ROMANCING THE CULTIVATED CITY @SENTUL ELYMPIOUS, KUALA LUMPUR The urban landscape in sentul is fast changing. Other than the newly built lrt station , the technological connection to r ail communication of sentul history isn’t obvious a nymore. W e wonder wherher that p art of sentul’s history cannot once again be re-ignited to re-energise the district in parallel with more knowledge-intensive industries. This is not to say that sentul has been a f orgotten corner o f the city. A recent personal v isit t o sentul east confirms t he g lobal face t hat is s lowly masking t he area. I n manicured landscape could easily t ranspose one t o zaha hadid’s beijing project. Despite, a degree of social in-equilibrium could also be felt. The feeling of gated imported communities is definitely t here. The t owering a partments evoke a posh yuppie lifestyle. This is not suprising, given the unit value of at least h alf a million ringgit each. The i ssue of g entrification of t he l ocal communities ( emma chong, 2012) can be easilydeciphered here. PROJECT ABSTRACT
Sentul was once part of the avanced indsutrial hub of the nation. Located strategically b y a river, i t hosted the pioneering network o f railway technology in the 19th century. The fucntion of the historical railway system towards t he c ountry’s t ransformation is t remendous w hen s een in t he context of r ubber-related i ndustries and tin-mining related industries. However, the country’s economic base is repidly changing. Malaysia now i s more dependent o n manufacturing and service-oriented industries. A s a “newly d eveloping n ation”, knowledege-based economy becomes the crux o f the nation’s endeavour. By y ear 2020, m alaysia i s expected to made up of 50% of urban population which means half of the country’s population will be residing in urban areas in comparison to rural areas. This is the first time in history such a scenario occurs. In conjunction to the rise of urban population rate, kuala lumpur’s population is expected to increase by 30% by 2050. With such high record of migration into the city and rapid urbanization, the government are striving to improve their citizen’s quality of life. Early 21st century efforts include several i nitiative executed b y the malaysian government in the efforts of refining the city for its people. Initiatives such as greater kl, mrt project, kl river of life along with the introduction of the gbi building rating system has been a collective effort in making kuala lumpur more sustainable. This set of initiatives or tools is vital in order for our city to sustain and remain relevant over the course of 100 years, for better or for worse at the beginning of 22nd century, the uncontrolled world technology has b een c ausing the threats and depletion o f the earth resources. T he mother earth now suffering from the global warming causing the sea level to rise and forest depletion. If by the 2113, sentul is still driven by the same system ,by not r esponding to t he e xtreme climatic a nd e nvironmental change as it is today, sentul is expected to be a sick and deserted land .

This site is located within the automobile industry context and most of the paremeter in this site is enclosed with heave industr y activity. The area of this site which will took place in the massive design idea for next 2113 is noted to be 65.18 acre. Main activity in this place is conquered by heavy industry activity, which dominant in terms of economic sector basically. Local and outside e ntreprenuer take t his place as t heir m ain hub f or automobile spare part services which include import and export item.

In the next 100 years, society will be seperate without knowing the importance of e ducation especially regarding on t he t echnical parts. MASTERPLAN SETTING The p roposed m aster p lan setting is l ocated i n the heart of k uala l umpur, specifically in the northern boundary of kuala lumpur’s city centre. The site is situated inside sentul-manjelara district, one of the 6 districts included in the federal t erritory. It i s also one o f the largest d istrict with a n area o f 46.098 km².With reference to the kl structure plan 2020, sentul-manjelara is the 2nd most populated d istrict in k uala l umpur w ith a t otal population o f 445, 0 25 people and the recorded density o f 9,645 p erson/sqm. The actual s etting is located in the southern region of sentul-manjelara district, directly on the city centre boundary w hich possess a d irect gateway i nto the city centre. The proposed setting has been identified and it posess a total area of 8.872 km² and a density rate of 35 person/sqm.

INTENDED TO PRMOTE CLUSTERING OF SIMILAR ACTIVITIES INCORPORATING COMPATIBLE AND NONPOLLUTION INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITIES WITH SUPPORT SERVIES SUCH AS STORAGE, DISTRIBUTIVE TRADE, AND SERVICE INDUSTRIES. THIS ZONE IS PREDOMINANTLY INDUSTRIAL WITH MAXIMUM 30% COMMERCIAL USE

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION URBAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT CONSISTS OF DRIVERLESS PODS, TUBULAR RAIL AND BOATING. IT PROVIDES FASTER SERVICES TO OUTER SUBURBS AND NEIGHBORING TOWNS AND ALONG RIVERSIDE. TRAINS STOP AT STATIONS THAT ARE LOCATED TO SERVE A SMALLER SUBURBAN OR TOWN CENTER.
INTEGRATED TRANSPORTATION ELEVATED : FAST TRAFFIC WILL NOT CIRCULATE AT GROUND LEVEL TO AVOID ACCIDENTS ON THE GROUND. AUTOMATIC : AUTOMATIC DRIVING SYSTEMS NETWORK SYSTEM : VARIOUS TYPES OF LINE WITH DIVERSE ELECTRICAL PROPULSION SYSTEMS AIM : OBTAIN MAXIMUM ENERGY EFFICIENCY.
