The Boy Who Will Live Forever When the people of London silently murmured and lifted their glasses to “the boy who lived” (refer to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), little did they know that this bespectacled lad with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead will make a room in everyone's hearts, young and old, the literati and entertainment junkies alike. From being a p a s t i m e re a d to b e i n g a n addiction, the Harry Potter series engrossed more and more readers and viewers across the globe with each new book or movie release. The eighth installment of the Harry Potter movie series, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part II, saw the end of Hewho-it's-now-okay-to-be-named, Lord Voldemort, which was welcome. But some other things came to an end as well which, regrettably, were not so welcome. Harry, Ron and Hermione's lifethreatening encounters and lucky escapes from new dangers each time, Hagrid's benevolent nature, Surius Black's reassuring presence, the games of Quidditich, Fred and George's menacing creations, Mrs. Weasly's motherly treatment of t h e k i d s , N ev i l l e' s s l o p py behaviour, Mad-Eye's mad eye, to name a few! Also will be missed the most powerful wizard who's mere presence made the readers certain that at that time nothing on this earth can harm Harry Potter. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore with his calm and elegant demeanor shall be dearly missed. Oh yes, and Hedwig too! But what will be missed the most is the long, impatient waits for the next installment of the Harry Potter books and movies.
People can never fully thank J.K. Rowling for what she's given to this world. She gave the world Hogwarts. A place full of magic, miracles and creativity. With just seven books, she has given us Muggles a reason to believe in magic. All of Harry Potter readers must have at some point or the other wished that Hogwarts were for real and that they could study in it. She has given a reason to believe that good things happen to good people. But most importantly, she got the world to read. What seemed to be a losing habit, Harry Potter made reading fun. Meanwhile, on the sports front, the world witnessed an amazing spectacle. Led brilliantly by Diego Forlan, Uruguay made their way to glory by lifting the Copa America cup for the 15th time. It was an absolute delight to watch them, especially when they took on the mighty Argentines in t h e q u a r te r f i n a l s . I n t h e Cricketing world, England rose as the new champions of Test Cricket, making their way to the top. The team surely looks promising and as Strauss has promised, it will never be a laughing stock again. Many congratulations, gentlemen. The August issue of Yours, youthfully is a tribute to the mania that has clenched the world firmly since the past decade and shows no signs of loosening its grip. This issue was made possible by the Rishika Agarwal's magnanimous research and about a decade of zealous fan following! So let us all raise a toast to J.K. Rowling for what she's given us. Also, let us raise a toast, to the boy who will live forever… Yours youthfully, An ardent Harry Potter fan

End of the Line
T his is one series you can never forget. By Rishika A garwal.
So we have come to the end of an era. A sad end indeed to the most magical spell we've seen. The final installment of the Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 released a few weeks back and received overwhelming response. Yours, youthfully gets nostalgic while it looks back at the mania that will always be.
T he Books The first book of the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, was published on 30 June 1997 by Bloomsbury in London, while in 1998 Scholastic Corporation published an edition for the United States as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. In the beginning of the plot, young Harry is unaware of the fact that he is a wizard, a secret well kept by his Muggle guardians Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. Hagrid comes to take Harry when he is eleven. Harry then embarks on his journey to be being a wizard, where he shall be taught and trained to be a wizard just like his parents. The entire plot revolves a r o u n d H a r r y, a n d L o r d Voldemort's futile attempts to harm him because Dumbledore ensures his safety in some way or the other each time. But we have to give it to Harry too; he is brave in the most unnerving situations. Harry Potter books have been extremely well written by J.K. Rowling. It is not easy to describe magic and turbulent scenes, as easy as Rowling makes it look. Scenes like the duel between Professor Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and the scene where the
members of the Order and the Death Eaters battle in the Department of Mysteries in the same part, the tasks in the Goblet of Fire, all have been described so well that readers could perpetually visualize them and when they saw the same thing in the movies, it was more like a DĂŠjĂ Vu. Rowling has left no stone unturned in making certain that readers get to know Harry and his world inside out and we must say that she has done a great job. The death scenes of Sirius Black and Dumbledore are really moving, so much so that many readers couldn't help crying! One really feels the sense of loss at the death of Sirius and after Dumbledore dies, people know that Hogwarts will never be the same. Nevertheless, the books have a great deal of cheerful and heroic moments too, like the ones where Harry is appointed new and youngest Seeker for the Quidditch team, when Harry wins the first two tasks of the Triwizard Tournament and when he starts training the students in Defense Against the Dark Arts. There are also instances of comedy, where one can't stop laughing. The author takes you through the ups and downs of Harry's life as if they were our own. We could so much identify with him and his friends. The last part, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has been exceptionally well written and met all the expectations of bidding a grand farewell to a great series. Like all the other issues, this is one which we can read again and again and each time we find something new that we didn't pay heed to the last time! So though I would adjudge the last part as the best book of the Harry Potter series, everyone has their
own favourite. Also I can say it with a lot of confidence that if anyone of us saw a Harry Potter book anywhere, he/she would pick it up and read it with as much fervor as when reading it for the first time. Our generation has grown up with Harry, Ron and Hermione as a part of our lives and it is now upto us that we pass it on even though all the hype has gone after the last movie released. Lets keep the magic alive.

It All Ends
T he Movies After any successful book, a movie has to be made. And so was it with Harry Potter. The 8 movies have been a huge success and have grossed over millions of dollars all over the world. Though people have varied opinions about how good or how bad the movies were, every harry potter fan has waited for them impatiently and seen them with all the enthusiasm possible. For Harry Potter movies to be successfully, a lot depended on the choice of actors and the animation. The animation got better with each movie and looked pretty realistic, so we give Warner Brothers 10/10 for that. However, there are a few glitches in the casting. A 10/10 for Harry, Hermione, Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, Snape and Sirius too. But Cho Chang does not really match the description she was bestowed with in the movies. Also, a few characteristics of certain characters were missing,
like Ron's freckles. But that can be overlooked, taking into account the superb job that Rupert Grint did. The directors and the script writers have tried their best to show the world of Magic as described by J K Rowling. But obviously while writing one has the full freedom to imagine anything but that may not be possible to actually act out. So all the movie critics should cut some slack and applaud those associated with the making of these movies. The plot goes along really well and has not been changed in any of the movies. Viewers have said that while reading the books they had pictured the scenes, and when they saw it in the movies they were just the way they hadimagined them. The animations and visual effects were terrific. The dementors, the house-elves, quidditch, the magical creatures have all been developed very well. Even though few deletions were made like the
third task could have been more elaborate in the Goblet of Fire. They are minute and do not the affect the story in any way (the avid book fans might not like this). The movies do complete justice to the books. The movies were well deserved by the books and it would have been unjust if Harry Potter movies wouldn't have been made! It is hard to say whether the books win over the movies or vice versa, different people have different opinions. Personally, I'd give it to the books. But without the movies, the saga would've been incomplete. So, that's the enchanting tale of a magical journey. We sincerely hope that J.K. Rowling comes up with something, a way to continue the Harry Potter mania. But even if she does not continue with Harry Potter, she has given us 7 books to relive the magic as and when we feel. And the movies to remind us that the world, indeed, is magical. Yours, youthfully -

Back to the Top Uruguay are back to where they belong, by winning the Copa America. History is not what you thought, it is what you can remember and we can remember 2 consecutive world cup final triumphs, 14 Copa America cup titles and yes a decline in their game but now with win in Copa America cup final against Albiroja team of Paraguay Celeste team of Uruguay is back and they are back with a bang. This victory gives them their first Copa America title since 1995. Ascent of Uruguay- After this win they have reinforced their claim as best team in south America and they are best in that region because they are producing results after result .After making into last four of the world cup last summer they are victorious in Copa America cup finals..There are football giants in that region Argentina and brazil and they have brilliant players like Argentina has Lionel Messi and more striker it can use but unfortunately their striker are not performing up to mark, Brazil has Robinho and Neymar but no team in entire region has two strikers who plays together as Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez plays or a back line as bruising as the one anchored by the likes of Diego lugano ,Diego Perez and Martin Cace, or a goalkeeper better than Fernando Muslera .Brazil and a Argentina have a bit more overall talent but Uruguay plays terrific team game and their star players know how to rise to occasion and with that powerhouses of world football Brazil and Argentina are saddled with the weight of unmeatable expectation of billions of people around the globe .While on the other hand Uruguay a tiny nation of 3.5 million people is blessed with a underdog mentality that gives them edge.
In the tournament-Uruguay on their way to title win started with a couple of ties against Peru and group winners Chile And then they were the winner against Mexico in quarterfinals they defeated mighty Argentina on penalties and finally earned their all famous final berth with a win over Peru. In the final, the Celeste team of Uruguay has the edge in experience here having played 26 finals of the tournament winning 14 which ties with Argentina for the most wins. Paraguay on the other hand have played only 7 finals winning 2 of them. Diego Forlan scored twice in the final with initial goal coming from the boot of Luis Suarez in the 12th min of the game which puts Uruguay ahead. Forlan doubled the lead. 30 minutes later an inspired Forlan then scored in last moment of play to secure a fantastic 3-0 win and with this goal he tied with Hector Scarone as Uruguay leading goal scorer with 31 strikes for the national side. Paraguay’s defense was exceptional during their way to the finals but in the final they failed to prevent attacks from
Forlan and Suarez their defense was breached by Uruguay's striker inside a quarter of an hour. The ball fell fortuitously to Suarez in the area and Liverpool striker does not misses many he acted smartly before clipping in a shot which beats Justo Villar the goalkeeper. Just when it seemed that Uruguay will go back to dressing room with a 1-0 lead Forlan scored and that was his first goal in last 13 international matches when Egidio Arevalo dispossessed Ortigoza to play in Forlan whose powerful drive easily beats Villar. The encounter was dominated by the Uruguay and the Tabarez men have the final say with a goal in a final minute. Cavane swept a cross to Suarez whose cushioned header was perfect for Forlan to run on to slot past advancing Villar. After the match, Forlan said, “This really means a lot for me because my grandfather won it ,my father won it and now I have also done it,” says Forlan. “Three generation have won this trophy .the name of Forlan will stay in history.” It was pleasant to see that one of the history's greatest football nation is back on top in South America.

Rise From The Ashes England have risen their standards manifold to be at the top, says Vivek Singh. “Getting to no one is has been a goal for a long time and it fills me with a lot of pride to know we have completed something very special .We have had to work very hard and the guys have put a lot of hard graft to get to number 1, these were the words of Andrew Strauss who is captain of a team which is now world leader in test cricket and they did this in splendid style defeating mighty Indians by an innings and 242 runs at Edgbaston leaving Mahendra Singh Dhoni dejected under whom team India have lost their first test series. Dhoni after the match says'' we have lost to a perfect side . I can't pinpoint the reasons why we did not bat well..England played very well. We had to be at our best to defeat them..We needed all department to click together, but we never managed it.'' The story of transformation of English team is very interesting having been in the bottom of the rankings in 1999 they are unbeaten in a series since 2009 and now they are on top. In the last couple of years they are the side to watch and this all changes because of entire new coaching staff that includes Andy flower as coach of team and great Graham Gooch as batting coach. Andy is a perfect game manager and does an incredible job of setting up team members. During his tenure a s t e a m d i re c t o r E n g l a n d defeated arch rival Australia in consecutive ashes series they also won their first ICC trophy in form of 20-20 world cup and under Gooch English batsmen are regaining their form 33 centuries have been scored by them since Gooch became batting coach in 2009. 13 have been 150 plus and six over 200.
English team is driven by a smiling captain who understands his teammates. He is leading the squad in a perfect manner. Andrew Strauss along with Andy make a remarkable pairing Strauss by his pleasant friendly manner and Andy by his quiet intensity have shaped a team of winners..It is not just on the field that they have been successful. They have got Kevin Pietersen back on track the game of this great batsmen was adversely effected by the manner of his sacking as captain and now when he is back with couple of big innings against India this is a big achievement of the duo. England not only have a talented and setteled line up but the best reserve strength since 1950.Starting from the top Alastair cook seems to be man w i t h m a g i c w i l l ow. H e h a s provided solid platform for the batsman to follow him. In initial over's of the game he assures his team of getting a good start at various surfaces of the world..cook has now reached zenith of his cricket life his terrific run in this season which started from the ashes where he scored 735 runs continues against India at Edgbaston where he nearly misses a triple century. English batting might also includes Jonathan Trott. Kevin Pietersen. Trott at no 3 is perhaps the best batsman at that slot .He is consistent and plays test cricket in a manner it should be played at a trot not on a gallop. Kevin is a explosive batsman by nature but has learnt to put his head calm and composed .In middle order there are Ian bell and Eoin Morgan and down the order they have Matt prior who can change the course the course of the game
with his awesome keeping and useful batting .all in all they have a perfect batting order. They have a depth in bowling department too. James Anderson and Stuart broad provide England the cutting edge. Anderson who dips the ball late moving it away later, changes line and pace is leader of the pack, providing him assistance is broad. Broad bowls with pace bounce and movement , the most impressive thing about him is wrist and seam position..jimmy and Stuart have provided England initial breakthrough that are important to win test match and they have done this even on brown surface of Colombo and Chennai In short they have a quality pace attack with Anderson and broad Tim Bresnan and Chris Tremlett are the other bowlers who are also performing when it counts the most. In addition to this lethal pace attack there is world best spinner Graeme Swann .Swann has proved to be best English spinner in recent years .At 32 he is still a match winner .With that there is one more significant thing to consider that is their bowlers can also bat this gives them an edge over other teams. At least two of three ingredients are required for attest team to prosper over long period of time a good structure, a good ethos and good players .England have all these ingredients/. Let's see how long this team stays at no 1? The real challenge for them will be to become victorious at slow and turning tracks of Indian subcontinent. It will be interesting to see how they do so.

Movies
Things We Missed The directors and the crew have to take a few liberties with the script and cannot stick to the original story for reasons such as time, money and to keep the movie paced properly. 15 things I missed in the movies... th
1) In the 4 movie (Goblet of fire), the tasks could have been more elaborate, especially the third task, i.e., the maze, didn't have any of the creatures described so well by J.K. Rowling. 2) Another point skipped in the movie was S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare), a campaign started by Hermione for the elf rights. 3) The Death Day Party was missing in the Chamber of secrets. It would have been quite a scene.
4) Peeves, the poltergeist was not there in the movies at all. 5) Sir Cadogan (remember the crazy knight??) in the Prisoner of Azkaban, is not included as a part of the movie. After Sirius' break-in on Hallowe'en, the Fat Lady is only frightened and not injured as in the book. 6) Many characters are described differently in the books. Harry' s hair is never untidy, Ron is not that tall and has no freckles, Hermione has no large front teeth, Ginni and Cho Chang don't match their descriptions as well.
7) Several times Harry, Ron and Hermione have shown performing magical spells during the vacations. Why didn't they get warnings from the Ministry of Magic? 8) The Quidditch games have been altered A LOT. st 9) Peter Pettigrew doesn't die in the 1 installment of The Deathly Hallows.
10) Many details about the background stories of Black, Neville, Voldemort were not mentioned in the movies. Neville's parents were in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries after being tortured by Bellatrix, but this wasn't included in the script, nor were the details concerning Gaunts and their link to Tom Riddle, or the family description of Black. 11) The Sorting Hat's song has not been included the script (A very jovial song sung by the Hat the year Harry and others join Hogwarts. 12) One of the biggest surprises was that that did not show Dumbledore's funeral and Harry's meeting with the Minister for Magic in the Order of the Phoenix
13) How the Merauder's Map was made and who its founders were was not mentioned by Lupin. 14) In the last movie, how Dumbledore got the Elder Wand has not been told. 15) The fight scene of the Deathly Hallows (2nd installment) was overly stretched and Rishika Agarwal not at all like described in the book. The 5 Most Magical Guitar Solos of All Time ...and why they’re so special

Music Song- Stairway To Heaven Band- Led Zeppelin AlbumGuitarist- Jimmy Page Well, anyone who has heard the song will not question the top spot of this timeless song. Considered by many the greatest guitar solo of all time, the solo that we hear was actually selected out of three options. The song begins with a slow, soft picking and calm vocals by Robert Plant and then goes on to pick up a fast tempo th towards the end. Basses have been replaces with keyboards and drums are introduced in the 4 minute in this song that plays for more than 8 minutes.
Song- Sweet Child O' Mine Band- Guns N' Roses Album- Appetite For Destruction Guitarist- Slash With classics like “Sweet Child O' Mine” and “Welcome To The Jungle”, Appetite For Destruction remains the largest selling debut album in U.S.A and one of GnR’s best album. The rest, as they say, is history. Legend has it that this song came about as a co-incidence. The picking is fast and blends well with the tempo of the songs. Each note seems perfect, like it was meant to be there. Not to forget, Izzy supported superbly with his rhythms. The guitar riff of this song is also considered to be the best riff ever! Song- Coming Back To Life Band- Pink Floyd AlbumGuitarist- David Gilmour This is probably the most soothing track you've heard. There are three solos in the song and all them are just as good as the other. The solos are long and emotional and give you the best feel of the blues scale. The lyrics and the solos complement each other so well that one can actually grasp all the emotions Gilmour has tried to convey through the song. The song is guitar-driven and the guitar sounds enchanting. David Gilmour, as always, has performed both his duties of a vocalist and lead guitarist excellently.
Song- Hotel California Band- Eagles Album- Hell Freezes Over Guitarist- Glenn Frey, Don Felder, Joe Walsh Probably the first thing that comes to people’s minds when they speak of this song is a number of acoustic guitars and pure magic. The long solo in the starting and one at the end are too good to be described fully. Tremolo picking has been used extensively and the solos have been played alternately by the guitarists. Where one guitarist ends his part, the other picks up magnificently. As the lyrics state, “You can check out any time you want, but you can never leave,”, a line that very well describes the echo its solos will leave!
Song- November Rain Band- Guns N’ Roses Album- Use Your Illusion Part I Guitarist- Slash Another timeless classic by the classic guitarist Slash. The song starts on piano. settles into a groove with two solos and ends in a rather fast outro. Bending has been used extensively to play the solos and as usual, Slash has made no mistakes in playing the solos to perfection. This song is a testimony as to why Slash is considered to be one of the best blues guitarist. Watch the video of this song to add to the feeling. The scenes of Slash playing his Les Paul in the desert with the solo playing in the background are unforgettable. Yours, youthfully -

Fashion
The Bohemian Look Now is the right time to try the Bohemian look, says Dania Nadeem. If you haven't already noticed that the bohemian look is the hottest trend of the moment, which rock have you been hiding under? Inspired by gypsies, ethnic patterns and the '70s hippie scene, the boho trend is all about looking like you just threw on some clothes without thinking. African, Indian and Asian prints are combined with western pieces that allow you to mix and match clothes to create your own unique look. It's comfortable, earthy and feminine. But what is the best thing about the boho wardrobe? It's cheap - just scour thrift stores for cool vintage finds, like beaded tanks, lace scarves and eclectic jewelry. To be a bohemian beauty, you'll need to put away those skin-tight clothes. Skirts are the star of this fashion trend, so look for peasant or prairie skirts in solid colors (think chocolates, teals and rich
burgundies) or ethnicinspiredprints, which you can wear with plain, fitted tanks and flip flops. If you're not into skirts, then pair your jeans with embroidered tops or floaty tunics. Don't worry about overdoing it - bohemian clothes look great with layered accessories so pile on some long necklaces and chunky bracelets, wrap a funky belt around your waist and step out in boots or beaded sandals. One of the basic fashion principles to looking boho chic is balance mixing wardrobe staples with detail-rich pieces. This gives the right balance to your outfit without making you look like fashion victim. Typical boho are flat, comfy and warm and neutral-colored (black, tan, dark brown, olive green, etc.). You can find them in a variety of casual-chic designs, from suede
or leather boots, to strappy sandals like gladiators. Bohemian-inspired shoes look amazing with casual short denim shorts and skirts. Most boho handbags are slouchy, made of natural materials like leather (faux or real, it doesn't matter) or suede. The classic leather hobo handbags go with everything, while the more colorful ones (patchwork, prints, etc.) are great for adding a focal point to your outfit. Whatever bag you choose, if you want to look boho chic, make sure you buy the ones with vintage details such as braids, tassels and fringes. These details are often what define original bohemian style! Try patchwork designs or eye-catching colors like mustard yellow, deep purple, deep olive green (anything that is a bit splashy yet muted). The Bohemian Look for the season is all about mixing the old with new, trendy with the classics. So keep it simple, classic and Vintage!

The Awesome Column
Delhi Metro Mein Aapka Swaagat Hai Look around the Metro and you’ll see these characters. By Ankush Bahuguna. Having travelled for almost half of my college life in the Delhi Metro, I have come across, experienced rather, all diversities of homosapiens. I am sure most you would be able to identify with many of the characters that I am going to speak about – you must have shared your seat with them, landed in an argument with them over a seat, you must have boarded the metro with them or who knows, you must be one of them yourself! The Mahila Mukti Mandal These are the self righteous women of India breathing fresh conditioned air in the bright and luxuriously spacious women's coach. Most of them go quite unnoticed throughout the journey because half of them are busy discussing chappals and sarees with their friends, while the other ones are either reading a book or staring at the girl standing in front all decked up for a party. But there is this one lady that leads the group. She cannot digest going unnoticed. Therefore, as soon as a guy standing at the junction between the 1st two coaches subconsciously steps or even stumbles into the women's coach due to a sudden jerk of the metro, she prepares herself to dart him! She can soon be heard shouting, gathering a sufficiently large audience around the junction. All you can see is a cluster of male heads expressing how good ladies are at blowing up issues. “Hello mister/dear, kya tumhe pata nai yeh ladies coach hai?” sounding as annoying and rude as possible.
“Toh maine kya kar diya madam, jagah nahi hai aur kahan khade hoon?” “Toh humein kya pata kahi aur jake khade ho…ajeeb se log hain…padhe likhe hokar bhi itni akal nai ki ladies khadi hai to side ho jaau,” shrugging her shoulders and exchanging looks with others. “Aap tameez se baat karo na” says another guy who is as much a stranger to the guy as he is to the woman. “Aap chup rahiye…chup chaap peeche khade ho jaaiye,” speaks up another activist in support of the leader. “Arrey ye aise nai maanenge, abhi guards ko bula lo,” speaks another while grabbing the nearest seat before anyone else claims it. “Haan to bula lo, hum bhi dekh lenge,” the victim's male ego shouts. The college girl shrugs her shoulders and stares at the leader with an oh-my-god-why-is-thisunbearably-loud-womanmaking-it-such-a-big-issue look, smirking as she looks at her boyfriend, also standing at the junction. The Mark Zuckerberg These believe in social networking and making as many friends in the metro as possible. You are travelling with your friend talking about the party you just attended and how everyone got drunk. He smirks and reacts to every line you speak as if you are talking to him. If you talk about some really common topics like global warming, or Ramdev, BJP, Anna, Obama, or the dilli-ka-badhtatraffic he will be more than glad to put forward his views.
Then slowly, he asks “College mein ho?” You nod with a faint smile. “Kaun se?” “Sushant School of Art and Architecture.” “Achha! Kahan padta hai yeh college?” “Gurgaon,” looking back to the friend trying to continue the already interrupted conversation, “Oh…kahan se aate ho?” “Mayur Vihar.” “Achha…toh…um…tum Rajiv Chowk se badalte hoge na?” “Ji.” “Bahut der lag jati hogi?” “Haan…1.5 ghanta.” “Ohho, main bhi gaya tha ek baar Noida…Noida wali hi to jaati hogi na udhar?” “Haan wahi jaati hai.” “Achha! Main toh actually yahi Qutab Minar se aata hoon.” You nod. “Paas hi hai…office Gurgaon mein hai, bas 20 min lagte hain. Sahi hai…par tumhara to door hai…fir IFFCO se kaise jate ho?” “Tempo chalte hain wahan se.” “Tempo…haan, ye bhi badiya hai.” You nod. He then seems to shut up for a while when you turn to your friend to revert back to your conversation. However, you friend is already at the gate ready to get off at his station. “Chal bye,” you say. “Aapke saath hi padhta hai?” the man starts again… The Gentleman You would wonder what you have done to him that caused him to do this. You get a seat. You sit. A lady enters. The lady doesn't look like the one who claims the reserved seat. This gentleman, suddenly speaks, “Seat de do aunty Yours, youthfully -

ko…aaiye…aap baithiye.” “Nahi nahi theek hai,” she says smiling. “Arrey koi baat nahi…aap baith jaiye…” you wonder who really is sitting on the seat and thus be offering it – you or the gentleman. You get up smiling letting her sit. She smiles back and consumes the silver space in a blink of an eye. The next moment, he is seen running to grab himself a seat forgetting completely about HIS auntie's friend who is still standing. The Sherlock Holmes You are messaging to your girlfriend and you sense some paranormal activity around. You feel someone is reading all that you write. Someone knows half of your playlist and is trying to listen to the song playing at the moment in your headphones. He knows who the last friend that you called was. He knows the number of messages stored in your inbox and the videos that you are browsing through. Sadly it is not as thrilling to find out who he is like it sounds. He is the one standing behind you, constantly peeping in your message window. You are going for an interview with your resume and portfolio bound neatly under a transparent cover. He seems to register all that he can read sitting next to you. Look back at him and he stares at you with an interrogatory streak. The Kud Kud Kumars I know half of you are checking if I have accepted myself as being one of these. I DO! These are the ones who are sent to the metro by God to spoil your mood every second. Their faces
shout “stay away” every time the door opens letting people in. The metro is jam packed and you cannot see anything except stinky, hairy armpits around, and yes a bit of the map with red and green lights. Even before you realize stepping on what feels like someone's foot, he pushes you with his shoulder saying “Eh, udhar hoke khade ho na,” making it seem like you are responsible for his ongoing rivalry with his boss, for him getting late, his child getting bad report cards, for India losing the match, global warming and everything else in the world. The Meena Kumari He boards the metro with his friends. He seems as normal as anyone else in the metro. However, there is an emotional streak to him that unfolds slowly as his friends de-board midway. He is then all alone, and the world is a stage. And thus begins his performance. With earphones plugged in, he listens to songs to build up the mood. You can guess his playlist from 'Party Abhi Baaki Hai' to 'Tanhayee', thanks to his b o dy l a n g u a g e a n d f a c i a l expressions. A sad song comes and he leans against the door, looking out reminding you of Deepika Padukone of 'Ye h Dooriyan'. “What must he be looking at in an underground metro track – the thick wires and steel pipes faintly visible or the cobwebs on the retaining walls?” you wonder. The metro comes up to an overhead track and his eyes shift to the sky and the stars. His face is now smashed up against the door merging the planes of his nose and cheeks into one. As the gate opens, he notices people coming, going out, people waiting at the platform, people talking on phone, people sitting around, you

noticing him and smirks to himself with thoughtful eyes. You guess he is thinking about life and its many mysteries. “Aaa aaa aaaaaa aaa kabhi khushi kabhie gham…” The Pokemons & Hotwheels They enter and your mind pictures the whole “Pokemon jaao” scene with their parents opening up a red and white ball letting out hyperactive beasts (kids, in a polite language). They start running from one coach to the other stumbling upon your luggage, clenching the old lady's saree to save them from falling while she frowns upon their parents with a kya-yeh-jungleebachcha-aapka hai look. Oh, and sometimes they swing around the pole too, or circumambulate around you holding your leg like monks do around the Sanchi Stupa. The mother is more focused on grabbing a seat so that she doesn't have to hold the other kid – an infant whose intensity of crying only increases with time. In case God wishes to punish you for something that you did in the college/office, he sends these farishtaas to sit right next to you. With every jerk that the stopping of the metro causes, you end up having a new baby in your lap each time, out of the 3-4 ones stuffed in the adjacent seat. You place them back, one on top of the other and the father smiles appreciating your love for his kids. The kids seem to like their new uncle and start talking in alien language to you, go behind your back to look out of the window and then lie on your back playing with your hair and earphones while the youngest opera singer is still shattering the windows by his shrieks.
