PROPOSED COMIC ART PROJECT AT JALAN PERHENTIAN, SENTUL, KUALA LUMPUR FOR MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION In the 1980’s and 90’s the comic industry of Malaysia was the stage for reflecting the country’s s ocial, environmental and economic i mage. With time, however, t he public a cceptance o f comic h as w aned. The goal of “Comic A rt P roject” is t o revive M alaysian comic b oth locally a nd internationally b y providing a centre f or t he public t o gain b etter understanding a bout l ocal comic. It i s a multi-functional d evelopment comprising exhibition, academic and commercial premises. It will not act as a gallery to watch and view products, but act as an arena for educating the public a bout comic p rocess f rom idea g eneration until p roduction stage, and its c apability t o evolve within t he community i n terms of m edia presentation. A mongst the main d esign s trategies are m aximizing public space and access at ground level, comic container as main gallery, open studio concept for creative factory, and green parks as intermediate space. Besides these f unctional and philosophical design a pproaches, t he technical aspects o f structural system, fire prevention and various M &E services are each endowed w ith i nnovation in t he various m echanisms. Located in Sentul, “Comic Art Project’ will become the national attraction for comic in the middle of the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.

1) because malaysia climate is wet and dry, where wind is strong and rain is cold, it is an advantage for me as a designer to maximise enough natural ventilation inside the building. My intention is to have big opening towards both entrace as a welcoming space where at the same time let the air enter in and out which cold and refresh the air inside simultaneously. 2) my focus is to have the visitor comfortable when they enter the exhibition space. Due to the size of the exhibition space is big and full with interactive activities, it is important to have flexible air-conditioning arrangement so that the occupants can obtained appropriate temperature at different angle. 3) for each space which need to Have control in terms of temperature and usage, it is better to let them use fan-coil airditioning system. Besides it i s easier t o let them t o independantly control the setting rather than t o control their room temperature because of their nature which is more towards to privacy

The padestrian bridge is connected with the ktm sentul hence create an efficient integration of public transportation towards the site. The padestrian bridge direct the padestrian towards rear access and main lobby.

The comic park is intent to become as the welcoming space of the site from the main road. It also become as the welcoming area for padestrian who come from the ktm sentul. All comic activities with entertainment purpose will be held here. The red colour intent to provoke the spirit and mood of the site to become more outrageous and appealing.
The comical lobby will be the indtroduction regarding on the comic agenda. Why comic is b eing promoted? How c omic could attract people easily? What is comic and its history?. This will not become a typical l obby, instead t his will b e the prelimenary introduction space o f comical world which f ull with i magination and possibilities.
The comic theather will become as the main phyical interaction of comic theme a nd t he viewer. Pyhisical interaction somehow i s more neutral and interesting to be applied regarding o n info-taining session b etween p ublic a nd comical subject. The comic theater can be changed its form by manipulate the seating into amphitheather, which will use for special event.
This is t he p lace where all the building management i s being authorised. T he l ocation of t he office enable the admin to observe the lobby area a nd p ayable area effectively besides giving nice view externally.
This is the dedicated space for education purpose. Both educator and student will go throught learning and teaching process together regarding on comic drawing skills. Besides, talk and conferance will be held here by professional both local and international to enhance the knowledge towards the public awareness on comic. Comic artist studio A comic studio for comic artist is designed at the middle where it can be view from outside. Public can see throughout the comic production process where the meta-design of comic prodction frame work can be study and taken into consideration in order the public to know how comic is produced and designed.
CRIT STUDIO
The crit studio i s the p rominent s pace for the comic artist and public to i nteract and s hare their ideas. There are certain session which will be arranged so that every product of the artist publised will b e crit and review b y the public/reader. This c an i mprove the s kills and idea o f that p articular a rtist besides meet the demand and requirement of the user.
This is the intermediate level where artist and public will have their leisure moment together on the green service roof.
The structure is called hyper-beam due to its efficiency in supporting extra load through evolution of material and shape. The hyper-beam is connected to each of the core and its tranverse unit supporting direct the steel beam on top of it.
“LIVING COMICAL EXHIBITION”
Each of the space fit with different kind of comic genre. The space is set to be modular and can be change regularly. However it is important to set a benchmark in that “living comical exhibition” with set of comic artist with strong character and influence. 8 comic artist has been selected and the space is intepreted based on their comic character.

To make the people enter into the world of comic IMAGINATON and translate it into REALITY form in the sence of AMBIENCE through BASIC ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS.
The intention of this space is to evoke the comic environment, bringing the people into the imagination of comic. This will become the tranverse space of imagination into reality where the occupants will act and live in comic space, interact with comic environment and encounter varieties of unusual space.
WHERE THIS SPACE LEAD? THE OCCUPANTS WILL BE GUIDED INTO VARIOUS KIND OF IMAGINATION SPACE; LETS TAKE LAT AS AN EXAMPLE. IN THIS COMICAL EXHIBITION, LAT’S ARTWORK WHICH IS KAMPUNG BOY WILL BECOME AS THEME FOR AMBIENCE SETTING IN THAT PARTICULAR SPACE.

The automation seating consist of latest technology of seating innovation where the seat can store automatically and fast inside the floor using rotation system. The height of the seats are controlled by hydraulic system and due to that, the level of the seating can be control and change according to the activity in this particular theater.
