PRODUCT DESIGN
Yudan Chen My name is Yudan Chen, I m currently attending the 9th semester of a product design course at the design school of Offenbach(Hfg Offenbach) in Germany. This portfolio gathers a selection of the best works that I have developed both at school and at work, organized so as to show my skills and also the different subjects that I have approached on design. All works include a short description to unvell what is behind every single detail and also to show my conceptual and systematic thinking

1 VIBEYES Designsprojekt for the deafblind There is also a prevalent misconception in modern society that if a person who is disabled accomplishes some goal, such as attaining a college degree or winning a sporting competition, the disability essentially vanishes, and life becomes “normal” for the still-disabled person. This is probably the result of films and literature that conclude with the disabled main character achieving a goal at the end of the story, leaving the audience to assume the challenges have been “conquered” once and for all. Unfortunately, the reality of life for people who are deaf-blind is not so simple. --Deafblind Reality Living the Life Scott M. Stoffel

Emotion
Emotion The Problems First is the direction of communication. That means if the communication takes place, you have to know where the conversation partner is, otherwise the conversation is meaningless. Secondly emotional communication is also important. The normal people use the facial expressions and crooked movements to communicate the emotion. For the deafblind, the emotional information has almost not arrived because they cannot see or hear. The solution of the problem is to rebuild the lost bridge with technical applications.

Technology The connection between Python and other software is also possible. The pictures shown on the right show us the connection with Grasshopper. There is a possibility that the transformation of the object is controled by the facial expressions.

Concept &Development
Grade 3 Grade 2 Grade 1 No Feeling
The sensitivities test aimed to find out the ideal area for the vibration on the surface of humanbody. The points shows different sensitivity grades from 0 to 3, which means almost no feeling to very sensitive. As the result, the back of oberbody is a ideal area for the vibration.

Concept &Pattern Language
Pattern Language The charactor of the emotional express can be defined in this polygon matrix as the graphic showed below. Based on the research of the sensitivities, the emotions were defined in 6 noninterfering models, each emotion can be clearly feel by the vibration.

2 Co-Robot System Designsprojekt with Wรถhner Currently control cabinets are made of metal. The basic structure consists of a frame, which is covered with sheet metal. The products are usually placed on a mounting plate. The cabinet is always mounted in the factory in Rรถdental. When transporting from the production site to the place of destination, therefore, especially air is transported.

Idea &User Scenario
Security The Co-Robot System allows the techniker to work with assistance of a robotic automation system. The components are gaven as an input to the system.
The automation system can transport and install the components without help of human labor, which makes the system safer and more user friendly.
User-experience
Installation
With real-tiime feedback, the techniker can control the robot through an user iinterface to install or replace the component.
Fire extinguishing system ,emergency system and risk evaluate and detect system are intergrated into the grid system, this keeps it either for the workers or the system itself safe.

160mm 600mm
The scale of the shelving system is based on the size of the crossboard. Each cell is 600mm by 600mm with the holematrix in the background. With the help of the holematrix, with which the weight of the backboard is lighter, the shelving system can be cooled down quickly
The connection of the shelving system is the focus of the design. With the auto-developing algorithm, you get the minimum surface area from the connection. This improves the structure ideally for the movement of the robot.

B-to-C Model As the analysis of existing market, the most customers are hotels or fitniss studios. Can we mind the market deeply directly to the user? The design concept Bällebad is trying to introduce the usage of solarbank to the users at home, which means the user can easily buy the little unit and put into to bathtub and enjoy the experience. This product transfer the business from B-to-B to B-to-C and have the potential to expand the market.

Cleaning and recharging
The B to C concept makes sure that the solar-bank can be with a ideal logistik method to be delivered to the user directly. The customers can easily find the product in any retail terminal.
The customer can buy packages depending on their own demand and enjoy the sunbathing, instead in fitniss studios, hotels, or other organizations, easily at home.
The product should be strong enough and waterproof ,and inaddition mechanical charging, so that users can seaily put the products into the washmachine for cleaning and recharging.

The Form Development With the research of the polyhedron in Rhino 5 comes the variants that can interact with the points and the reflection on a sphere. The more possibilities there are, the better the form evolves. After that I chose the best ones and developed them further Premodel is the necessary process of product design as it can show the possibilities to get the ideal shape. The polyhedron is an ideal direction for the „ball bath“, but with the premodel, there are several variants. The designer should consider this in order to balance the advantages and the disadvantages.
Form Research
Design &Rendering
In Ball‘s design, due to the product language, several curves are used, so the sphere looks soft to show accessibility and tactility. The goledene curves are not only patten but also the Matel structure, so that they can support the weight and stress, because the OLED surface is weak and easy to be destroied.

4 Sound Path Exhibition design with Senckenberg Museum Digital exhibits in the Natural History Museum The course deals with spatial, vivid, tangible and social communication formats in natural history museums using digital media. The design task is the communication of a scientific fact using authentic objects

User Behavior &Measure
The information consists of three parts, text sounds and pictures. Compared to the other method, texts are ideal for visitors to have deeper information. With sounds and speech, visitors can more easily immerse themselves in the atmosphere. Visitors can get more visual information during the enjoyment of real exhibits. Visual information is definitely important too. With images and videos the environment is built up for imagination
25
Idea &User Scenario
Inforzones We have defined 3 zones for the sound. In the center is the exhibit, then zone one is with detailed information. Next there is zone two with the special points of the exhibit (barking of the dog). The third zone is after that with the sound of the living environment (the sea or the forest)
