledged the people in our lives that had passed away and couldn’t be with us on the day.” Their 80 guests, most of whom had travelled from Sydney, plus Canberra and Queensland, were treated to “an amazing culinary experience” by their caterer. Coreena and Adrian’s three separate food tastings to narrow down their menu choices proved to be worthwhile, going by the praise received from their guests. “He was so accommodating and just a genuinely beautiful soul,” says Coreena of Carlos, their caterer. Surprised by how much fun they had on their wedding day, Coreena and Adrian credit much of the smoothrunning of their wedding to the efforts of Kylie and her team from their venue, Bushfield Farm in Gundaroo.

Their photographer, Mark also enhanced their experience with his great sense of humour and down to earth approach. In addition to providing them with some truly amazing photos, Coreena says, “he kept me feeling calm and was really in control of our day.” From their talented florist who nailed their bouquet and centrepieces with minimal fuss after only two visits, to the considerable time they spent trying to find the perfect songs, to the heartfelt handmade hessian hearts Adrian’s mum created, Coreena and Adrian say they would not change a thing. Their Country Chic themed wedding was everything they wanted. Retiring to Wattagen Homestead in Wallaroo after the festivities, they then went on to honeymoon in the Witsundays, taking in the most amazing sunsets, snorkelling with turtles, sailing and bareboating around the islands for the next ten nights. Coreena’s wedding advice:
“Try to stop for a few moments throughout the day and take it all in because before you know it, it will be just an amazing memory.” “It really was the most amazing day and I have been lucky enough to find someone that truly makes me happy.”

On a weekend away in Sydney, Tim finally got down on one knee and proposed. Says Tori, “it was intimate, private and perfect!” The lead up to the proposal however lasted for almost ten months, though admittedly, Tim had a good reason. He had secretly made plans to propose to Tori on their trip to Cape York – even purchasing a ring in Mackay on the way through. As he continued his travels up the coast to Cairns where he and Tori were to meet, he got to thinking and realised he hadn’t yet spoken to her dad, Peter! This threw a spanner in the works, leaving him no choice but to delay the proposal until he returned home. So with this in mind, he hid the engagement ring in his friend’s 1995 Troop Carrier where it endured river crossings and thousands of red corrugations to arrive at the most northern point on the Australian continent, and then all the way back to Wagga Wagga. When they arrived home, he found a safe place for it in his footy boot at the top of a wardrobe in their spare bedroom, where it would stay until he spoke with Tori’s dad. Born in Dubbo, Tori met Tim when she first arrived in his home town of Wagga Wagga. She was on a girls night out and he was out with the boys when they sparked a conversation in the “Beer Deluxe” queue. Playing the larrikin, Tim had a few tall stories up his sleeve, but he eventually fessed up and let Tori know he would like to get to know her.

In contrast to the long “ten month in the making” proposal – they organised their wedding in three short months. Along with 107 guests from as far afield as Central Queensland, Central West NSW and Melbourne, they celebrated in a relaxed, easy going style reflecting who they were as a couple. Held on a Friday, it gave guests the added opportunity to enjoy a getaway themselves and see the South Coast. Highly recommending their wedding coordinator, Julie from Narooma Golf Club, Tori says, “she made our lives so easy! We organised our wedding in three months, and it was the best thing we ever did. No point in prolonging stress if you don’t have to!” Julie gave them lots of options, offered advice, and answered all their questions ensuring everything flowed well. “Decorations, name tags, tablecloths and settings, seating covers and sashes, centrepieces, seating plan, personalised Mr and Mrs Sign, lectern, staff, golf carts, arbour, cocktail hour, seating area and dance floor – everything was included!” says Tori. “Julie had taken our theme and created a masterpiece.” Leading up to the day, Narooma had approximately 250mls of rain so Tim and Tori were understandably a little worried. But as luck would have it, they awoke to a fine, sunny day with a light breeze to top it off!

With a magnificent view of the ocean overlooking the golf greens by day, followed by the magical ambience created by beautiful fairylights on the surrounding walls by night, Narooma Golf Club was indeed the perfect location for Tim and Tori’s dream wedding. After the year everyone had with navigating COVID, guests loved how relaxed everything was. They loved the venue, the food, all of it!
Tori’s wedding advice:
“Your guests will look after themselves - people are simple. If you provide a great venue, food, a bar, a dance floor and some good people, it is their own fault if they don’t enjoy themselves. So don’t stress about that. Also, Friday weddings are great, as your guests have the whole weekend to enjoy themselves with loved ones.”
Though they were surprised by how fast the day went, Tim and Tori have many happy memories of their special day. They spent their first night at Sapphire Water Apartments overlooking the water and then enjoyed a week exploring the beautiful South Coast. Their dreams of a Port Douglas honeymoon on hold until restrictions ease.

Sometimes special things happen when you least expect it, and sometimes they occur in the most unlikely of situations. Harriet and Daniel’s chance meeting occurred under these circumstances. Had they not both been attending the tragic funeral of a mutual friend, they possibly would never have met each other on that day. Fast forward several years, and Harriet is still waiting patiently for Dan’s proposal. When he finally proposes to her, she is amazed that he still manages to surprise her! It was on Australia Day 2021, when they were on holidays visiting Harriet’s family in Melbourne. After dinner, Dan asked her if she would like to go for a romantic walk along the beach. Unfortunately, it was blowing a gale, so they took cover in the gardens instead. After walking for a while, they stopped at a water fountain – and when she turned around, Dan was on one knee! “I was hysterical with excitement”, she remembers, “and yelled a few profanities (which I have not lived down), then once I had finally stopped squealing he was able to ask me if I would marry him...I said yes, OF COURSE!!”

They then walked back to share the exciting news with her family. It may have been a long wait for Harriet to hear those words, but from that moment, their wedding plans progressed quickly. Because they were moving to another city in May, they wanted to have their wedding in their current location rather than trying to plan it from another city, plus they also wanted to stay ahead of COVID restrictions. Giving themselves only three months to plan their wedding, they didn’t have time for an engagement party, but they did have a lovely dinner with their immediate family and bridal party on the eve of their wedding day. “We didn’t really disagree on anything. Three months to plan doesn’t really give you a chance to though,” she laughs. While three months to plan a wedding may seem too rushed to some, Harriet and Daniel had been to over twenty weddings together, so they had a fair idea of what they wanted and didn’t want for their own wedding. Harriet had also been a florist for sixteen years, so she was pretty familiar with how to organise a wedding. With guests travelling from Hobart, Melbourne, Newcastle, Townsville and Wagga, they mainly focused on making sure their guests felt relaxed and comfortable, and had a good time.

The church where they held their ceremony was their dream location. Dan loved it’s uniqueness and for Harriet, it held a lot of sentimental value as she used to go there as a child. She says, “my uncle would pick me up from my house in Burra every Sunday and drive me to St.Paul’s Anglican (our church), as he had no children of his own. So I particularly wanted him to drive me to the church on the day. That was very special.” Apart from one little hiccup at the ceremony, everything ran like clockwork on their wedding day. On the day, with Harriet only ten minutes away from arriving at the church, the best man suddenly realised he had forgotten the rings. With no time to leave, it was up to one of the guests to race into town to grab them. “It was pretty funny looking back at the ceremony video,” says Harriet, “and watching the best man squirm and look back at the door to see if they had turned up yet.”
their ceremony
was their dream location
Unfortunately, he didn’t make it back in time for the exchange of rings during their ceremony, so they ended up having to use Dan’s uncle’s ring which required a lot of tugging to remove, as it hadn’t been removed for over thirty years; and the best man’s wife’s ring, which Harriet says was way too small for her!

Shortly after they were married, their real rings finally arrived, so the reverend blessed them also. They couldn’t fault their reception which was held at the Royal Hotel Queanbeyan. “Bianca and Matt were flawless. They were professional enough to get the big necessities squared away, whilst focusing on attention to detail for the little things,” says Harriet. Rather than the usual formal alternate drop menu, Harriet and Dan asked if they could supply a more relaxed buffet style menu, to which they agreed. “They were so accommodating with our request and it turned out perfectly. Everyone raved about the food and said they all got to try a bit of everything,” she says. “Communication was exceptional. They were both so friendly and they went above and beyond to make our day as perfect as it was. Even on the day/night they were there to answer questions and made the whole thing flow absolutely seamlessly.” Their guests loved everything about their wedding. “They loved the little church, how the venue had the indoor area while still having the courtyard, the music and they loved the food and the buffet. Also the selection of tarts instead of cake so that there was variety – they all got demolished,” she laughs.

Some of their suppliers for their wedding were also old friends. Their photographer, Abbey and her husband, Liam who sang at their ceremony, and Rosie and Tracey from Jamison Flowers who created the most beautiful flower bouquets. Says Harriet, “I cried so hard when I saw the flowers.” Their other suppliers, such as Anthony from RJ’s booked the whole salon for them on the day, and Melissa from Melissa Ann Makeup Artist was so easy to communicate with. Harriet was so happy with how she and her bridesmaids looked on the day. The only thing that Harriet and Daniel say they would change if they could, was to have a videographer for their reception. “So we could re-live it a bit and capture the speeches,” says Harriet. As their wedding night drew to a close, Harriet and Daniel retired to the Royal Suite, which they admit was so lovely and convenient for their ‘first night’. Later they travelled from Kiama down to Eden for a week on a leisurely honeymoon. Harriet says they didn’t plan or book anything, but decided to book along the way, wherever they felt like staying. “The first night we walked into the Sebel Hotel and explained to the lovely lady at reception that it was our first night of our honeymoon. She upgraded us to the best room overlooking the ocean and had a bottle of complimentary bubbly delivered up to us with a personalised Mr and Mrs congratulations card – amazing,” says Harriet. Harriet’s wedding advice:
“As much as everyone says breathe and take a step back and enjoy the day because it goes so fast, I still couldn’t do it. But I’m still going to strongly stress to all brides to definitely try as hard as you can.

With these shots, the couple are captured within a setting that shows them to be a small part of a much larger environment. This connection with nature produces powerfully emotive images. THE FIRST LOOK The first look is still a popular trend where couples meet up before their ceremony. The sense of anticipation makes for emotional, powerful and natural pre-wedding photos. The father-daughter first look is also popular with those who share that special bond with their dad.

EDITING STYLES Do you like black and white, natural, moody or boho (orange toned) inspired photos? Subtle differences in editing styles can make a difference to your finished album.
Producing memorable photos capturing those finer details. Close ups of the wedding table, flowers, rings etc add extra colour and beauty to a wedding album and can produce highly emotive images despite not having a person in the photo.

SAME DAY EDITS Same day edits offer entertainment at your reception for your guests. They will love watching a slideshow of the day! Just make sure that your photographer doesn’t miss out on good photo opportunities due to being busy making the slideshow. If more than one photographer is shooting your wedding, then there will be no need for concern. It’s a great idea as long as the important stuff on the day is still being captured.

HEALTH & BEAUTY Your health, hair and makeup play an important role in contributing to the overall look for your wedding day. Preparation can start as soon as you’re engaged, as hair and makeup trials, health plans and treatments often take place weeks or even months prior. Take the time to look at various options so you’ll feel happy and confident on the day.

CAKES Your wedding dress, your chosen venue, your stationery, your transport; all of these things combine to communicate the style of your wedding. The same goes for your wedding cake. A work of art, it proudly sits atop it’s pedestal revealing your unique wedding style to guests as they arrive at your reception. As well as looking amazing, your wedding cake should taste exceptional, so if possible make an appointment to sample a few different flavours to find that perfect blend.
OUR TIP Allow your cake designer to organise the delivery of your wedding cake to ensure it gets to your reception intact.

Why is this one of your favourite cake designs? I created this “Love is Love” cake for two close friends of mine, Brett and Will, who finally got married on 19th October 2019. They chose the flavours then gave me full creative license. It has so many different textures and elements and fitted in perfectly with the rustic theme - it has a natural stone look and I also included a hession effect into the blue layer. I was happy with the end product and I think it came out even better than the sketch! Flavours: 1 Native Citrus, Chia seed and Raspberry 2 Caramelised White Chocolate, Strawberry Prosecco 3 After Dinner Mint – Chocolate and Peppermint 4 Gluten Free Hazelnut, Wattleseed, Choc Espresso

Using the “f” Logo The primary use of the “f” Logo is to promote your organization’s presence on Facebook. For example, when you say, “Find us on Facebook” and link to your Facebook Page, it’s appropriate to use the “f” Logo. The “f” Logo may also be used side-by-side with other social media logos.
Maintaining Shape and Proportions To ensure accurate and consistent use, never alter, rotate, embellish or attempt to recreate the “f” Logo. Never alter the proportions and shape of the “f” Logo for any reason. To resize, hold the “Shift” key in most software programs to maintain the proportions while scaling up or down. Always maintain the minimum clear space, even when proportionally scaling the logo.
Size Be sure the “f” Logo is reproduced in a legible size and that they do not appear subordinate to any other partner logos included on the creative executions. Similarly, do not present the “f” Logo in a way that makes it the most distinctive or prominent feature of what you’re creating.
Logo
Color Do not modify the logos in any way, such as changing the design or color. The correct color versions to use are the blue or reversed-out to white. If you are unable to use the correct color due to technical limitations, you may revert to black and white.

Ensure that the flowers you’ve
selected will last in the weather conditions.

RINGS & JEWELLERY
The exchange of rings is the most traditional expression of your love for one another. Remember when selecting your engagement or wedding ring, they will be worn for the rest of your life, so think carefully about your investment. Make sure the ring is comfortable to wear and that the metal, style and finish fits your lifestyle and is a perfect reflection of you. When selecting the stone, particularly a diamond, the four most important characteristics to look for are the cut, colour, clarity and carat weight.

WEDDING STYLING When it comes to wedding styling, we often put weddings into categories such as rustic, bohemian and vintage to name a few. Professional wedding stylists can decorate your ceremony right through to your reception in a way that reflects who you are as a couple. They can help you narrow down your wedding ‘look’ and supply you with beautiful decor to suit your style.

CATERING
There’s one thing guests always remember about a wedding - the food and drinks! Caterers are very versatile and can work just about anywhere you want them to. Their service usually includes the preparation and serving of food and/or drinks, the provision of cutlery and crockery and the cleaning up afterwards, yay! Food trucks, coffee carts, ice-cream carts and drink vans are very popular at weddings. Offering unique gourmet food, drinks or tasty treats, they’re a great idea if you’re organising your own catering. Dishing up unique and creative fare that tick all the boxes, they come to your address, feed your guests, then pack up easily once done.

YOUR RECEPTION - order of events
A Shot Above the Rest Photography
The reception usually runs in a fairly set order, however you can arrange the evening’s proceedings in a way that best suits you both. Guests arrive at the reception and are served light refreshments. The bridal party arrives slightly later (after having photographs taken at another location) and are served canapés and drinks separately while the guests are seated. The bridal party enters the reception. Your MC may play some upbeat music and introduce them or they may just take a seat. The MC announces the couple’s entrance and guests are asked to stand up and cheer the newlyweds. Entrees and Mains are served. Toasts and speeches may be given during or after dinner, with a speech traditionally given by the father of the bride, the groom, and the best man. After the toasts and set speeches are given, the MC asks if anyone else would like to speak. Telegrams and messages are read by the best man. The cake is cut by the couple after dessert.
Traditionally the bridal waltz is the first dance of the evening led by the newlyweds as they have their first dance as a married couple. The bridal party and the parents of the newlyweds then follow them with other guests finally joining in (you might like to add in a father-daughter dance and/or mother-son dance). The rest of the night is normally spent dancing and catching up with friends and relatives. Traditionally, before the bride leaves the reception, the MC will announce the throwing of the bouquet. The couple then say a quick thank you and goodbye to their guests before their departure. You may like to streamline the speeches (more time for dancing), add in a fun activity, have a sparkler send off, or maybe host an after-party - the choice is yours.
