Winter hiking at the Winkler hotels

Week after week, Manuel shows you the most stunning spots in snowy Val Pusteria. With or without snowshoes you head for the Dolomites and Val Pusteria mountains, where we always make every effort to provide variety and a wealth of adventures when selecting the 5 weekly tours. Are you already excited? You should be too. We already get off to a great start on Mondays, for example with an easy winter hike up to the Lechner Alm, which leads through idyllic forests to stunning viewing points. On Tuesdays the Kradorfer Alm is on the agenda, where the picturesque Valle di Casies is discovered during approximately 2.5 hours. And anyone who liked the view here will love the one up the Strudelkopf, that’s namely where Wednesday’s tours with Manuel lead. Equipped with snowshoes you set off on the moderately difficult hike to the 2,307 metre high peak in the Braies Dolomites in 3 hours in total. On Thursdays we surprise you with a fantastic panorama during the winter hike up to the Malga Pertinger. The crowning glory to the week might be the tobogganing outing to the Pircher Alm on Fridays. The trip would be worth it for the hike alone through Valle di Tures ed Aurina under a thick blanket of snow, which the impressive 3,000 metre peaks watch over, but then there’s also the fun toboggan run which rounds off the week perfectly.

As part of Europe's largest cross-country skiing network, the "Dolomiti Nordicski", the Plan de Corones holiday resort is an absolute top destination for cross-country skiers. The vast network of trails encompasses roughly 1,300 kilometres, which lead right across the Dolomite regions. All around Plan de Corones you can find superbly prepared classic and skater tracks for every level of difficulty. You can find the first trails just a few steps away from your Winkler hotel: there are several routes in Santo Stefano, for example the one to Riscone. In Falzes there is a roughly 4 km long circular trail which is perfect for cool training and itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s an approximately 10 minute drive to the cross-country skiing paradise near San Vigilio from Mantana.

MMM – Messner Mountain Museum Corones and Ripa The 6th and youngest of the museums, created by the South Tyrolean extreme mountaineer Reinhold Messner, opened its doors in the summer of 2015. It was designed by world famous Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid. The 5th MMM “Ripa” in the (according to its creator) “most beautiful” location, the castle in Brunico, is dedicated to mountain people and opened in 2011.
