If you love entertaining, then you will need adequate space indoors and outside. If your present kitchen isn’t your dream kitchen, start replacing appliances that are older with energy efficient ones; install pull-out shelves on lower cabinets; replace an overhead microwave with a drawer or countertop microwave. Wall ovens are a great option if you have the space to accommodate one.
Is family your focus? You might need a home with an extra bedroom or a play area for grandchildren’s visits. If two or more generations are going to live together, accommodations may need to be made for separate living areas for yourself and the other family members.
If you are still working, consider making an office out of that spare bedroom that is seldom used. This spare room could also be used for hobbies.
