1.O THREE RELATIONSHIP Three design tectonics were introduced during the first six weeks: ‘Point, Line & Plane’, ‘Mass’ and ‘Frame and infill’. Through model making and sketching, the tectonics were comprehensively analyzed which formed a solid foundation for my final design.

1.1 POINT/LINE/PLANE INTERSECTION TURNING AND TWISTING TRANSFORMATION CONNECTION
PRECEDENTS
These precedents reflects the building like a folding paper, a good example showing the progressional interrelationship between the point, line and plane. The plane was folded to create the volume which also defined the lines at the foldings. The interlaced line produce the good lighting performance and enhance the linear tension of the building.
DESIGN CONCEPT The point of this model are the intersection points of where the element insert to another elements, the turning points of each element change their angle to connect toghther and the third one we can get it from these column at the top of view. In the plan of this model, we can find out columns act as the point. The whole geometric form of this model also provided by turning, twisting and inserting of the planes. Also, from the elevation, the main pathway of the model structure given by some complicated broken line. This kind of design aims to let the concept of line run through the whole model instead of only a part of design.

MASS DRAWING
When we are talking about mass. Most of people think of the words related to extremly dark, rigid line, weighty material and enormous solid form. But in my opinion, the image of mass can be produce by the soft and gentle curved line. I think it is become more powerful interpreation of mass by demonstrating the strong and intensive contrast between dark and light, solid and void, softness and hardness. Actually the inspiration of this underground space is the person who stand in the middle of the wave of sea. The oppressing sensation given by the large volumn of water is not less than the hard and strong concrete. It can show that the sense of mass in not only hard and tough, but also soft and stiffness.
1.3 FRAME AND INFILL FOLDING PANEL CONTRAST CURVING UNDERGROUND SPACE LIGHTING
PRECEDENTS
The following photoes show that: -the curve folding panel can infill the rigid frame -The distinctive twisting and organization of the simple frame -The infill occupies space, however it is almost transparent in that it lacks meteriality, it is highly insubstantial.
DESIGN CONCEPT
In my design, i try to keep the basic configuration but with some kind of rotating, twisting and substracting. It will enhance the visual attraction rather than the regular cube with square shape. The infill should be more dynamic and gentle. In my model, mostly they are just the panel folding and twisting. The bottom space, the infill element are wavey and elastic. They produce the highly construst with the outside frame. The middle top plane, although the infill are produced by lots of straight line, but this is still soft and gentle surface which keep the coherence with the bottom plane.
At the left place, i used spaindly balsa with a small gap to let the light to come in. In other way, in this space, you can say the light also is the method with infill thw internal space.

ESCAPE FROM METRO
2.1 SITE ANALYSIS It was a geographically fully enclosed island. I felt it was separated from the Melbourne City. The island was mainly used as a family retreat or as an escape from the moden city. It was a man-made island, but it allowed the visitor’s to feel the nature. The dual quality of the island was very interesting which i would be further development in the final project.

The above images are the major inspiration for form in my design of secret.
2.1 CONCEPTACLE
-the slant cube is my main form finding method of conceptacle model refer to the frame and infill task. -emgerged cube produce the above ground level and underground level in a single geometric form. -the curve and gentle spatial design of the underground space show the theme of my mass drawing and my frame and infill model. It makes higher contrast with the above ground level. -Light is an element which can infill the space in particular way. So the light gap at right include this design concept.
2.2 CONCEPTACLE DEVELOPMENT The main concept of my design is the process which people try to explore the secrets. -maze produced by the folding panel which refer to the PLP and frame and infill model. -destination of the maze will be the place for hidding secret. -another kind of secret hide in the underground space, differ to the rigid folding panel at the above ground. The contrast of spatial organization reflect the contrast bewteen representation and secret in the deep side.

Also, the underground triangle space is the secret shelter place which provide to just one person to complete the individual activities.
3.0 FINAL DESIGN
PRECEDENTS
-the journey in the maze can be shown the process of explore the secret of this place or person. -almost each entry of maze let people to engage each ‘gallery’. -thin or thick folding panel create the unique space (tunnel) to connect each section. -the gap of this panel let light come through. -geometry shape of plan -simple angled cube space -include under and above ground pavilion. -curve line, cuving form of shape produced by the dynamic lines are used to create the diatinguish the function or the group the people.(different space contains different number of people) -contrast with cube(external) and round(internal).

PRECEDENTS In chichu museum, the exhibition room and corridor not only just for act as the transitions but also represented the ides of unfolding and revealing space. Also, the sequence of the light shows the human journey underground.

3.2 FINAL DESIGN PERSPECRIVE & JOURNEY This reflective metal tunnel of my model is the main pathway connect the left and right, above ground and underground. The people which from above ground level only can go the underground by the stair in this tunnel instead of the each building at two sides. The feeling of isolation is the one of main concept of secret i want to show.
3.2 FINAL DESIGN PERSPECRIVE & JOURNEY
For my design, I make the maze which represent my main concept. Almost all transparent wall let more people notice the distinctive internal space. Also, the journey of people try to find the destination of maze reflect the process of finding the secret. When people walk in the journey they will probably lost and confused.(like secret usually makes people confused and encourage the curiousity.
3.2 FINAL DESIGN PERSPECRIVE & JOURNEY Located at the underground space below the maze. I try to fabricate the soft and curving space which constrast with the folding rigid panel of the maze. This option shows that the hided secret are often diametrically opposed with the representation. Also, this is the other kind of place for secret (only children can identify). Then, for the right underground highlight the single personal space and experience.
4.0 REFLECTION
The tectonic studies in the first 6 weeks was really helpful and inspiring for me. They helped me to break down the complicated design into the smallar pieces and understand the rationality behind them. After analysing and visualising three tectonics. i had a better understanding of the relationship between underground, ground and above ground which later became a solid base for my final project. Precedent research was another useful session of my design. Learning from the precedents was not only about simply copying the shape, but also follow the spatial organization and spirits. During the final design development. multiple methods such as sketch, create and comfirm the concept and model making (both digital and physical). I could work on my concepts visually and physically. In conclusion, this subject help me fo find out what the real meaing of the ‘architecture’ and ‘art’ and how to intergrate them perfectly. This is my destination in the future study.
