HELLOOO…… to out and our usual Wednesday evening rides have suffered only twice and similarly our Sunday rides have gone ahead regardless with a few showers encountered along the way! Both rides are attracting more and more interest and we have gained some fantastic new members over the last few months.

Well can I just state for the record what a complete wash out August is turning out to be! Very disappointing that usually one of the best riding months is so damp and depressing! On a far more positive note we have not allowed the weather

Our AGM is also coming up in November. That also means that you will get a chance to stand for an officer position. All officer posts are voluntary, non paid, often ignored, time consuming roles so if you would like to be considered for any of them please get in touch. I would just like to say how much me and my Biatch, Steve, are enjoying being part of the chapter. We’ve been made to feel really welcome and have done 2,200 miles since joining at the beginning of June this year! Looking forward to lots more adventures with you all and
can’t wait for the trip to Norfolk ...... let the fun begin x Oh and here’s a pic of my long suffering biatch who’s sick of being dragged out on the ride outs on his Triumph. The group has had an influence though he’s coming around to the idea of getting a Harley!

LADY Of HARLEY……
Hi, This time last year, I never thought I would ever ride or write again as Ladies of Harley Officer. After an extremely painful TKR op, 9 weeks later, I had to have 16 a second operation, an MUA . There was only one thought that ever kept me going through those agonising days-yes, you guessed, the thought of riding my beloved Softail Deluxe again. Well that thought certainly worked and this year has seen my confidence regained, enjoying and loving every
minute of escapism and freedom spent on the bike, meeting and riding with old and new Members, Road Captains and Officers of our newly renamed chapter ‘Chrome Hill’. What a great season we are having riding to various destinations, enriching our riding skills, enjoying the scenic views on route with great camaraderie. We have loved our Chapter weekends away; regular social evenings and we still have more to follow before we get to the sparkle time of year. On that ‘Sparkle’ note, some ‘Ladies of Harley’ are participating in ‘The Sparkle Tour’, one of which is the Midlands Sparkle 2019 Tour which visits HarleyWorld, Chesterfield on their first day around midday on Friday 13th Sept, Manchester dealership
14th Sept around 11am and Chester Dealership also Sat 14th Sept around 1pm. One of our own ‘Ladies of Harley’, Sandy Greenham is participating in this tour and it would be great if anyone is around at the above locations at these approx. times to wave, encourage and wish the ladies well on their travels. This is always a great boost to feel supported. Well done already Ladies for your commitment. May I thank you all for all your good wishes throughout my year’s recovery, being riding companions and friends. I look forward to seeing you all soon at our future riding /social get togethers, Living the dream,

Canada Trip
touring needs to be done over a longer period. So much to see and do. Travelling as a Chapter would be amazing!
So, Dennis reached an age milestone recently and by way of marking that we organised a trip to Vancouver. We had 2 weeks there with 1 week entirely occupied by an RV Road trip through the Rockies and Jasper National Park. That’s another story that needs documenting. For now, Wow!. Time was therefore limited once we got back to Vancouver, but we did manage to fit in a 24-hour rental of HD’s from Eagle Rider over 2 days. This part of the trip was always on the cards, but we had hoped for more time in the saddle. Dennis hired an Ultra; I tried out the new Softail Fat Boy. We left Vancouver and took the famous ‘Sea to Sky’ highway, which is awesome. Huge sweeping roads with the most amazing scenic views, as the name suggests. Aquamarine seas in The Howe Bay, snow topped mountains, waterfalls, crystal clear rapids running parallel to the road, mile after mile this continues. A jaw dropping experience on each corner. As for the bikes, wow, I loved the look, the lighter weight of the 2018 Fat Boy, the power, easy control and ease of manoeuvring, u turns included. Eagle Rider in Vancouver were brilliant and extremely helpful. We rode up to Pemberton, back down to Whistler Village for the overnight stay, then had a superb ride back down ‘Sea to Sky’. This was just as scenic as you get different views on the return leg, where all the viewing stops are better placed. Riding up you can’t access them as easily. CHROME HILL DO WALES Many months in the planning and our first official Tour as Chrome Hill! Huge thanks to our Activities Officer Viv for sourcing a lovely central hotel, to our intrepid Road Captains for taking the lead and sweep Tony, Rich, Dennis, Jean, Bryan and Simon and getting us there and back safely, to Bryan and Dennis for taking a few days out to reccy the evening and daytime ride outs (Huge effort…. Not to mention fun!!) And to our intrepid photographer Manoj who after taking so many photos lost his phone…. Always a drama…… the great news being the phone was eventually found and here are the pics we almost lost! Additional pics by 18 myself, Tracey, Kendra & Adam. Overall what an amazing weekend - new friends made, old friends reaffirmed, fabulous roads ridden, beautiful views taken in, a fabulous feeling of friendship and camaraderie developing, copious amounts of alcohol consumed securing the coveted title of ‘Chromie Drunkard’ to the lovely and hilarious Tracey and so many laughs and very much fun had for the whole weekend. My huge thanks to everyone who attended and made the weekend so very much fun and so successful - here’s to our Norfolk weekend in September I think on the back of Wales bound to be another epically fun party weekend - if you haven’t already booked get onto Viv asap as I think we have just a couple of rooms still available. ‘CHROME HILL DO FRANCE’ Early 2018 Rich and I were thinking of planning a tour to the South of France and mentioned it to some of our Chrome Hill members, always fun to do something challenging with like minded friends. Bryan and Manoj were both keen to join us and we set about arranging dates, booking hotels and the Euro Tunnel. Bryan particularly wanted to visit the Verdon Gorge, which looked amazing, so we planned a route to get down there staying in lovely hotels each night (essential for me!), we traversed Route Napolean en route to a three day stay in the Verdon to sample the beautiful roads (hairpins galore) and scenery then back up briefly into Spain over the Pyrenees (more hairpins) to Seringnac to stay at the lovely Le Vieux Chene for five nights; followed by a stop on the Seine (gorgeous but Manoj had a puncture!), a night at Motobreaks (great biker people), then our final night at the 34 Kyriad before boarding the Eurotunnel for home. Eighteen days, eleven hotels and 3,500 miles, travelling to the Cote d’azur, spending three glorious days in the Verdon Gorge, over the Pyrenees (stunning!) to the Midi-Pyrenees, heading back north west to Mark and Merryn’s for our five night stay - hot up to 44 degrees, swimming in the pool at midnight and where we visited the garlic festival in Beaumont de Lomagne, the Cat villiage - La Romieu (a great story google it!) Lots of fabulous sunflowers, and an evening food festival in Solomiac where we appeared on the front page of the local newspaper the following week. Can’t tell you how much we enjoyed ourselves (well I did!), We got to know each other (Manoj has timekeeping issues, drinks like a fish and Bryan likes to leave on time , lol. I’m crap in the heat, drink too much and Rich is sick of his sat nav!) and had so many fun times, great food, fab photo opportunities, stunning scenery and did I mention 100’s of hairpins!
