PENTECOST SUNDAY (year C) 14/15 MAY 2016 Entrance Antiphon The Spirit of the Lord fills the whole world. It holds all things together and knows every word spoken by man, alleluia,

Pentecost saw the birth of a new community, the Church. This is the day the apostles left the upper room, where they had been hiding for fear of the Jews, and went out fearlessly to preach the Gospel to the world. They could not have done this if they had not received ‘power from on high’, that is, the Holy Spirit. We too need the Holy Spirit in order to live as Christians. MAY PROCESSION IN HONOUR OF OUR BLESSED LADY Sunday 22nd May 4.00pm – In our church grounds.

THE NATIONAL SHRINE TO ST. JUDE – The Carmelites at Faversham are inviting pilgrims to visit the Shrine on Saturday 28th May for a Summer Event. Also, candles can be lit for an intention, please see notice in porch. PARISH/ HOLIDAY RETREAT to Minsteracres 13 – 20 August. An opportunity to come closer to the Lord through gentle spiritual input, companionship and trips out. Enjoy the peace, tranquillity and spirit of Minsteracres, situated on the beautiful border of Northumberland and Co. Durham, with afternoon trips to local places of interest and a full day out to Beamish; a fascinating open air museum of life in the North‐East in bygone days. There are places available on the coach for this year’s visit. For more information contact Deacon Barry (01227 368685).
