THE FOLDED COMMUNITY
The definition of performative is that speech is action just as a circle is a representation of the motion of a compass. The performativity changes the reader’s focus on reality, just as Kublai Khan wanders and gets lost in the invisible city built by Marco Polo’s words. In the face of all the noise in society, I chose to play the role of Marco Polo. My performative interpretation of different field information in daily life promotes my acts of projecting the system of daily behavior onto the paper and reproducing the concepts. Thus, my personal works can become design practice concerned about the everyday life -a resistance in the name of narrative. Daily activities are repeated here, so that the leisure space on the river bank carries the collective memory (- Rosis) . In the face of a new era, a monument is needed to carry the rituals of everyday life from the past.

Marco says, "but I shall not come back to tell you about it. The city exists and it has a simple secret: it knows only departures, not returns." (-Invisible Cities)
In 2016, Folding Beijing, the dystopian fiction, which describes extremely unequal urban spaces, won the Hugo Award. A large fire in 2017 triggered a crackdown on illegal and unsafe housing by city administrators in Beijing, leading to the eviction of large numbers of low-income primitive residents, so that the “Low-end population” on the social issues began to rise the awareness of mass. The plot of the novel -- the exile of low-consumption people -- seems to happen in reality.

THE FOLDED COMMUNITY This proposal envisages that the city administrators make use of developing areas on the outskirts to build low-rent communities as a means of accommodating young people with low incomes/consumption. Besides, it pays attention on how to use the limited site area to provide high-quality living and diversity for the “Low-end population” .
+
'Exiles' The site is located in the commercial area of the Neihu District, surrounded by the main road linking the three urban areas, and also is located in the transportation hub of the commercial centre. There is no neighbourhood community context, and there is no suitable habitat scale or community space. The Minsheng community in the city center has become a symbol of high-quality living environment because it imitates the American planning concept. I took it as a reference and established five operating systems and organized them in my design

Five functional blocks are distributed on different floors.
The functions are divided into different hierarchies, and the functional blocks are placed on the moving flows focus of each floor through the opening and closing of the virtual space.
By creating 3-dimensional moving flows on the street scale in the site, the various functions related to young people on the way home are intersected among the buildings.
The functions, squares and passages constitute to the street system inside the building, which carries the life context with the characteristics of the Minsheng community.

-Looking down from the window of the apartment, everything seemed so orderly that he felt a hint of envy. Starting at a quarter past nine, the stores along the street turned off their lights one after another; groups of friends, their faces red with drink, said goodbye in front of restaurants. Young couples kissed next to taxicabs. And then everyone returned to their homes, and the world went to sleep. -The buildings of the city seemed to be asleep, breathing evenly and calmly. (-“Folding Beijing”)
The site is located at the junction of the commercial street and community road. Mixed commercial and residential format on the west side of the building intersects with the community park on the south side. The channel beside the road gives the site a broad view of the west. The Barcelona-style street profile makes street corners become a square during low traffic period. Inside the arcade, there is a complex family life where multiple generations live together; On the outside, the arcade, balcony and roof are gradually occupied and reused by residents. The street facade becomes the ambiguous boundary between private and public activities. The important thing is that the dialectical opposition between inside and outside will become the main issue of my design.

This proposal understands “Street corner” as the Cross area of two-way arcade, with the following grid. With two gardens, the interior and exterior of the house respectively continue the landscape atmosphere of the street corner and the park. The orientation of the openings in the living room, dining room, and studio respectively matches the functions of work and residence. The cambered wall with perforated material outside the house continues the ambiguous character of the street facades; and. The cross wall not only supports the building structually, but also divides the interior space. The spiral space is formed by the intersection of stairs and corridors in the two directions of Arcade. The space penetrates through the cross wall and has a dual nature of passage and daily use.
The translucent steel windows and rolling shutters are translated into perforated materials in the design. The change from the height of the railing to the height of the third floor makes the wall with perforated panels have a different expression on the commercial street and the community. A small part of the spiraling ramp appears on the outside of the perforated wall on the second floor, facing the corner of the street, becoming a living space for dialogue between family life and community life. In terms of design language, house-in-a-house is an interpretation of the illegal roof construction, and the independence of the lives of the three generations has been given family attributes by the corridor.

Wrapped in a perforated wall, three generations interweave their lives in a spiral corridor. The cross wall defines the family. The two walls serve as a metaphor for the family’s interaction with the outside world and with the inside.

The complicated folk beliefs are the basis of Taiwan’s social culture. Guan Yu’s worship is rooted in the story of the Three Kingdoms. Guan Yu’s story is mythologized in constant retelling and becomes a model of trading and management behavior. Outside the guan Yu temple, markets often develop, allowing the secular and sacred to coexist in the same space.
Huarong path -A story about Guan Yu's loyalty and trust -Chinese name of the Chinese Sliding-Block(”kloski”) An allusion-used to describe people's moral and behavioral dilemmas
“three kingdoms”reflects the transformation of various social struggles and contradictions in the Three Kingdoms era, summarizes the great changes in the history of this era, and shapes a group of heroes of the Three Kingdoms.

Proof of existence(2019) The work consists of a random set of slides, a time-lapse camera mounted opposite the screen, and a series of personal belongings mounted in front of the projection screen. The camera records the scene in front of the screen at regular intervals and places the photo in a slide show. The slides include silhouettes of people in different poses, and when shown, silhouettes and objects such as open and closed umbrellas, different shoes, and satchels shape the poses of people who do not exist. The viewer, the 10-minute-old scene on the slide, and the photos in the scene result in spatiotemporal nesting. The line between being and not being is thus blurred.

With barter as its core, the project aims to maintain the value and significance of second-hand items through the distribution of questionnaires and the holding of bazaars. As a story frame about the use of goods, the guided questionnaire will form a strong connection between the donee and the goods. The questionnaire, as the proof of the adoption of the goods, makes the exchanging parties break through the traditional consumption pattern which is symbolized gradually, so as to gain the understanding of the phenomenological formula of the goods themselves.
During the four-month construction course period, we carried out a complete set of architectural practices on the open space of Panding Christian Center. Because the church is close to the main road, the children who patronize the church have no space to spend time after school. In order for the children to have their own amusement facilities, we carried out land surveying and mapping, base area analysis, design sketch production, material research, and the final injection and construction in the form of group work.

EDUCATION 2016-2020 Department of Architecture, Tunghai University, Taiwan
Architectural studies have helped me to build a perspective to look at the world. "Architecture is a strange discipline. It is obviously a broad and all-encompassing liberal arts discipline, but the actual operation of the discipline is related to people's lives, which is more rigorous and even archaic than any humanities and arts discipline. The actual results of housing projects, which are obviously made of pillars, beams, walls and panels, are also often discussed and criticized in the field of art and even social science." The five-year study at Tunghai Universtity was a series of cycles from confusion to enlightenment.
2018.7-2018.8 Rome Practical Courses-Tunghai University&Cornell University
During my college years, I had very rich exchange and internship experiences. In my junior year, I participated in an off-site teaching program jointly organized by Tunghai and Cornell University. We stepped into the field of Roman architectural history and got a real life experience of the area where the remnants are located. In my senior year, I exchanged to the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore to participate in their MarchI course. Through a series of research studies on the Kuo Pao Kun Memorial Theatre, I came to understand the geopolitical history of Singapore and the context of the theatrical activities, and through this process of design practice, I gradually acquired the ability to conduct localized research in unfamiliar places. I spent two internship periods in Xiamen and Shanghai during the vacations. By meetings with the masters, I learned about the mode of division of labor and collaboration of the design companies. During this period, I participated in concept design and discussion, base data compilation, model making, base planning, spatial research, and other practical contents.

The architecture department maintains a rigorous professional curriculum, but it also takes up almost all of an architecture student's time. It is easy for architecture students to become self-absorbed due to the pressure and the closed curriculum of the department. This, in turn, confirms the need for a community or interdepartmental exchange platform as a complement to eye-opening and cross-disciplinary collaboration. For the past five years, I have mainly chosen Po-ya School as a platform for club activities. Through my studies at the School, I gradually learned to put my knowledge and thoughts from both inside and outside of architecture into social practice. I eventually completed all of the School's courses and became the first architectural student ever to successfully graduate from Po-ya School. Now, with my eyes set on a more international and distant future, I hope to be given the opportunity of studying in Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment of UCL. I believe that it would be an excellent opportunity for me to keep learning, loving and growing, and that Bartlett's top academic standards and the inclusive academic environment would be a great opportunity to broaden my horizons and refine myself. I want to be one of you, with a pure enthusiasm for architecture, enjoying the profound heritage of countless geniuses over the history of UCL. I believe that my love for architecture and my current design perspective and skills will shine through at Bartlett.
