We thank God for this very courageous (the new Archbishop is only 50 years old !) and inspiring appointment. He has been one of the auxiliary bishops in Westminster for the past three years and previous to this was vicar-general in Leeds. He has also taught moral theology at Ushaw Seminary. We are offering Mass for him on Thursday and Fr Patrick will represent the parish at his installation. Let us pray that for him and ask God’s blessing on his vital ministry The Installation will be broadcast live and if you have the necessary hardware, here is where you find it; the broadcast starts at 11.50 a.m. https://youtu.be/wemICGkP6pA

You will all know by now that Blessed John Henry Newman is to be canonised in Rome on October 13th. This will be a great occasion for both the Catholic and Anglican Churches and is sure to bring a great blessing on both. We are delighted that Fr Malachy is planning to be present at the canonisation. What may possibly have escaped your attention is the introduction of the cause for canonisation of another Englishman, a veteran (with distinction) of World War Two, a convert to the faith, a man who gave his life to the care of lepers in what is now Zimbabwe, a man who described himself as a “strange vagabond of God”. He is John Bradburne, who was killed by rebel forces 40 years ago after refusing to leave the lepers he was caring for. His cause will be formally introduced on September 5th, the anniversary of his death. Why not google him! THANK YOU for the great response to last week’s appeal for SURVIVE. Please hand in any outstanding gift-aid donations and we will send the £1100+ contribution off this week. Building a better Marriage Saturday 28th September 2019 in Selsdon SW London.
