It’s Pumpkin Time!

Carve a pumpkin, label it and bring it to Swines Meadow - all pumpkins can be viewed on Saturday 31st October. Did you know that Europe’s largest pumpkin grower is in Spalding? So to draw attention to this often neglected but much loved (by us) corner of South Lincolnshire we have launched the Deepings Pumpkin Carving Competiton!
Room, a panel of judges have been lined up and there will be prizes for the children’s categories. Judging will take place between 12.30 and 1.30 and pumpkins can be viewed until 3.00 pm when they can be collected.
Open to all from pre-schoolers whose parents or teachers can interpret their doodles to businesses and local care homes.We have trawled the internet and can see that there is no shortage of ideas or downloadable templates - so even the least artistic of us can have a go!
Entries are 50p each and all proceeds will go to Zack Mission. Set up in honour of Alana Exton’s son to help raise awareness and funds for asthma UK . Alana says “asthma is a very underestimated condition, a lot of people really don’t understand the seriousness of it. 3 people a day loose their life due to a asthma attack ... Since starting the campaign we have raised nearly £12000 with the help and support of everyone.”
See the ad on the opposite page for details but don’t forget to label your pumpkin with name, category and contact details and deliver to the Swines Meadow Farm Nursery, top of Linchfield Road, from Thursday 29th (open 9-4) - Saturday 31st noon latest. Seasonal refreshments will be available at Deeping Fudge Tea
So this year when you carve your pumpkin and drop it in, you can also be assured that you are helping a cause at the heart of Deeping.
