This year, “Celebrating Small Business,” will honor and recognize the diverse contributions from all of our small businesses.

I am so proud to dedicate this week in honor of the thousands of small businesses that drive our economy, create local jobs, innovate and inspire our communities. These small businesses anchor our diverse neighborhoods and shape the character of our world class city. It is their success that defines the heart and soul of our City. That’s why I continue to invest in services and programs that ensure our businesses start, stay, and grow right here in San Francisco. We’ve established a variety of services and programs to help businesses navigate the challenges and complexities of opening and operating a business in the City. Through my Invest in Neighborhoods initiative, we effectively coordinate city resources – technical assistance, access to capital, façade improvements, neighborhood improvement grants and loans - to best serve the needs of small businesses and the environments where they will thrive. We’ve recently launched the Small Business Portal, a comprehensive online hub to best guide a small business’ engagement with City agencies as they seek to start, maintain and grow their business. Since its launch, more than 16,000 users have visited businessportal.sfgov.org to learn more about how to transform a great idea into a successful business. As the Portal receives numerous accolades,
