Coach Club Knows How To Throw A Party!
The neighbors on Coach Club Drive decided it was time for a good old-fashioned block party. Craig and Penny Ryan, John and Kathy Drugan, Frank and Suzy Whitmore and Judy Lyons along with the incredible Johnny Danger Live rocked the block with some classic rock and country hits. To help fuel the crowd, (estimated over 200) the El Heredero Taco Truck was on hand serving up the best tacos this side of Ensenada. Adult refreshments were available and Jerry, the Ice Cream man, was there with his famous soft-serve ice cream.
The energetic crowd ranged from two-years-old to 90. Johnny Danger Live set up inside the Ryan’s port which also became the dance floor. Somehow, the Elvis glasses and sideburns started appearing everywhere and, as it got darker, glow sticks were passed out to the crowd. The dancing continued to about 6:30 pm when the music stopped and a lot of the neighbors stayed around to enjoy the camaraderie. Pre-Covid, these type of parties used to be the norm and this one was exceptionally fun for everyone involved. Let’s do it again! Photos on page 30.

Manager’s Corner January 20, 2023
Dear TGO Community,
100 D Plantation Drive • Titusville, FL 32780 • 321-268-9767
Our community is buzzing with activity everywhere. Our CSA office is also buzzing with bar code requests, service tickets and other inquiries. Thank you for your patience as our CSA team works hard to stay on top of these high-season requests. We are here to serve you, and our team enjoys the challenges that this busy season presents us.
I received some good news early this week about our garbage collections. Waste Management shared that our new garbage compactor is scheduled for delivery and installation later this week. Since you will be reading this article on Friday, I expect you will find our shiny, new compactor up and running. The new compactor has slightly larger capacity and hopefully will serve our community well for many years.
There has been a lot of discussion about CSA’s Architectural Review Committee (ARC) recently, so allow me to share some information and provide my thoughts here. The purpose of the ARC is to maintain the integrity of our community and protect homeowners’ property values. The need for specific ARC requirements was written into TGO’s governing documents by the developer to maintain quality, harmony and uniformity throughout the community. Perhaps the clean and uniform feel of this community is what originally attracted you here. The first ARC guidelines booklet was two pages long, but today’s ARC guidelines booklet is 25 pages. These guidelines govern the exterior of your home and landscaping, not interior changes. Every year this booklet is reviewed, updates are made, and the CSA Board must vote to approve the changes. The booklet is available free of charge in the CSA office.
Homeowners must submit an ARC application prior to exterior changes to their home or property. The elected ARC Directors review all applications, and sometimes they have the unpleasant responsibility to deny an ARC application that doesn’t conform to our guidelines. ARC may sometimes ask homeowners to submit more information or measurements so they can properly discuss the specific changes or improvements that are proposed. The ARC Chairman and committee doesn’t have authority to modify, suspend or waive the ARC guidelines, their job is to enforce the guidelines and assist homeowners in making improvements that work within the guidelines. Most recently, ARC referred some cases to the CSA Board where homeowners have expanded their property and landscaping over the county-required setbacks, and in a few cases, homeowners expanded beyond their actual private property boundaries onto common area land. Unfortunately, no exceptions can be made by ARC or even the CSA Board in these cases, the violations must be corrected. The ARC guidelines certainly put restrictions on our owners’ use of their land, but consider the alternative of not having guidelines. We’ve all seen communities that look rundown because rules are either ignored or were never set in place. I have a very personal example. My family and I live in a 60-year-old community called Royal Oaks in the City of Titusville. No HOA or ARC guidelines were set in place by the developer of Royal Oak. Many owners in my community have different standards on exterior maintenance and lawn maintenance. You can find recreational vehicles, work trucks, trailers, and boats parked on lawns. My family and I love our home and community, but it’s certainly easy to see the value of HOA restrictions and ARC guidelines as I compare my neighborhood to TGO.
This is election season for CSA Board members and ARC Committee members. Please plan to meet the candidates prior to our January board meeting beginning at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18. The annual election will take place on Monday, January 23 and details are in this issue of The Happenings.
Sincerely,
Billy Specht CSA Manager6 Hole Avengers

If there’s no shoulder on the road, simply stop to allow an emergency vehicle to pass. We have all been driving long enough to know this. Please, when you see emergency vehicles coming in with lights flashing, pull over and let them pass! It could be your loved ones they are here for.

AED Basics (Automated
External Defibrillator)
Have Someone Call 9-1-1 While You Operate AED
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that diagnoses incorrect heart rhythm patterns that could potentially be life threatening. The device treats the condition with electrical shocks.
AED use requires minimal training because an electronic voice prompts the user through each step. If you are helping a person who collapsed and you’re unsure if a heart attack is the reason, don’t hesitate to use the AED. Every minute counts. The device determines if the patient needs an electrical shock or not. Simply place the AED pads on the patient’s bare skin, one on the right upper chest and the other on their lower left side. No one else should be touching the patient because false readings could result. The AED will advise you, the device operator, what to do next.
TGO has seven AEDs located at CSA buildings.

TGO FIREWISE INFORMATION
RESIDENTS REDUCING WILDFIRE RISKS
Visit tgocsa.org to view Firewise video and brochure or TGO Firewise on Facebook
Remember, you must have written permission to remove any living shrubs or trees beyond your property line. Contact CSA if you have questions about removal and consult the Architectural Review Board before making landscape changes.
Evacuation Drill - January 27, 2023
by Ed BrownNo, you are not leaving TGO on that date. A drill (practice for evacuation) will be conducted by Management, The Firewise Committee and our Safety Patrol to reenforce and fine tune our evacuation procedures and radio techniques. The training scenario will be for a wildland fire that has crossed the fire break, represented by the golf cart Nature Trail and is advancing on the Library! Residents of TGO are not expected to participate but they will be briefed on the outcome of the drill and lessons learned. This briefing and the lessons learned will be shared in our Firewise article in the following issue of “The Happenings.”
Some firefighters themselves will be on display if not in use fighting a fire or responding to EMS calls. They will be happy to answer your questions regarding the equipment, training, fires in general and brush fires and wildland fires in particular. This question/answer session and equipment displays will be conducted in the Manor parking lot, as in previous years. Please take advantage of this rare opportunity to get to know the men, women, and equipment of YOUR fire service, Brevard County Fire Department!
Evacuation is one of your survival strategies in the event of a natural disaster involving TGO. A hurricane would come to mind. It would offer the greatest opportunity for preparation time based on a time line supplied to us by the science of weather forecasting. Those forecasts are increasing in their accuracy, however they still require the resident to decide whether to leave or stay. A TORNADO, by comparison, gives you minutes to seconds of lead time to get your family into a home shelter! A HAZMAT SPILL: minutes to hours; a FLOOD: hours to days. All these events can be mitigated with minutes, to hours, to days of survival preparation.
Your decision is a fantastic game. It is the ultimate gamble. Keep in mind, however, that your survival gamble will not only affect you. Most importantly, It will affect your family member’s and pet’s health and safety, and by your example, will also influence the survival decisions of your friends and your neighbors.
BE AWARE. BE INFORMED. BE SAFE... and BE FIREWISE!

Your TGO CSA Patrol
Did You Know?
When you are approaching a golf cart crossing area such as where Hole 1 crosses on Plantation Drive to Hole 2, you (the car) have the right of way?
Anywhere a golf cart path crosses a road, the golf carts have a STOP SIGN before crossing the roadway. They must stop and allow cars to pass. Even if you think you want to be polite and wave the cart across, you could actually be causing a potential accident.
If you stop and wave a cart across the street, the people behind you might try to go around you, and the people approaching you from the other direction have no idea why you stopped, so they will not be stopping, causing the cart to be in the middle of a hazardous situation.
PLEASE, when approaching a golf cart crossing, go slow, be cautious, but don’t stop.
CUSTOM BUILT HOME, ONE OF A KIND
individualityatitsfinest
Concrete block on the first and second floor provide exceptional strength and security from all of the elements. You ’ll find beautiful marble mosaic, travertine tile throughout the down stairs. In the main kitchen are beautiful 42 inch cabinets, solid surface counter tops, a Viking range and oven, built in wine chiller & large butler pantry. In the dining room are 3 gorgeous chandeliers with soaring open ceilings and a gas fire place. Through the living room you will find the 2nd kitchen designed for entertaining. An enclosed and air conditioned back porch allows for ample sunlight. Instead of taking the stairs you can use the private elevator which opens into a huge living room/loft, where you’ll also find a second utility room, additional flex space, and the huge master suite. This is truly a one of a kind home you must see!

“Tom and Shelley are experts in the hearing field. they know what they are talking about and back up what they sell. Good product, excellent service, highly recommended.” – PS
“My wife and I visited Contentment Hearing Care because of recommendations by others in our community. The facility environment was friendly, convenient, and inviting. Tom Contento, explained about hearing loss and why something should be done to improve hearing to prevent or lessen some of the side effects of continuing hearing impairment. A series of tests were performed to determine the nature and types of hearing loss and the results were thoroughly explained to us in layman's terms, which made it very easy to understand and to make decisions. We are extremely pleased with the results and would highly recommend Contentment Hearing Care to others.” — GJ

LIB– Library NC Nature Center PM Plantation Manor PV PavilionNATURE CENTER UPDATE
The Nature Center President, Dolly Akers gave an update on the building on December 31.
We have 17 calendars left. (Editor’s Note: Call Pat Dick 321-848-2813 if you are interested in purchasing one.)
Nature Center cleaning started on Thursday, December 29, 2022. It will take a couple more days to complete. All going well.
1) The two broken windows have been replaced.
2) The fabric skirts on the museum display cases have been washed and pressed.
3) All the furry/feathered animals have been taken off the walls and will be cleaned by our curator, Nancy Clark.
4) Will be replacing any of the broken items inside the building (clock, bulletin board, calendars, chair cushions, and first aid kit).
5) Window screens have been removed and have an estimate to replace.
6) It is under consideration to refresh the inside of the NC with new paint on the walls and trim. This will need approval by the BOD.
CLEANING NATURE CENTER ANIMALS
Our Curator. Nancy Clark, will be cleaning the animals which were hanging on the walls. Cleaning of the animals is a tedious and laborious job as a very soft paint brush will be used so as to not damage the fur or feathers. Thank you, Nancy, for taking such good care of our taxidermy animals for everyone to enjoy.
ENJOY THE OUTSIDE OF THE NATURE CENTER
The Nature Center building is still closed but you can enjoy one of our beautiful Florida sunshine Winter days by having a picnic on the picnic tables and walking our two trails located close to the building. The Juba Interpretive Trail and the Mattila Trail are both open and ready for use. The Juba Trail is .33 mile long and the Mattila Trail is 1.2 miles.
WILDLIFE RESCUES
There were 12 rescues in the fourth quarter and a total of 64 rescues for 2022. Please call Sandy Juba at 321 -543 -0502 for wildlife rescues including honey bee rescue s. Thank you Sandy Juba, Betty Salter and Nancy Clark for rescuing our wildlife. You are appreciated!

DID YOU KNOW?
“Groundhog Day began as a Pennsylvanian German celebration in the 1800s in Pennsylvania. Its origins date back to ancient European weather lore, when a sacred bear or badger was the weather predictor instead of the groundhog. Groundhog Day falls on February 2nd each year. Today, Groundhog Day is celebrated with a groundhog prediction, festivities, food and speeches. According to Groundhog Day folklore, if the groundhog emerges from his burrow and sees his shadow (sunny morning), winter will last another six weeks. If the groundhog does not see his shadow (cloudy morning), then spring will arrive early.” www,softschools.com
