However, as I entered middle age, nostalgia made me realize the beauty of homeland. The smell of earth is slight but alluring, and the everlasting freshness made me hear the calling of my hometown. It is now that I understand the greatness of our vigorous mother earth. Her productivity keeps the Earth rotating and keeps human beings living. Yunlin Township is the blueprint of this appreciation. In the last three years, Yunlin Township has the largest amount of agricultural produces, and its marketing even leaps to the top in Taiwan. Safety agriculture is the goal we have been trying to achieve by all means. The government subsidizes farming machinery, promotes non-chemical agriculture treatments, establishes chemical examination stations, and expands greenhouse construction to more than 100 acres. Creating their unique brands, farmers of Yunlin Township aggressively lead Taiwan towards international development, starting a new era of agriculture. Until now, agriculture has become a steady foundation of economy worldwide. Being the agriculture capital is the honor of Yunlin Township. Although our past is not as glorious as big cities, and although we lack the advantageous conditions other towns might have, our ancestors have fought their way through all the difficulties and passed their love for this land on to the next generation. They have overcome the obstacles, raising the value of agriculture to a new level and changing the destiny of Yunlin residents. The unlimited vitality hidden in this land belongs to Yunlin Township. I sincerely welcome all of you to experience my appreciation for our mother earth.
