01. Borderless Bridge

Shenzhen-Hong Kong Integration Conjecture Since Hong Kong returned to China in 1997, the connection and relations between Shenzhen and Hong Kong have improved. There were more and more ports set up on both sides of the borders. Hong Kong, an international metropolis, attracted countless young people to work there, but they chose to live in Shenzhen due to the great pressure of life in Hong Kong. Then a new group came out: Hong Kong Drifts, people who go to work in Hong Kong and live in Shenzhen. In recent years, with the rapid development of Shenzhen’s economy and close co-operation between the two cities. Under this background, between Futian Free Trade Zone as well as Hong Kong Lok Ma Chau, we chose Hetao area to build a residential area which can absorb resources form Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Both ends of the bridge are connected to all kinds of facilities, eg. traffic, city park, green way, creator hub, shop etc. Combined with them, we want to make a new megastructure for people travelling between the two cities.

Step1

The early construction meets the needs of the people who are drifting in the harbor, above Shenzhen River link to the Lok Ma Chau area in Hong Kong. At this time, the two places in Shenzhen and Hong Kong still need to pass the customs. The function of the bridge is just providing living conditions for the drifting people.

Step2

In the later period, the cancellation of the checkpoints between Shenzhen and Hong Kong led the function of the bridge change from simple residential area to commercial, transportation and other aspects, has become the basis for the exchanges between the Lok Ma Chau Cooperation Zone and the ShenZhen Free Trade Zone.

Articulating resources on both sides of the Shenzhen river and analyzing the available transportation options, aesthetic and multi-functional landscape, turn these into node. Through the node resources integration, data classification, the information is turned to parameter. Linear space gathers and creates new building nodes. According to the distribution of the people with different professions, different nodes are endowed with different functions to meet the needs of residents. Various nodes bring vitality to people’s life.

4.The Level of The Public Property Analysis

Each Block has different internal spatial characteristics to meet the needs of different types of customizations.

The level of the public property is divided into different parts and drawing the picture containing different colours which represent different level of the space.

A blo ck is desig ne d for t he p e ople w ho work in computer industry always busy with working. So we create an interesting way which is hard for them to go back home to give them opportunity to exercise.

This block is for the people with same interest in daily things such as cooking, chatting with each other and so on. The public space encourages them to participate in these activities.

The block is design for people who work in art industry which needs space to exhibit some works. This makes it possible for artists to show their work as they want to other people .

This block provides public space which is divided by numerous horizontal and vertical columns. People whose interest is in the areas of growing plant share the public space to grow different plants.

This block contains eight single houses. The public space has the same characteristics as the second block, but in this block the sharing space is strengthened due to the bigger public space size.

This block creates a great official environment for people to have meeting with their colleagues. Public space is divided into different sizes so that people are able to use the suitable meeting space according to their needs.

Revival of The Basin Triangle Assisted by Renewed Community Centres The "Basin Triangle" intersection is located in service and commercial centre of "The Basin Town". It not only fulfills the daily necessaties of the community, but is also supports the spiritual and cultural core of 'The Basin Township'. This project aims to continue and enrich 'The Basin Town's culture & lifestyle with a very laid-back country village atmosphere. Reconfiguring the functionality of the existing buildings, adding new facilities and optimizing the landscape was essential part of the process.Furthermore, I attempted to bridge the gap between Architecture and Environment, generating a strong response to the needs of the community and the intrinsic qualities of the place. These interventions intend to provide fully loaded service facilities which aim to promote more diversified participation of residents and stimulate the vitality of the site. In conclusion, it attempts to enhance, people's perspective on the site, ie. (cognitive feelings)- " Triangle is the heart of The Basin Township".

The intervention buildings 1- The Basin Progress hall is considered a contributory building to the character of The Basin. It is close to the new visitor entrance and parking lot, so a visitor service centre and viewing platform have been added to better provide services and assistance to tourists and locals.

Removing a portion of the roof would expose the existing timber roof truss structure. Using a steel structure in place of wood to reinforce the roof would enable people to stand on there. The roof platform provides visitors with a great place to enjoy the scenery of the basin and socialize.

03. Urban Suture

View from Chelsea Activity Center

Chelsea Train Station Redesign & Infrastructure Improvement Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach(ECB) are located approximately 30km from Melbourne CBD. The Frankston rail line crosses in the ECB centres which sits immediately alongside Port Phillip Bay. Along that ridge of the primary dune, there was a 60metre transport corridor laid out. This project chooses chelsea station as the proposed design, replacing a new rail-over train station, optimizing the existing infrastructure and the landscape. It aims to enhance the urban synergy relationship with the Edithvale and Bonbeach; strengthening Chelsea's role of commercial, cultural, and service center, in turn connecting and diversifying the future development and representing the historic background. The main concept of this project is stitching. The new train station and landscape are used as a suture(medium) to stitch the original split condition. It aims to strengthen Chelsea's role as a commercial, cultural, and service center, in turn connecting and diversifying the future development and celebrating the natural resources value. There are three strategies in this proposal: Stitching site, stitching space and stitching experience.

Elizabeth Street Shophouses 261-251 Renovation Shophouses 261-251 were built in the 19th century from Victorian and Federation eras. It represents the memories of immigrants' lives. Due to the rapid development of the city, these shophouses could not adapt to changes in people's life style and requirements, slowly becoming vacant. In this project, I attempted to retain original historical elements and spatial typology. Through functional replacement and space renovation, I might be able to activate the vacant upper spaces, to create rich spatial experience and facilitate communication. To redefine the role of context and its social value, is the ultimate goal of my heritage building design concept. Architecture is just a container of history. Only the activities and users can make us realise the contemporary significance of this container. Focusing on the issue of historical buildings, intervening in isolated or forgotten buildings by repositioning and using occupant’s activities to stimulate architecture, can preserve the vitality of the city. That is when the building is sustainable.

The original vacant second floor is transformed into a historical experience exhibition hall, which increases the connection between the unites while retaining the unique spatial characteristics, creating a rich and exploratory space. In addition to displaying the existing historical elements, it also uses VR, threedimensional interaction and other technological means to restore historical scenes, and the display experience space is also flexible. The third floor is a multifunctional space for resting, exhibitions, lecture and so on. 05. Symbiont

The Symbiosis of The Urban Boundary This design is positioned as the IT headquarters building. The base is located in the Guimiao Xincun area of Nanshan District, ShenZhen. Therefore, it is intended to apply the existing texture of Guimiao Village to the high-rise design, using the embedding of various scale boxes to reverse the corresponding angle. It is equipped with a series of auxiliary functions in addition to the office to provide users with a more comfortable office environment. In addition, the refuge floor space is used to create a semi-outdoor shared space such as a sky garden, and a sinking plaza is arranged around the podium to meet the original use needs of the villagers and achieve the purpose of integration with the original environment.

Exhibition Based on the high-level differences and echoes between the urban interface and the urban village interface, the design also uses two methods to define the division. For Guimiao Village, the box elements of various scales and orientations are used to logically follow the small-scale urban texture of the small area of Guimiao Village, while the side facing the urban road adopts the overall glass curtain wall element to meet the requirements. The image of the city should be displayed in public buildings. Different needs bring different results, and the combination of the two is not contradictory, echoing the design itself ’s thinking about the place and respect for the original life mode. However, there is no doubt that there exists some social problems, for example, the promiscuity of internal population, a large number of illegal buildings as well as the imperfect infrasructure.
