THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD (year C) 7/8 MAY 2016

Entrance Antiphon Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking in the sky? The Lord will return, just as you have seen him ascend, alleluia.

After 40 days during which Jesus showed himself to the apostles with ordinary human features which veiled his glory as the Risen One, Christ ascended into heaven and was seated at the right hand of the Father. On this feast of the Ascension of Our Lord we reflect on the mandate that we should “Go out to the whole world and proclaim the Good news.” On this day, Catholics are encouraged to pray for all those professionals who work in the field of communications. The Catholic Communications Network seeks to support the Bishops in their key national priorities in education, combating human trafficking, life issues, safeguarding, prisons, interfaith relations and vocations, to name but a few. Your support has asked through prayer (prayer cards are available at the back of the church) and through your generous support to the second collection today. “The Church is called to practise mercy as the distinctive trait of all that she is and does. What we say and how we say it, our every word and gesture, ought to express God’s compassion, tenderness and forgiveness for all. Love, by its nature, is communication; it leads to openness and sharing. If our hearts and actions are inspired by charity, by divine love, then our communication will be touched by God’s own power.” Pope Francis World Communications Day

FEAST DAYS THIS WEEK Fri. 13th May: Our Lady of Fatima. Sat. 14th May St. Matthias – Apostle FR. MARK would like to thank everyone for their Masses, prayers, cards and Good wishes. “I feel as though I am being borne on wings of prayer. With my most sincere thanks and with love and prayer. Mark CP”
