The Deepings Practice celebrated 70 years of the National Health Service on the 5th July by holding an open event for its patients. The Patient Participation Group were present, raising money for research with a highly successful cake sale. The Practice has expanded significantly over recent years and this celebration provided an opportunity to unveil the onsite theatre which now enables patients to have procedures such as vasectomies, hernias and carpel tunnel operations without having to go to hospital.
An open evening was held for staff and invited guests including doctors who had retired from service. Chairman of Deeping St James Parish Council, Andrew Bowell was present and said. “It was a great honour to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the NHS with the doctors and staff from the Deepings Practice. On more than one occasion my life had been saved by the caring skilful staff of the NHS.” David Shelton, Mayor of Market Deeping praised the tour by Practice Manager, Jo Kevan and commented, “I was most impressed to see the recently expanded surgery, created to cover the estimated increase in the population of the Deepings.” 33
