The 2022 Institute of Asphalt Technology (IAT) Annual Conference was, for the first time, hosted by the Northern Ireland Branch.

The Conference gave members the opportunity to look at what is happening within the Asphalt related sector across UK, Ireland and Europe. This event, chaired by IAT NI’s John McQuillan, was originally scheduled to take place in June 2020 and after numerous delays and restrictions due to Covid-19 it finally went ahead recently, with around 120 delegates from right across the industry in attendance at the Titanic Building in Belfast. Papers included a Dublin Airport Case Study, with other topics focusing on the Miami Formula 1, Implications of Connected and Automated Driving for Road Authorities, and Innovative Maintenance Solutions at Stansted Airport.
