BIG QUESTION How to improve continuous learning to give push for low expectation students after class?


MVP Product: students learn Chinese with the help of an APP. They could get notifications about home work, exam and other related info. They can do exercises on the APP (similar to Chineseskill) and could mark difficulties which the teacher would get informed. Riskiest Assumption: Is homework appealing?


PROTOTYPING Phase 1 brief pitching Conducted brief pitching in Wechat for group of foreign students, and noted the feedback. Generally speaking feedback ranged for mildly positive to very exicited, as few students even contacted in private message to give more feedback and recommendations for further development No negative feedback receivied, but few question areas to be solved: How does this affect on grade? Is this voluntary or mandatory part of Chinese class?


PROTOTYPING Phase 2 Wizard of Oz Invited few students to try in person, and brief and pitch more details Situation briefed: You have been yesterday in Chinese class, where you’ve studied certain topic, and then send notification to their phone, that they have homework to review. Review was done using few different Chinese learning app Again, feedback was positive and we got more feedback and ideas ”This would be great, I could actually do something productive instead of just playing games” ”Do I get credits out of playing this? It would great, would definately use it”


PROTOTYPING Phase 3 Landing Page & Video Created a landing page in Tumblr.com and uploaded a video just to see if people are willing to take a look on this kind of thing http://winchinese.tumblr.com/ Didn’t recieve any direct feedback from this, but the youtube video gained about 20 views: - Video was only accessable through tumblr page to make the view count more reliable - Info was send to group of 40 people, out of which about 10 ended to video (in youtube) Seems that this kind of solution is indeed interesting to students, and there is clear need to improve the Tongji Chinese class


Conclusion 1 The homework is validated. 2 The tasks could be more practical. 3 How can the homework influence the final grade.

Education ministry and universities coordinate together, and set the requirements for material. 4. Material provider is in charge of providing and maintaining the platform. Material Flow: 1. Material Provider provides books to University, and students buy books from school. 2. Teachers get teaching material from unviersity as well. Infomation Flow: 1. University and board of professors provides feedback to material provider. 2. Students can give feedback through ' app. 3. The app could collect users' infomation.
