Dilawar was a clever thief. He robbed the rich and gave all to the sick and the needy. The other thieves were jealous of him. They planned to get rid of him. There were three thieves, one day the robbed a landlord and escaped to a forest, the decided to have a feast before dividing their booty. One thief went to the bazaar to buy sweets and other eatable. He was very greedy. He wanted all the booty for himself so he decided to mix some poison in the sweets. The two, who were left behind, were also very greedy. They decided that they would kill him as soon as he returned, when they saw him coming, they did behind trees and suddenly attacked the poor theif and killed him. They were now to happy. They would both get a sweets shared. They wanted to celebrated the occasion. They are all the sweets but alas! They both died too.

It is the main advocacy event for focusing the global attention on the prevention of blindness and rehabilitation of the visually impaired under the umbrella â&#x20AC;&#x153;Vision 2020: The Right to Sightâ&#x20AC;?. I am Pardeep Kumar Lund. I belong to middle class business family of Ghotki. I have got education from Roshan Tara Model Higher Secondary School Ghotki. I am proud to be Roshantarian. Q. What were your feelings when you came to know that you had topped in Ghotki district in pre -entry test for admission to M.B.B.S? A. I was very happy and glad. I have been burning midnight oil in pursuit of education and I was sure of my success. The whole family is pleased with me. I have brought honour to my family and the institute. Q. Will you be simply an M.B.B.S doctor or want to do something special in medical science? A. I want to be a good cardiologist. After doing M.B.B.S here, I plan to proceed to the States for specialization in heart diseases. Q. After doing your specialization in America, will you return back to Sindh or get settled there or somewhere else? A. Sindh is my motherland. Definitely I will come back to Sindh to serve my own people. Q. Do you watch television?

A. Yes, I watch television, specially the educational programs on different channel. But I donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t spend too much time on watching television. Instead I give time to reading my course books. Q. How much time do you spend daily on study? A. From six to eight hours daily. Q. What is your greatest achievement in life? A. It is still ahead. Q. Tips For Spoken English Prof.K S Nagpal Learning a language involves many things, but to speak a language, one need not learn the whole language. For example, when you learn speaking your mother tongue, you did not study all the grammar and all the literature that was there in your mother tongue. In the same way, to learn to speak English you need not learn all that is there in â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;English as a language.â&#x20AC;? Spoken English is a skill and can be mastered with â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Practiceâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;. When you begin learning Spoken English, it should be clear to you that what for do you want to learn it? That is , setting your aim. All of you may have different aims for learning spoken English. Whatever your aims be, two aspects are clear 1. You want to understand what others speak in English. 2. You want to speak to others in English with ease, when situa on demands it. I hope these two are your basic needs whatever your aim of learning of spoken English be. Once you make up your mind to learn it, keeping the above two needs before your eyes, next work out a daily timetable that suits you well. I suggest you to spare at least 20/30 minutes every day: you may take one or two friends â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;or othersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; with you. The administration of justice is the firmest pillar of government By: Talreja Washu Ram, Principal RTS Pano Akil There is no doubt about the fact that justice provides the firmest pillar to a government. A government resting on justice is the best one, as it could adequately redress the grievances of people. Hence every society should endeavour to establish a government which could dispense justice to all and sundry without any discrimination. It is an inny of fate that we have failed in establishing such a type of government in Pakistan. The result is that real justice has evaporated from Pakistan. The people are the victim of gross injustices. Dispensation of justice flows out of independent judiciary. The judiciary in Pakistan is not independent as it is under the influence of the establishment. A judiciary with clipped wings cannot provide justice to the people. Our judiciary on the whole, has remained subservient to the dictation of the executive. That is why it has been justifying the military take over in Pakistan at different times under the cover of the necessity-doctrine. Judges taking oaths under PCO cannot be expected to do justice to the people. It is rather unfortunate. If it succeeds in that, it would be laying a firm base for the provision of justice to all and sundry. Governments own fragility would end when it could held build the pillar of justice in Pakistan. It would be a right step in the right direction, as once regime of justice and merit come to prevail in the society, many social vices like corruption and injustice would terminate. For the purpose the ideology of expediency would have to go permanently.

Even the simplest words misspoken will keep you from effectively communicating with native English speakers. Achieving good pronunciation should be your main goal. You already know the grammarâ&#x20AC;Śprobably better than native speakersâ&#x20AC;Śand the vocabulary will come in time. Many people, especially those who have not studied a foreign or second language, are easily irritated if they cannot quickly understand what non-native speakers are saying. This is sad but often true. The importance of good pronunciation can be easily realized by visiting a predominantly English speaking country and talking to the native speakers. If they constantly reply to your statements with â&#x20AC;&#x153;what?â&#x20AC;?, â&#x20AC;?huh?â&#x20AC;? or â&#x20AC;?could you repeat thatâ&#x20AC;?, then you know your pronunciation needs work. Going to a foreign country is the best way to assess your speaking skills. Keep in mind that your friends may be from the same country as you and make the

â&#x20AC;Ť ×?â&#x20AC;Ź same pronunciation mistakes. For this reason they cannot accurately judge your speaking abilities. If you should visit another country, go out and talk to people. You may want the comfort of speaking in your native language but to become a better English speaker, you have to talk to native speakers. Pronunciation and accent Pronunciation teachers usually agree that there are three basic levels of English pronunciation. â&#x20AC;˘ People usually donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t understand what you are saying. â&#x20AC;˘ People usually understand what you are saying but you may have to repeat your statements for clarification. â&#x20AC;˘ People understand what you are saying the first time. This level is the goal of most English language learners. Many non-native speakers worry about having an obvious accent when they speak English. This is unavoidable and depends on where you study English. Realize that the English spoken in England, Australia or Canada is different than the English spoken in the United States. Even within these countries there is a wide range of accents. People from New York speak different English than people from California. Realize though, that if your pronunciation is good, you will be understood anywhere you go. To achieve a â&#x20AC;&#x153;standard accentâ&#x20AC;? in any country, listen to news broadcasts to get an idea of what typical native speakers in that area sound like. Pronunciation tips â&#x20AC;˘ The most important thing to remember is practice. Learning English takes time but if you practice often you will soon improve and be able to pronounce words like a native speaker. â&#x20AC;˘ Practice pronunciation in front of a mirror. You have to train your mouth to move in new ways in order to make new sounds. Watch your mouth as you speak. â&#x20AC;˘ Think about each word before you say it. Try to imagine the position your mouth needs to be in to produce the sound. â&#x20AC;˘ What you see is not always what you get. Remember that the spelling of words and their pronunciation are often different. â&#x20AC;˘ Recognize that the English language has many different dialects depending on the country and the different regions within a particular country.
