Raquel Allegra fashion designer series
12 2beMag
www.2bemag.com www.2bemag.com
This young fashion designer born in Berkeley, California, has reached a total success among L.A celebrities, stylists, fashion retailers, editors and worldwide fashionistas thank to her deconstructed t-shirts. Child of artisan parents, she got the creative and experimental ability back in her childhood. She first started working as a sales associate for Barney’s New York and, being inspired by all the environment that surrounded her, she went for new levels of creativity and started her t-shirts collection. By creating a personal shredding technique Allegra has given elegance and style to the basic and plain t-shirt. Her technique is based in recycling, “I’ve always believed in recycling”, she says. She recovers the used t-shirts that are going to be thrown away from the Los Angeles County Prison System and by
cutting and shredding them she creates completely different pieces full of sensibility and sense of style. Another thing that makes her t-shirts especial is that they are all unique pieces, there are not two that look the same, they are handmade and she takes about 10 hours to create each piece. And do not only think of shirts, she can even create a dress out of a prisoner’s shirt! The result: always ethereal, informal and stylish pieces. After a few seasons of production, in 2009 Allegra made a step forward by including in her collection richly textured pieces in deerskin, linen, cashmere and French lace. more info www.raquelallegra.com

A day in the life
ABOUT My name is Max Adam, I am 25 years old and I was born and raised in Germany. Here and now I could tell you about how I made it to here, what did I do in order to have a section in this magazine, but what I think is much more important and interesting, is letting you know what you will find here in the upcoming issues. Right now I am the Community Manager of Fashionfreax – Your Fashion Community and I work as a consultant for Empora – The Fashion Search Engine. I am running the Spanish Fashionfreax Blog and this is why you are reading this right now. During the next months you will be able to find information about events I have attended, places I have been, products I like, I will present to you professionals that need a special courtesy, I will show you pictures I have taken on my path and let you know what made me capture this, etc.
16 2beMag
This section will be a mixture of what I like and do, of what exercising a position as Community Manager is like and of what my inspirations and motivations in life are.

World Fashion News SWEDISH BLOGGER ELIN KLING DESIGNS A COLLECTION FOR H&M Swedish fashion chain, H&M, is launching the first collection designed by a blogger, Elin Kling who launched her blog in 2007 and since then has one of the biggest fashion profiles in her country and is considered as Sweden’s leading fashionista. The collection features nine fashion pieces and two accessories, and will only be sold in 10 swedish selected stores. It will be launched February 3rd and the 10% of the profit will be donated to UNICEF. The collection reflects the blogger’s personal style which is modern, light and minimalist but combined with some bohemian influences. Hard and sculptural structures are mixed with softness, draped textiles and femininity. The designer gives bigger importance to materials and silhouette than to decoration. A really contemporary collection which will bring freshness to H&M.
RACHEL ZOE LAUNCHES HER FIRST COLLECTION The most popular fashion stylist, known for dressing up many celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton and Lindsay Lohan among many others, is launching this summer her first collection. The line is supposed to be sold in poshy boutiques and big department stores. It is know that the collection will be including accessories, shoes and apparel, and, as she said to Hollyscoop, it is in some way inspired in her clients as a stylist. “I think it’s just a general state of mind. When I’m thinking: ‘Oh Kate would love this, Cameron would love this, this sweater this scarf is so Kate Hudson’ of course I do.”

World Fashion News Norway: the first ever country to ban fur in its fashion week
Norway is making history in the fashion and nature fields by being the first country to ban fur at its most important fashion event, the Oslo Fashion Week. The responsible of this prohibition has been the group Mote Mot Pels (Fashion against furs), under the cause “Save the critters!”, which has find the support of fashion giants like Norwegian Elle or Cosmopolitan and fashion designers such as Thomas Ryen, and has finally got the victory.
Natalie portman as miss dior cherie Even though we will still have to wait until March to see the new TV Dior commercial for its Miss Dior Chérie perfume, directed by genius and talented film maker Sofía Coppola and characterized by the actress Natalie Portman, here we are already able to see the first images for printed publicity, executed by photographer Tim Walker. Natalie Portman appears in a really sweet and sensual look, half naked but really pure and fresh, just as the perfume’s odor is.

miranda kerr: new top mommy After 9 months of pregnancy, super model Miranda Kerr, one of the Victoria Sectret’s angels, finally gave birth to a baby boy last week. She and the dad, actor Orlando Bloom, are happy to be finally a threesome family.
DESIGNER CHRISTIAN LACROIX WILL BE DESIGNING FOR DESIGUAL After his sad farewell from Paris fashion week in 2009 due to his brand’s ruin, it has been many times speculated a possible return to fashion for the designer. But it hasn’t been until now that this dream has become true, and this is been possible thanks to the Spanish streetwear brand Desigual, a pretty shocking new thinking that Lacroix was specialized in Haute Couture, which has nothing to do with the casual collection mostly made of jeans and cotton shirts that the Spanish brand does. The collection, which has been named “Dream”, was presented in Barcelona the past January the 17th and it is compounded by 30 pieces for all men, women and kids. But Lacroix fans will have to be patient and wait until the autumn-winter 2012 season to get its pieces. Can’t wait to see it close up!

Emerging Raw Talents
“This year, with the spring summer 2011 collection, the celebrated fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has declared that Haider Ackermann’s collection has been a magazine”. Born in Colombia but adopted by a French couple who worked for International Amnesty, spent all of his childhood living here and there between Africa and Europe, until he decided to get into the Antwerp’s Royal academy in Belgium, a prestigious design school that has formed consolidated talents such as Dries Van Notten and Ann Demeulemeester. He first started working as a designer in Milan for Milan’s Ruffo research, but finally in 2001 decided to create his own collection and present it in the Paris fashion week. Why Paris? We do not know, maybe because it was his home, but of what we are definitely sure is that no matter where he had done it he would have succeeded. Since then, he has gotten really good critics but it has been this two latest years when he has finally become one of the most regarded shows in Paris thank to actress Tilda Swinton who has worn his designs in the latest red carpets. This year, with the spring-summer 2011 collection, the celebrated fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has declared that Haider Ackermann’s collection has been his favorite and he has even photographed his fashion pieces for a magazine. It is sure that from now on, Haider Ackermann’s collections are going to be among the most wanted by all publics.

Mortal Engine by Chunky Move When the body loses its limits. The use of new technologies in art production is a consolidated reality nowadays. Cinema, videoart, netart etc, they all use technology as a way of expression. But what happens when those technologies become the main character of the artpiece? Chunky Move is an Australian dance company founded in 1995 by artistic director Gideon Obarzanek. Since then, they have opened an amount of 25 shows around the world and have gained a great recognition because of its unpredictable and risky style. Its proposals show a perfect fusion between body and technology, the dancers moves while dancing become a dialogue, and they use resources such as lighting, beams of light and projections that go beyond any expectative. The majority of the company’s proposals have as an objective to explore human’s behavior in view of their desires, conflicts and emotions. The lights and sounds build this way of confronting the world that is not always rational. Nowadays, some of its shows such as Glow, Connected or I like this, are being performed in really important cities like New York, Monaco or Melbourne. Now, we present you a video where is performed one of their most successful shows, Mortal Engine. A performance which combines dance, music, video and light beams and in which movement and sound together generate projections that distort the dancer’s body’s limits. The choreography responds to the beings moves without a specific form that try to connect and wrap themselves over and over again. It is an almost magic representation about the human’s figure’s metamorphosis. by Lorena Vilela
