THE INTRODUCTION

SPATIAL CONNECTION

This project was to explore design principles and organisation from a series of 2D drawings and then later experiment the possibilities of design through 3 Dimension models

My concept is to make a sleek geometrical system which creates a spatial connection between each block and object, which makes the centre seems afloat. In this project, I have used mainly

By combining all three of Solid, Plane and Skeletal Model, a selections of features were combined to become one highly integrated model.

music-artwork

MUSIC – In the clouds (Astron) ‘In the Clouds’ is an emotional therapy music which can penetrate your mind and make you think of the memories from the past, like having a flashback. The form of the music is simple (using minimum instrument), direct and strongly repetitive, yet not boring. When the same rhythm is repeated again with a gradual increase in loudness and strength, listeners will indirectly dig deeper into their endless sea of memories, with a smooth transition

Our artwork is adepiction of a man in two antipodal stages of life, ‘Birth’ and ‘Death’, with growing process as a connection between these two stages. The human figure was left blank to symbolize a newborn brings nothing to this world and a man can take nothing from this world upon death. Different colours were used to symbolize different stages in our life: Youth, Vitality, Self-discovery, Maturity, Midlife, Death, where the concept was strengthen by using two objects, dandelion as growing up and leaves falling as getting nearer toward death.

Concept o f this project i s to create a small, portable flat pack shelter which can expand into a large s tructure. The concept f eatures t he growth m ovement o f organism, from r ise to downfall. Relation to artwork: A growth process of human started from 0 to its peak s tage, f ollowed by a a sharp decline. Similarly the mechanism of the model features the growth process o f human, extended f rom its base following the curve of growth. Intention: For t raveller who loves sketching, t hey can choose a spot and erect the structure easily to produce t heir art in a sheltered condition. Allow them to rest and sleep as well.

PROCESS OF SETTING UP THE SHELTER BESIDE WATER FALL AREA WATERFALL

Each set of pipe are made with similar joint with a reduction of scale as the pipes proceeds. This allows the shelter to be retracted and extended according to consumer needs. A thin sheet of PU fabric is used to shelter the consumer. As it was constructed by pipes, the rotation of the joint is smooth but on the poor side, it is too heavy as we used a high density pipe for a better strength.

FLOWING

BETWEEN TWO LANDS

The concept of the cafe was to connects two main attractions from two seperated lands together, provides a shorter channel for pedestrain and at the same time generates a higher numbers of traffic flow through the cafe to produce more income. Major materials are timber and steel, which indicates the joining of a modern structure (steel canopy) and a organic structure (bamboo playhouse)

COMMUNITY ARCHITECTURE

project brief

PROJECT BRIEF Our task is to build a gazebo for students in TIKL in a tight budget of 4000 myr within a short period of time roughly two months. The site we chose is located beside their canteen which is a hotspot for students. We saw the oppurnity to utilized the unused land for construct our gazebo for a communal space for both students and parents.

ideation & drawings

IDEATION Our design is greatly driven by budget and eco-friendly. For an instance, our furniture are all made of reclaimed materials such as used tyres and wood planks, and our roof are made of reclaimed aluminium carton boxes. By doing this it save us a vast amount of cost in the construction of gazebo.
