Robert Slimbach and presented by Adobe in 1992, was intended to solve a number of typographic problems related to office correspondence. Not just its forms, but also its aesthetics make the balanced, elegant Utopia suitable for any use. •>> 3 The subject of study is the transitional life of me

Between the clouds and the sea proudly soars the stormy petrel, as a streak of black lightning. Now the waves on wingtip touching, now as an arrow soaring to the clouds, he screams, and — the clouds hear joy in the bird’s proud cry. In that cry — the lust of the storm! The power of anger, flame of passion and certainty in victory hear the clouds in that cry. •>> 3 The seagulls groan before the storm, — groan, toss over the sea
and are ready to dive their terror to its depths. And the loons also whimper, — the loons cannot attain joy of life’s struggle: thunder of lightning-bolts frightens them. The stupid penguin cowardly hides blubber in the rocks ... only the proud stormy petrel soars bold and free over the grey sea froth! Ever darker and lower clouds drop to the sea, waves singing and rending the heights to meet the thunder. •>> 3 Thunder rumbles. In pounding anger moan the waves, fighting
the wind. See the wind grab waves in a lockhold, and in wild fury, throw them on the rocks, smashing emerald masses to drops and mist. The stormy petrel soars with a scream, a streak of black lightning, as an arrow pierces the clouds, on wing-tip slicing the wave froth. See him hover, like a demon — proud, black demon of the storm — he laughs, and cries ... he laughs atop the clouds, he cries with joy! •>> 3 In the froth of anger — clever demon, — he has long heard
weariness, he knows that the clouds won’t cut the sun — no, the sun will triumph! •>> 3 The wind roars ... Thunder rumbles... As a blue flame burn
clouds over the sea’s abyss. The sea catches arrows of lightning and snuffs them in her depths. As snakes of fire howling in the deep vanish those reflections. •>> 3 The storm! Soon will break the storm! The bold stormy petrel
proudly flies between the lightning and the frothing anger of the sea; now screams the prophet of victory: — Let the storm burst forth in all fury!

on, her bare feet quite red and blue with the cold. She carried a small bundle of matches in her hand, and a good many more in her tattered apron. No one had bought any of them the live long day no one had given her a single penny. Trembling with cold and hunger crept she on, the picture of sorrow: poor little child! The snow-flakes fell on her long, fair hair, which curled in such pretty ringlets over her shoulders but she thought not of her own beauty, or of the cold. Lights were glimmering through ever y window, and the savoir of roast goose reached her from several houses it was New Year’s eve, and it was of this that she thought.

it was dreadfully cold, it was snowing fast, and almost dark in the evening—the last evening of the old year was drawing in. But, cold and dark as it was, a poor little girl, with bare head and feet, was still wandering about the streets.

houses, one of which projected beyond the other. She sat down, drawing her little feet close under her, but in vain, she could not warm them. She dared not go home, she had sold no matches, earned not a single penny, and perhaps her father would beat her, besides her home was almost as cold as the street, it was an attic; and although the larger of the many chinks in the roof were stopped up with straw and rags. the wind and snow often penetrated through.

You can do what ever you want at home, i have to control my temper outside •>> / I was not paid to do this
•>> 3 I have been busy busy: took 11 courses at SES, took weekly
zither lesson from Xiaoye Yang-- an exceptional 21 string zitherist (what luck), started a small magazine with a bunch of friends who’s also interested. Under the help of my friends, I started to apply for the universities in the U.S, took the SAT exam, attended a gazillion short music related seminars, had 1 computer built for me, bought and sold several other old computers... and now started my own web site. So What???? Well, because I have discovered a life path I want to travel and enjoy with others who may be motivated by the same things. You may be one of those “others”. 11Exams are those things I never wanted to face. However, this time, they have to be taken due to one thing called “dream”.1I had to take an 3 hours flight to Hongkong to take the exam but I was toatally fine with it; I do not think I will still have the passion to do such things right now, but I know how crazy I was about my dream at that point. 11Mom said they will support me and what I do, as long as it is good for me as their beloved daughter. I still remember her went to Hongkong with me and waiting for me outside the exam room for hours. How lucky I am!1111I finally got accepted at Moore College of Art and Design at Philadelphia; I have heard about this city (bad stuffs), but, I knew I will go. My parents were so worried about me while they were excited about me being accepted by a college. 11My parents tried to convince me to go to AAU in San Francisco at that time, I was that stupid girl who never listen to parents, and now I am about to graduate from AAU. 11How funny.

I started to prepare for the new adventure, United States is the place I’ve heard a lot but never experienced. My mom said that I’d better learn how to control my temper •>> 3 Ever y one who knew me would said that I am a pretty
short temper person, my parents hanged the chinese letter“忍”on my wall, and they really expected me to be more patient about ever ything before I left home, they knew the world outside is so unpredictable, no one else will treat my temper as nice as they did. wonderful/awful experiences, accomplishments or failures, genuinely interesting or peculiar episodes; but that it’s only real value today is the wealth of material it affords me for lyrics and music. I’m counting on my music, if called upon, to adequately express my past. •>> 3 July 1, 2006 a family owned business was sold and I became free to pursue my music without any “yeah buts.’ You know what “yeah buts” are; yeah but, I have to go to work or yeah but, what will the neighbors think? Life isn’t that different now except that it’s filled with artistic passion, curiosity, discovery, and the freedom to say “no, I just don’t like that” or “it makes no sense at all, I’m doing it anyway.” Right,,,,,,, 1it’s almost the same as dragging a bored soul to work daily. What’s not missing are hours of practice, study, and living in the questions around the purpose of all my work. Sometimes, this can produce more anxiety than making a payroll with negative cash flow. Whatever it is that I produce will at least be all mine and an authentic honest expression, something that is not really a commodity today.

I am pround of the decision I made. I will still follow my heart and keep moving on.
•>> 3 Smile more, be nice to ever yone, do not argue with
people, make more friends, make good relationship with your instructors, said mom.
(
•>> 3 It’s not that life before July 1, 2006 wasn’t full of odd twists,

It was dreadfully cold, it was snowing fast, and almost dark in the evening— the last evening of the old year was drawing in. But, cold and dark as it was, a poor little girl, with bare head and feet, was still wandering about the streets. When she left her home she had slippers on, but they were much too large for her indeed, properly, they belonged to her mother, and had dropped off her feet whilst1 she was running very fast across the road, to get out of the way of two carriages. —This was how I thought my life was at Philadelphia, close if not 100% matches, nothing was expected.

“Now some one is dying,” said the little girl, softly, for she had been told by her old grandmother, the only person who had ever been kind to her, and who was now dead that whenever a star falls an immortal spirit returns to the God who gave it. 122232222222222222222222233333 32222222222222222 She struck yet another match against the wall it flamed up, and surrounded by its light, appeared before her that same dear grandmother, gentle and loving as always, but bright and happy as she had never looked during her lifetime. “Grandmother!” exclaimed the child.
Home sweet home, i do not know why i am here, over 16000 miles away from home, and got ever ything stolen, got cheated... I should’ve just stay at home and listen to my parents, wrong decision •>> 3

love.” It’s true. You really can’t love somebody to death. I’ve known people to die from no love, but I’ve never known anyone to be loved to death. We just can’t love one another enough. A heart-warming stor y tells of a woman who finally decided to ask her boss for a raise in salar y. All day she felt ner vous and apprehensive. Late in the afternoon she summoned the courage to approach her employer. To her delight, the boss agreed to a raise. The woman arrived home that evening to a beautiful table set with their best dishes. Candles were softly glowing. Her husband had come home early and prepared a festive meal. She wondered if someone from the office had tipped him off, or... did he just somehow know that she would not get turned down? She found him in the kitchen and told him the good news. They embraced and kissed, then sat down to the wonderful meal. Next to her plate the woman found a beautifully lettered note. It read, “Congratulations, darling! I knew you’d get the raise! These things will tell you how much I love you.” Following the supper, her husband went into the kitchen to clean up. She noticed that a second card had fallen from his pocket. Picking it off the floor, she read, “Don’t worr y about not getting the raise! You deser ve it anyway! These things will tell you how much I love you.” Someone has said that the measure of love is when you love without measure. What this man feels for his spouse is total acceptance and love, whether she succeeds or fails. His love celebrates her victories and soothes her wounds. He stands with her, no matter what life throws in their direction. Upon receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, Mother Teresa said, “What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family.” And love your friends. Love them without measure.

involving a client and a designer and usually completed in conjunction with producers of form (i.e., printers, signmakers, etc.)—undertaken in order to convey a specific message (or messages) to a targeted audience. The term "graphic design" can also refer to a number of artistic and professional disciplines that focus on visual communication and presentation. As a whole, it is also often referred to as Visual Communication or Communication Design. Various methods are used to create and combine words, symbols, and also images to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. A graphic designer may be using a combination of typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to produce the final result. Graphic design often refers to both the process (designing) by which the communication is created and the products (designs) which are generated. Common uses of graphic design include identity (logos and branding), publications (magazines, newspapers, and books), advertisements and product packaging. For example, a product package might include a logo or other artwork, organized text and pure design elements such as shapes and color which unify the piece. Composition is one of the most important features of graphic design, especially when using pre-existing materials or diverse elements. While Graphic Design as a discipline that has a relatively recent histor y, with the term "graphic design" first coined by William Addison Dwiggins in 1922, graphic design-like activities span the histor y of humankind: from the caves of Lascaux, to Rome's Trajan's Column towards the illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, to the dazzling neons of Ginza. In both this lengthy histor y and in the relatively recent explosion of visual communication in the 20th and 21st centuries, there is sometimes a blurring distinction and also over-lapping of advertising art, graphic design and fine art. After all, they share many of the same elements, theories, principles, practices and languages, and sometimes the same benefactor or client. In advertising art the ultimate objective is the sale of goods and ser vices. In graphic design, "the essence is to give order to information, form to ideas, expression and feeling to artifacts that document human experience." In late 19th centur y Europe, especially in the United Kingdom, the movement began to separate graphic design from fine art. In 1849, Henr y Cole became one of the major forces in design education in Great Britain, informing the government of the importance of design in his Journal of Design and Manufactures. He organized the Great Exhibition as a celebration of modern industrial technology and Victorian design. From 1891 to 1896, William Morris' Kelmscott Press published books that are some of the most significant of the graphic design products of the Arts and Crafts movement, and made a ver y lucrative business of creating books of great stylistic refinement and selling them to the wealthy for a premium. Morris proved that a market existed for works of graphic design in their own right and helped pioneer the separation of design from production and from fine art. The work of the Kelmscott Press is characterized by its obsession with historical styles. This historicism was, however, important as it amounted to the first significant reaction to the stale state of nineteenthcentur y graphic design. Morris' work, along with the rest of the Private Press movement, directly influenced Art Nouveau and is indirectly responsible for developments in early twentieth centur y graphic design in general.
•>> 3 Typography is largely used by typesetters, compositors,
typographers, graphic artists, art directors, and clerical workers. Until the Digital Age, typography was a specialized occupation. Digitization has opened up typography to new generations of visual designers and lay users.

and presentation of existing text and either preexisting imager y or images developed by the graphic designer. For example, a newspaper stor y begins with the journalists and photojournalists and then becomes the graphic designer's job to organize the page into a reasonable layout and determine if any other graphic elements should be required. In a magazine article or advertisement, often the graphic designer or art director will commission photographers or illustrators to create original pieces just to be incorporated into the design layout. Or the designer may utilize stock imager y or photography. Contemporar y design practice has been extended to the modern computer, for example in the use of WYSIWYG user interfaces, often referred to as interactive design, or multimedia design. Before any graphic elements may be applied to a design, the graphic elements must be originated by means of visual art skills. These graphics are often (but not always) developed by a graphic designer. Visual arts include works which are primarily visual in nature using anything from traditional media, to photography or computer generated art. Graphic design principles may be applied to each graphic art element individually(mentioned earlier) as well as to the final composition—the mock-up. Typography is the art, craft and techniques of type design, modifying type glyphs, and arranging type. Type glyphs (characters) are created and modified using a variety of illustration techniques. The arrangement of type is the selection of typefaces, point size, tracking (the space between all characters used), kerning (the space between two specific characters), and leading (line spacing). The page layout aspect of graphic design deals with the arrangement of elements (content) on a page, such as image placement, and text layout and style. Beginning from early illuminated pages in handcopied books of the Middle Ages and proceeding down to intricate modern magazine and catalogue layouts, structured page design has long been a consideration in printed material. With print media, elements usually consist of type (text), images (pictures), and occasionally place-holder graphics for elements that are not printed with ink such as die/laser cutting, foil stamping or blind embossing. Since the advent of the World Wide Web(www) and computer software development, many graphic designers have become involved in interface design. This has included web design and software design, when end user interactivity is a design consideration of the layout or interface. Combining visual communication skills with the interactive communication skills of user interaction and online branding, graphic designers often work with software developers and web developers to create both the look and feel of a web site or software application and enhance the interactive experience of the user or web site visitor. An important aspect of interface design is icon design. Considers how a user interacts with and responds to an interface, ser vice or product and adjusts it accordingly.
