Hair and make-up
From avoiding acne to nailing this year’s key wedding hair trends, we put your most-asked questions to our beautification experts
Q: I sweat when I’m nervous. What can I do? “Whether it’s sweat, tears or bubbles gone wild, I always make sure I have the right primer for your skin type. That means your foundation has a good platform to stick to. Waterproofbased products and setting sprays prevent make-up running or smudging, too.” Kayleigh Powell of Blushes & Bows at LMQ Hair and Beauty

Q: How can I make sure my skin is in the best condition possible? “Skincare is crucial months ahead. We recommend a good cleanse, tone and moisturise routine. A good serum, plus hydration for under the eyes and lips is recommended also. Always wear an SPF and avoid sunbeds or heavy sunbathing.” Maureen Crolla The Bride to be… Q: How can I cover acne scars? “There are a range of options to improve scarring, like peels, laser and dermaplaning treatments, if you can afford to treat yourself. But just exfoliating and keeping your skin hydrated will improve its texture.” Caroline Stewart Caroline Stewart Makeup Artistry and Hair Styling
Q: What about acne itself? “Start a face massage routine ASAP – you’ll see and feel changes quickly. It helps the skin become healthier without the use of topical products. I also recommend simplifying your skincare routine. Don’t add in new products or chop and change as you’ll just confuse the skin. You’ll possibly also need some lifestyle changes. Look into diet, stress and hormones rather than just products.” Lesley Mccormick Pamper & Polish Q: My skin is generally good but what if a pesky spot pop ups on the big day? “Spots aren’t a problem. Pop some neat lavender on it and keep your skin well-hydrated.” Laura Dawson Laura Dawson MAKEUP
Q: I know nothing about make-up. How can I pick the right MUA? “Narrow down to the ones that have pictures on their social media of the type of make-up you like. We all have our own style and favourite products. Your MUA should be approachable – you want to feel you can express your thoughts and ideas.” Lesley Pamper & Polish
