EDITOR’S NOTES One of the hardest choices we’ll ever make is letting go, it doesn’t matter if it’s a person, a job, a dream, a home. It’s always difficult, it’s painful but it’s not infinite Some of our most priced experiences happened when we were in total control of our environment, some others were complete surprises in our lives, but the ones that “got taken” from us are the ones we don’t let go until we get a “valid reason” so we can move on with our lives. Then... You say you need closure? We want answers of questions that aren’t totally connected, answers from people who no longer interfere with our new path since that event happened. When we want to focus and let go of something that made some damage, it’s understandable that we can’t really put all our mind on healing and letting go, it’s a struggle and it can take different amounts of time depending on everything you are. So, the most important thing we can have in our minds is that everything happens for a reason, we’re all trying to get everything together between our worlds, problems, body, mind, work, homes, etc. You may think there are priorities that are so important that need to be done by X date, and it may be the case in some aspects of our life like work and payments, but none of those happen without us trying our best every month. When was the last time you truly “slept like a baby” in the comfort of your home? How much baggage are you willing to bring along this 2022? Is this the perfect excuse to move your foot from the spot you’re trying to hold on to? This issue is dedicated to anyone who wanted to start anew. Your stories define who you were, not who you are today, they’re just the PRELUDE of your next story. Accept your past and embrace your present, you’ll see how bitter, salty and sweet are neither good or bad, just different flavors in life that not necessarily taste the same every time.

s one of Indonesia’s leading fashion brands, Erigo was founded in 2011, with a primary focus on streetwear and paying homage to the brand’s heritage through its first collection featuring native batik and ikat designs. The brand’s founder Muhammad Sadad grew up in the small town of Medan in Indonesia and founded a successful concert ticket sales company. The brand’s success drove the development of Erigo X as an international and accessible brand for all audiences, while maintaining its Indonesian heritage. In 2019, Erigo was awarded the fashion award by Shopee Indonesia. Although the brand’s goal is global expansion, the products are manufactured in Indonesia with the intention of generating more jobs in Indonesia.

The brand’s attention to construction was strong for sportswear, from eccentric cutouts to traditional Indonesian architectural accessories. In multiple pieces, it was possible to appreciate the Erigo X embroidery. This brand fused fashion with functionality, through modifications, details and new ideas in already known garments. With more than 30 models that showed a wide diversity, Erigo included some popular TikTokers with the intention of showing the focus of the brand “Fashion for all”. Whether an all-black look or elements of a neon color palette such as orange, lemon, turquoise blue, among others, all pieces were made from luxurious cotton and textile blends. The collection certainly created a strong footstep for Erigo X on the NYFW scene and in its future development.

51 / PRELUDE

The first runway show by Erigo X was presented at NYFW. The brand presented its Spring/Summer 2022 collection featuring distinctive construction, impeccable detailing and a lot of color from monochromatic to technicolored clothes. Each look carried its own concept; from wide leg track suits, embroidered and piping detailing and unique takes on drawstrings and even a sportswear-inspired suit for the semi-casual office.

ashion Week Spring Summer 2021 In New York bounced back with live audiences again. The requirements were that you had to be masked and vaxed to attend, so this made everything feel completely different from previous editions.

I had the time to put on my Editor-at-Large shoes and exclusively cover a few collections for One·Four·One Magazine. There were over 150 shows and events produced by IMG and smaller production companies, the events were very muted and, in same case, under attended… however, we are still in the midst of a pandemic and many guest are still wary of attending live events. We are glad to see that fashion is dipping its toe back in safely and we look forward to share with you a little of what’s to come this Spring-Summer 2022 season. Here are some highlights of some key shows that we covered. Don’t forget to follow your favorite brands to discover their creations up and close from a different angle and, as covering crew, we’ll always appreciate the follow on Instagram.

GS: First of all, I need you to tell me what you’re currently working on, because I just heard a little bit about some secret projects you have there with Mykel. He told me you’re interested on working for both the English and Spanish or Hispanic audience? JT: Yeah, so the way that kind actually came to this, it’s really funny. My older brother. He goes by the name of Don Chino. That’s his artist name. Now he’s actually featured on the album. About three years ago, I’m sitting in the studio, right? And you have to know, we were in the studio day and night. Just nonstop! And so, I remember one day my older brother came in and he went like “Brother, you speak Spanish, you know how to

speak it, sing in Spanish and you’re going to see the impact. You’re gonna start, you’re gonna see when you really dive into your roots, into your heritage. You’ll see what beautiful blessings are going to come”. I remember that right after he said that, I started writing in Spanish. I was like, “oh this feels right, really good”. So, yeah, I want people to understand that I’m Puerto Rican, I’m from New York but I was almost born on a plane from Puerto Rico, but that’s real life, you know. I wanna make sure that I’m representing both sides, my Puerto Rican heritage runs very deep and you know I send so much love to Puerto Rico; I appreciate you all like crazy.

GS: OK, that’s good. Because many people are trying to see what really hits through record deals, streaming platforms, on playlists and all that. You’re just starting with this journey, right? JT: Yes! GS: It’s not been long since you’re on in this plan. Something that Mykel told me in secrecy that there’s something really big going on around what you’re gonna do. It’s a huge promise, you have really good bases on how they’re going to do everything and they want to make you go big. How do you feel about all this? Because there are tons of musicians trying to get like that kind of hit.

Jeremy Torres, 2022

JT: Yeah! I came from nothing, my family worked very hard to get even the small things that people would see very small and so. Right now I’m surrounded by incredible people that just genuinely understand the vision on what needs to be done, and I always feel very blessed and I find it a privilege to be around these people. There’s just so many incredible souls, so many people that are just really guiding this thing, and I feel very blessed that I’m able to a say that there’s many artists that don’t get that and it’s very unfortunate, because if there’s one thing that I’ve always wanted growing up, as a teenager wanting to be a freaking Rockstar. I’m like “I just need a good team around me” and everything is history. That’s sort of how it’s been. If I didn’t have my brother (his name is Emmanuel, he goes by E visual), a phenomenal cinematographer and videographer... However you want to look at it, this guy is a visual genius and so, he was with me since the very

beginning when I first said “y’all, I want to be a rock star”. He decided he wanted to be a film star. So it’s crazy. I know I’m probably going a little off topic, I just get really excited. I love talking about music. GS: That’s amazing. I think that’s where anyone can see how in love you are with your passions. Noe, what can people expect from your music like your first album and everything that you’re working on? JT: Go in with a very open mind, an open heart and place yourself inside each song. Walk through it as if it’s a movie because that’s how it was written. It was written like a film and I’m a very big fan of scores. I love listening to movie scores, I love it. I’ll be driving you from point A to point B. GS: That’s rich! I mean, it may all depend on the day and the mood right? I’m also very a huge score fan. So yeah! I know the feeling! JT: You know the feeling when somebody gets in your car and you have one of those songs...

GS: Yeah! They are like “What are you listening to right now?” So tell me, when are you launching everything? JT: So my album “Tiempos como estos” has already been released. Oh, my gosh... I mean the response has been so phenomenal and I’m the type of person where the music is written from a very REAL part of my heart. So, when I get dm’s... I get so many dm’s on the daily of people writting me stuff like “Hey man, this song really touched me in a really special way”. And others where like “I can’t stop pumping this one”. It’s like watching the reaction in real time and you got to than social media for that a little bit, you know? I feel like now there’s an amazing opportunity where the fans could get consistent with the artists, that they can know everything at this point beacuse of the mere artist. So yeah, it’s crazy stuff. The album is only 28 minutes. We wanted to keep it nice, short and sweet for the first one. Very pure. A little bit more story based.

when somebody discovers JT in the future, they’re going to really know me throw it. I might have a Marvel character made after novel. GS: Why not? This would be funny. Sorry, how old are you? JT: I’m 27. GS: Wow! I think it’s good that you are beginning this journey at this age because this project wouldn’t have the life and feeling you’re giving them without being humble, all because of the different life experiences you’ve had over your young adulthood. JT: Yeah! If there’s anything that I could ever tell anybody out there is that I’m from a small city where these things don’t happen. This type of thing is weird. There’s a lot of time, a lot of writing and playing involved. I got my start playing in small bars, I was literally this 15 year old kid with my band, just a Puerto Rican kid that’s walking into this bar in a very small town, we would walk in and we would own it, and from that point on, I always told myself “this is what I’m gonna do”. I pray that future JT looks back at that JT and says, “Thank God you never give up, thank God you didn’t stop”. I love music so much that the process became a way of life for me, so I’m just so very grateful. I feel very blessed that I have music for me in this life.

GS: Why did you want to do it like that? It was done thinking of it in a cinematographic. Did you make it like thinking of doing that with your brother into videos? JT: To be honest with you, this whole album is spanning from a 15 year old JT, all the way to maybe two years ago. There’s a song named “father”. I wrote that when I was 15. When I was making this album, I was like “Man, let me go into one of my journals from back in the day from when you were growing up”, looked at what I wrote and I remember thinking to myself “All this is really deep”. So I took it, kind of revamped it a little bit, and it ended up being released just one month ago. It’s crazy to think that a 15 year old JT wrote that song, it’s pretty nuts man! There was actually intention because I’m all about intention and, even in lifem you always want to make sure that everything you do is what you REALLY want. If you’re giving it to the world, there’s no going back. There’s no going back once you’ve given it to them. That’s out there, so you have to make sure that it’s refined, that it’s done with intention. Like you said, such a beautiful word... To be raw, I think this album, in regards to the writing and the music, it was done with a lot of intention... but putting it together, it was something that was just created in so many different phases of my life.. This is almost like the origin story,

GS: That’s specifically the reason I wanted to talk with you because I know and understand that the energy of a really good artist comes from personal struggles and the way the artist also accepts the different experiences in life. You’re living through all this and also enjoying the path of the artist. All those experiences grant you that humbleness that gets you to really shine through your work and your music and all your creations. I want to congratulate you on that because it’s hard to meet an artist like you. So, thank you very much for that. JT: Absolutely. I keep telling you, I just feel blessed that I’m able to sit down and just talk about something that means a lot to me with somebody that totally is on the same page. I think that’s a very beautiful thing and I thank you for that.

GS: Thank you. Tell me is there anything else you want to add because I know that there’s a lot of things that we cannot talk about yet. Or is there something you want to say to people that really don’t know who you are? You touch them with your music, but is there any kind of message would like to share with them? JT: Absolutely, absolutely. If there’s anything that I can share with them is this: don’t ever allow your circumstance to dictate the way you’re going to live your life, don’t allow that to dictate what you’re gonna do and don’t let it infiltrate those dreams and the things that you want because there’s a reason why you want them. Please, listen to it, listen to that voice inside of your heart telling you that you know ‘cause it’s okay. There’s a song in my album, it starts with “I grew up inside a

Spanish household that was crazy. Mama gone at 11. Pray for her to stay. Things didn’t work out. Do they ever work out? Yeah. Little sister, don’t you cry, everything will be alright. Everything could count on rollercoaster ride” so don’t ever give up. Just keep moving forward, no matter what the circumstances, no matter what life is going to, just keep moving forward. That’s one message I can share with them. GS: Wow! Thank you, that’s really deep and something that almost everyone thinks for private. The thing that I like with these interviews is that we can be raw with people that are reading this, your interview. So, thank you very much for your time and your words. JT: Thank you man, it’s been great talking with you.
