BASTON CAR SHOW
There were some familiar vehicles among those on display, though some owners had travelled from further afield to take part in this popular event.
The success of the Baston Car & Bike Show is down to the wide appeal of the cars, commercial vehicles and motorbikes on display which range from early examples through to exhibits from the current day.
Baston basks in the sun for their big drive-in event says David Brown The Baston Car & Bike Show had their most successful event to date on July 1 with hundreds of display vehicles and visitors making the most of the glorious weather. The aim of the event, established eight years ago, was to put on an all-inclusive event appealing to anyone with an interest in cars and motorbikes – old and more recent vehicles – to show them off. In their first year around 350 vehicles were on show – in 2018 its was more than 800!
Several of the local car dealerships get involved in the Baston event to bring the latest models for the visitors to see for themselves.
Support attractions include local car dealerships showing off some of the latest models to visitors, plus trade stands, food and drink outlets, children’s rides and games, and a varied choice of live music throughout the day. To date, the Show has raised almost £60,000, most of which has been donated to local organisations and good causes.
The Best in Show award this year was presented for an immaculate 1956 3442cc Jaguar XK140. Former BRM racing car mechanic Peter Bracewell (left) is seen receiving the Trophy from Antony Squires. 25
