Becky’s Movie Previews The year seems to be flying by so here’s what will be gracing the cinema screens this month.

Mulligan) attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor. This timeless story of Bathsheba's choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love - as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance. There is no shortage of people who can’t get enough of stories told in Victorian England so no doubt this will draw a crowd.
Far From The Madding Crowd
one loves a good period drama/ love story and here’s a pretty good one from the literary great Thomas Hardy. This is in fact the fourth adaptation of the novel with this one starring a great British cast which includes Carey Mulligan (The Great Gatsby, Pride and Prejudice), Tom Sturridge (The Boat that Rocked, Vanity Fair) and Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon, The Queen). In Victorian England, the independent and headstrong farm Release date: 1st May 2015 owner Bathsheba Everdene (Carey
Unfriended
Now is a film for those who like a good scare. This film draws from the fact that the current generation is an online generation that live their lives on social media. There are of course other films and television shows that include this like the show Catfish which is all about who a person really is on the end of a chat room conversation. Unfriended combines the online presence with paranormal activity and is told entirely from a young girl’s computer desktop which takes the concept of ‘found footage’ to the next level. While video chatting one night, six high school friends receive a Skype message from a classmate who

killed herself exactly one year ago. At first they think it's a prank, but when the girl starts revealing the friends' darkest secrets, they realize they are dealing with something out of this world, something that wants them dead. With the popularity of the Paranormal Activity series there won’t be a lack of people lined up waiting to see this one.

The Age of Adaline A love story for all ages now but there’s a bit of a twist to this tale. We follow the life of Adaline Bowman, born at the turn of the 20th century is rendered ageless after suffering an accident when she is 29 years old. She spends the next 8 decades young and beautiful, living a solitary life and not letting anyone get too close as to discover her secret. But a chance encounter with a charismatic philanthropist reignites her passion for life and romance. But all that may come to an end when a weekend with his parents may reveal the secret that
she’s kept buried for over 80 years. This film has a great cast that includes Blake Lively (Gossip Girl, Green Lantern) as Adaline and Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones). This won’t disappoint anyone who can’t get enough with a good love story. Release date: 8th May 2015
Pitch Perfect 2 After the success of the 2012 hit, the Bella’s are back. There’s an endless audience for the musical and this one is no different as it has acapella and comedy to boot. The original cast is back including Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson. The Bella's are back, and they are better than ever. After being humiliated in front of none other than the President of the United States of America, the Bella's are taken out of the Aca-Circuit. In order to clear their name, and regain their status, the Bella's take on a seemingly impossible task: winning an International competition no American team has ever won. In order to accomplish this monumental task, they need to strengthen the bonds of

friendship and sisterhood, and blow away the competition with their amazing aca-magic! With all new friends and old rivals tagging along for the trip, the Bella's can hopefully accomplish their dreams. I can’t see this having any problems drawing in the audiences as it already has a big following in the US and here as well. Release date: 15th May 2015

Castle Street Medical Centre PPG… At our PPG meeting on Monday 13th April we were able to congratulate the practice for achieving their goal of having 3,000 patients on the books. The actual number was 3010 and is set to rise even more. We believe that this is down to the HARD WORK and DEDICATION of the DOCTORS and STAFF, plus a little bit of help from the PPG. Being the smallest practice in the Hardwick Group means that we don't get the same funding as the larger practices which can make life a bit harder. Having said that, we do offer a wide variety of services as you will see on our website. The one advantage that we have over the larger practices is the ability to usually be able offer an appointment on the day requested. Accordingly, we do not suffer as many DNA's,( do not attend ) as the larger practices. DNA's are a waste of TIME & MONEY as well as preventing other patients from SEEKING TREATMENT. All CCGs are trying to find ways of preventing DNA's and in some cases
are asking the public to help with ideas on what they would wish to see done to those who DNA. It is said that one possible reason for the large increase in attendances at A&E over the winter could be the patients who were unable to get an appointment with their GP. Did these patients have to attend A&E because appointment slots were full and then some people DNA'd? On other news, we will be having an 'in house' Pharmacist Mr Ian Jackson, starting shortly. He will be on duty on alternative Fridays to carry out medication reviews with patients. Having Mr Jackson on site will relieve one doctor of that duty and therefor increase our appointment capacity. We wish to welcome Dr Catherine Oakley to the practice who by now should have begun seeing patients. Dr Oakley is another prospective GP undergoing training with Dr Kar and who knows she may one day join the other GPs trained by Dr Kar at our surgery.

LEO July 24th August 23rd The Full Moon on the 4th forces you to take care of some domestic problems. You can't afford to spend all of your time at work any longer. Be honest in assessing the changing needs of a child or parent. Your boss will have high praise for you during the first half of the month. Your willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty will result in a raise or promotion. If you're unemployed, take this opportunity to apply for work. Go for positions that will put you in the spotlight, like public relations. The New Moon on the 18th will find you assuming a different role than you have played in the past. You'll enjoy implementing efficient systems and organising a chaotic situation. Use the second half of May to work towards a cherished dream. Friends with good connections can help you reach this goal. Don't hesitate to ask for their help. VIRGO August 24th September 23rd
your grasp, so long as you are willing to play second banana to a seasoned expert. You will hear more about this position on the 18th, when the New Moon prompts you to have talks with an authority figure. If you aren't able to get the salary you want, negotiate for more annual leave or reduced hours. Find a way to make this job work for both you and your employer. It will be necessary to get additional training as May turns to June. At times, you will feel as if you'll never master a skill. Give yourself permission to make mistakes at first. Don't worry; your diligence will eventually pay off. SCORPIO October 24th - November 22nd The Full Moon on the 4th forces you to do battle with a relative. You need to set stronger personal boundaries with a family member who keeps invading your privacy. Your personal pull is at an all time high on the 6th. Take this opportunity to ask for a favour, apply for a grant, or go on a first date. The New Moon on the 18th finds you celebrating an engagement, wedding, or commitment ceremony. Alternatively, you might become business partners with a powerful executive. The road to romance will be rocky in late May. Arguments over money, intimacy and obligations will threaten your domestic tranquillity. Don't resort to personal insults when you're fighting, or the damage will be permanent. If you're single, it will be impossible to find a person who shares your interests. Be content with going solo. You can't afford to lower your standards when it comes to love.
The first days of May find you over obsessing over your career. Don't neglect your family during this busy time, or you'll drive a wedge between you and a relative. The Full Moon on the 4th finds you pressed for time. It will be hard to finish all of your errands on time. This may result in a fine for a late payment. Keep a careful eye on the time as you go about your tasks. You'll be in great demand at work as mid-month approaches. Juggling your personal and professional lives will be a continued source of strain. The New Moon on the 18th is ideal for scheduling an overseas trip. CAPRICORN December 22nd - January 20th May finds you in a rather gloomy mood, possibly because you feel isolated and alienated. Reaching out to friends will relieve this depression. The Full Moon on the 4th prompts you to leave an organisation that no longer reflects your values. Fortunately, your love life will shimmer with excitement on the 5th, when someone confesses a crush on you. Do you already have a partner? Take this opportunity to show your devotion with a beautiful gift. A holiday package to a country known for its natural beauty will be a high spot of your year. The New Moon on the 18th is ideal for launching a creative endeavour. Give yourself permission to experiment with paint, fabric, wood, or any other material of your choosing. Jealousy could rear its ugly head at the end of May, when a rival tries to steal your amour away. This is a potent reminder to keep the passion alive at all costs.
Don't waste your time trying to change your employer's mind at the beginning of May. They won't be willing to accommodate technological innovations. The Full Moon on the 4th forces you to cancel a trip or settle a lawsuit. Try not to dwell on your disappointment. There are better days ahead. For instance, the 16th will prove wonderfully romantic, when your amour gives you a beautiful token of their appreciation. The New Moon on the 18th will be equally gratifying, thanks to good news about a class or writing project. You'll feel pressured to spend a lot of money on home improvements during the second half of May. Go ahead and do some emergency repairs. Postpone a redecoration project for later in the year, when you'll have more funds. Seemingly inexpensive purchases will add up to a tremendous amount. Sit down and make a list of your priorities. Plumbing and electricity should trump new sheets and towels.
AQUARIUS January 21st - February 19th The Full Moon on the 4th brings about an aggravating situation at work. You're tired of being passed over for a flashier colleague. The only way to put this trend to an end is having a talk with your boss. If you're self employed, there will be difficulty with an employee who continually defies authority. You've got to issue an ultimatum and be willing to follow it through. Money for a household purchase becomes available on the 6th, thanks to a powerful benefactor. The New Moon on the 18th is ideal for buying a home, signing a lease, or expanding your current abode. You'll resent a loved one's attempts to make you settle down on the 25th. The two of you need to have an honest discussion about the future. Don't mince words. Confusion over finances at the end of May forces you to

British Red Cross… On 1 December 2014, the British Red Cross started a new Home from Hospital service in North Derbyshire. We received 10 requests to assist people when they left hospital in the first week of December and now we have around 50 requests per week. We are really proud of the service in North Derbyshire and may be able to help you or a family member when you leave hospital. Home from Hospital offers short term support for people in the first few weeks when leaving hospital. We smooth the process of you settling back into a normal routine and help you to regain confidence and independence, which can prevent unnecessary hospital admissions. Our friendly staff and volunteers can check that you are safe and well, offer emotional support and companionship. We also help with practical tasks like: ● Food shopping ● Collecting prescriptions ● Escorting on a short walk ● Signposting and information
So who can access the service? Home from Hospital is a free service for older people who are: ● Medically fit to leave hospital ● Have low-level social needs ● Discharged from any hospital ● Residents of North Derbyshire If you would like support at home when leaving hospital please let a healthcare professional know at your hospital or doctors surgery as they can make referrals to us. Alternatively you can refer yourself by calling Home from Hospital on our Bolsover Hospital number, 01246 562 139, or our Walton Hospital number, 01246 515 525. We will arrange a time to visit you at home that is convenient for you between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
The British Red Cross Home from Hospital service is provided by working in partnership with hospital and community teams. Together we are able to support you to remain confident and independent in your own home. Our staff and volunteers undergo personal interviews, enhanced police checks and relevant training. They are all committed to the principles of the British Red Cross. All our volunteers are local to North Derbyshire so if you are reading this and thinking you would like to get involved, please get in touch with us.

Perez Races Strongly… Seb Perez showed strong pace and fighting spirit in rounds three and four of the KICK Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship at Donington Park over the weekend (18/19 April). The Chesterfield-based teenager was racing at his home track for the first time in a fiercely competitive 25-car field for the Ginetta Junior Championship, which is contested by 14 to 17 year-old racers. Although his final race results did not reflect his true pace, Seb was pleased with progress and was able to show the potential to move into the top 10 in the championship. “Qualifying was good, but there was a red flag four minutes from the end of the session,” said Seb. “We had been P15 and we had an amazing lap coming together when someone cut me up. That’s bound to happen at some stage in these cars.”
Bolsover 1st
His best lap left him 18th on the grid, but only nine-tenths of a second away from the pole position time. Race one on Saturday afternoon started well. “I made a couple of places into the first corner to get up to P15,” said Seb. “Going into the second lap someone pushed me off onto the grass and I ended up spinning. That put me at the back, 20 seconds behind the leaders but I got my head down and got into a rhythm and made up a couple of places.” More important than the final race position of 15th was the fact that Seb set the 11th best race lap. Race two ran in front of live TV cameras on Sunday and was full of action from the very start. “We were going really well in the early laps and managed to get up to 12th,” said Seb.” I was just about to overtake another car and went into the chicane just a little bit too quick and

caught the kerb on the inside. “I saved the first part of it, but then it went the other way and got onto the grass and spun. Everyone went flying past and then I just tried to catch as many people as I could. But the races are very short, so it’s very hard to come back from something like that.” His final result of 20th place did not truly reflect his speed. “Overall the pace has been good and we’re really pleased with progress this weekend. I’m ready for Thruxton now and we’ve done a couple of tests there. There are two places you absolutely need to nail and then the rest of it is just flat out!”
