GÈR BOOSTEN DRAWING BOOK tekeningen, ontstaan tussen 2013 en 2015

In zijn originele versie bundelde de kunstenaar de door hem geselecteerde lompenpapieren. Aan elkaar genaaid tot een boek, bracht dit hem, in die verschijningsvorm als object, reeds in euforie met betrekking tot het tekenen zelf. De oppervlaktestructuur van het papier deed zich ervaren als de huid van de wanden in de mergelgrotten, die Gèr Boosten reeds eerder onder handen had, waar de afgifte van houtskool en tekenstiften stevig tegengewerkt werd door de ruwe en rulle ondergrond. Het originele tekenboek van Gèr Boosten bevindt zich in de Fondation Custodia, Collectie Frits Lugt, Parijs. Gèr Boosten, 1947 Maastricht, leeft en werkt in Poilly lez Gien, Frankrijk.

In een labyrint van ooit meer dan 20.000 gangen neemt een professionele gids je mee ondergronds in het 80 kilometer lange grottenstelsel Noord. Unieke bezienswaardigheden zijn de enorme koepel, de eeuwenoude schuilplek van de bewoners van Sint Pieter, de donkere gotische gang en de Kluis (rijksbewaarplaats van o.a. Rembrandts ‘Nachtwacht’). Caves > Do you dare go underground? Not afraid of the dark? Go explore the caves below the St. Pietersberg hill. No light, no sound, no smell, no radiation, no pollution, no mobile phone signal, no sense of time… Through a labyrinth that once comprised more than 20,000 corridors, a professional guide takes you underground. The man-made galleries once measured 230 km in total and measure around 80 km today. Highlights of the tour are among others the enormous dome and the remains of the 18th century shelter.
