THE MEDITATION GROUP – Back to normal again – Tuesday 2.15pm and Thursday 7.30pm (Upper room) WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE CARE of CREATION –Thursday 1st September. This is a more vital need than ever as global warming increasingly takes its toll. Already the target set at the Paris Climate Change Summit last December, of limiting global warming to 1.5% above pre-‐industrial average temperatures, is being seen as probably unattainable. PAUSE FOR THOUGHT: THE GOSPEL this weekend ends with these words: “When you have a party, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame the blind; that they cannot pay you back means that you are fortunate, because repayment will be made to you when the virtuous rise again.” Consider this: ‘For every 10,000 members of the population, Sweden last year took in 160 refugees. For the same period, Britain took in 6. Five million people have left Syria, equal to the population of Scotland.’ What is happening in our country about the promises our government made to welcome an average of 5,000 refugees for the next four years?
