CJHA Report
BY DANIEL SCHUEPBACH President of the Canadian Junior Hereford Association
Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed a great holiday season with family and friends.
In 2023 we are welcoming a new group of delegates, executive and directors at large onto the CJHA board. We are all very excited to organize upcoming CJHA projects and represent fellow juniors. I encourage all CJHA members to contact your provincial delegates with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like brought up at our national council meetings. I would like to extend a huge thank you to our outgoing delegates for all their hard work on the board, your work did not go unnoticed. I would also like to thank all the adult advisors, Libby Laycraft and CHA staff for facilitating our events and activities. Most importantly thank you to all our sponsors for your continuous support in growing the next generation of leaders in agriculture and the Hereford breed. Juniors can develop their own herds by accessing high quality genetics from proven herds through the Semen Donation and Heifer Lottery projects. We also offer the opportunity for juniors to showcase their herds on a national level competing against some of the best cattle in the industry at Bonanza. There is also the opportunity to practice public speaking, art, photography, judging and showmanship all skills that further develop juniors as strong leaders and producers. Most importantly we give all juniors the opportunity to connect with each other from across Canada while sharing the same love and passion for the Hereford breed. These are friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. So, juniors, keep your eyes and ears peeled for these great opportunities! The CJHA calendar will hit mailboxes at the beginning of the new year. We would like to acknowledge the Canadian Hereford breeders that advertise their operations and sales in the calendar. Be sure to explore the 2023 calendar for breeders offering top quality genetic opportunities, including sales and operations that are eligible for the CJHA Heifer Lottery.
