Here we are again-end of a year and a new year begins. Here are some highlights of last year and a look forward to 2023.

AGM held in early September with two new members elected as Directors: Kym Jim and Shannon Moebis. It is great to have the increased geographic representation. Thanks to Kym for letting his name stand for Vice President for 2023. Planning 3 MOE shows is happening around the province: the Interior Provincial Exhibition in Armstrong, the West Coast Show in the Lower Mainland and one for Hwy. 16 Providing awards for 4H members & Juniors around the province continues to be an objective. Thanks to the CHA for their monetary assistance which we matched in order to do this. We gave out a dozen awards last year and hope to continue this year. Yearly events are returning. Our BC Cattlemen’s AGM, one of the largest gatherings of cattle producers in BC, will be held In Vernon in May 2527. The BCHA will be there.

New logo for BC Hereford to go along with the CHA Better your Beef. New advertising signs will be coming to our major auction marts. Each of our clubs in BC are excited to be getting back to normal with events and activities. The clubs have struggled the past few years but are actively working to recruit members and planning events to bring back the comraderie of past years. West Coast Hereford Club held their first in person meeting since 2019 in November. It was very well attended with over twenty-four people in attendance in Aldergrove. A new executive was elected and discussions were held on events for the club. They will be having an MOE show on September 16. Yellowhead Hereford Breeders’ Assn. are looking forward to holding their first in person meeting in over two years on January 21 in Vanderhoof

An Association is only as good as the input from its members. Keep in touch with our Directors and Clubs. Please Be Active. Remember-we all received genetic, breed and EPD reports on our herds. Use them to help make choices for your cattle going forward. Let’s Better Your Beef.
