Exchanging Tickets: Unfortunately once tickets have been purchased we are unable to refund them. Tickets can be exchanged for other tickets of equivalent value for £1 per transaction (free to Members) if presented to the Box Office at least 24 hours before the performance. No tickets will be refunded on the announcements of subsequent special offers. For some performances all levels of the auditorium may not be open.

Concessions and Discounts: must be requested at the time of booking. When available these apply to under 25s, full-time students, over 60s, registered disabled or those in receipt of means tested benefits. Please produce proof of eligibility each time a booking is made.

Access: We are committed to making our performances as accessible as possible. We have wheelchair spaces available in the stalls in the Main House and in the Studio. Please state at the time of booking if a wheelchair space is required. There are accessible toilet facilities. We have a wireless system for audio-described performances and the hard of hearing and also programme signed and captioned performances. Companion tickets are available. Access dogs are admitted. Latecomers: Latecomers may be asked to wait until a suitable break in the performance before taking their seats. On some occasions it may be impossible to admit latecomers until the interval. Please note for Studio performances without an interval, latecomers will not be admitted at any stage due the layout of the performance area. Cream Tea Matinees: £14 (includes ticket, programme and cream tea)

Youth Theatre York Theatre Royal runs one of the largest Youth Theatres in the country with weekly workshops for people aged 5 – 25 exploring all aspects of theatre and regularly performing in their own productions. Contact 01904 658162 or email education@yorktheatreroyal.co.uk

As part of the free theatre initiative in Autumn 2009 York Theatre Royal held the first TakeOver Festival. Young people from across Yorkshire were given the opportunity to programme three weeks of theatre events and in a mix of individual placements and working as a board ran the theatre for the duration of the festival with guidance and support from the York Theatre Royal team. The festival was a huge success, we welcomed over 9000 people through the doors to see a show or participate in a workshop or event during the three week period.
