Mark & The Community Christmas Day Sun. 25th Dec 10.00 People of the Parish Adoration is Thursday this week not Wednesday 10.30am – 12.00 Parish Carol Service this Sunday Afternoon: which many “regulars” say really gets them into the true spirit of Christmas. A collection will be taken at the service for the Catholic Children’s Society. Seasonal refreshments will be served afterwards. CHRISTMAS TREE – STARS OF COMFORT & JOY – As you will see we have a Christmas tree by the Lectern. At the back of Church you will find some stars. Everyone is invited to write their ‘Tidings’ on a star/s and hang on the tree at our Carol Service. The title being Comfort & Joy – (perhaps a thanksgiving tiding on in memory of someone).


SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: WE WILL HAVE VISITING CLERGY FOR CONFESSION ON WEDNESDAY 21 DECEMBER , 7.00 – 8.00 pm. We do hope that many will take this opportunity to let go of burdens and to clear the way for a more joyful celebration of Christmas. FR MALACHY’S DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION: What a great evening we had: a full church with many members of Fr’s family, friends he has made in Walderslade and Sittingbourne where he has regularly said Mass; Sisters from Sturry Convent, members of the Huguenot congregation from Canterbury Cathedral and friends from St Helens. The Hall was overflowing with visitors and at least 200 were able to enjoy the excellent fare provided by our new team of cooks and helpers. Truly a night to remember and Fr Malachy is hugely grateful for all your kindness to him. THE MEDITATION GROUP – Tuesday 2.15pm and Thursday 7.30pm (Upper room) PLATEA: Our new parish magazine has now been distributed to all the addresses we have on our parish database. If you did not receive a copy it will probably mean we do not have your address; there are forms to be filled in in each of the pews if this is the case and there will be a copy of the magazine for you as you leave after Mass. Thank you for your co-operation. And sincere thanks to all who delivered the magazine!!

CHURCH – ‘BIG CLEAN’- We are very grateful to Audrey & her band of cleaners. The “Big Clean” for Christmas will be on Tuesday 20th December at 10.30am. All team members are asked to attend. The rota for 2017 will be available. New members are always welcome. Please consider joining us. The Wednesday Lunch - We had a fantastic time last week at the Wednesday lunch club’s Christmas meal. The 2 course meal was superb. Much fun, food friendship and festive cheer were on the menu. Don't be lonely, come and join us the next meal is Wednesday 11th January 2017. Call Samantha on 07711270646 FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2017: Children aged 8-9. Application forms available from the Back of church.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY GROUP Preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus. This Sunday the 18th Dec., the children will be involved in making Christingles. The Children’s Mass will be on Christmas Eve at 6:00pm. At this Mass we will act out the Christmas story during the gospel, with the children who attend children’s liturgy miming the parts. There are no words to learn as Deacon Barry reads the gospel while the children act it out. Today we have a short practices after the 9:30 mass. Please pick up a form at the back of Church if you wish your child/children to take part.

Cleaning Group – The regular weekly cleaning teams will start again the week commencing 2 nd Jan 2017 with team (A). Other rotas can be found in the porch The Collections for last week were: 1st Collection - Loose change £396.60 Gift aided £623.00= £1,019.60 Second collection for Church flowers - £211.17 NB If you are a UK tax-payer then you can gift-aid whatever you offer. To gift-aid your offering please fill in one of the forms at the back of Church.

Adoration every weekday: One hour, from 8.30-9.30a.m. Also Saturday morning, 10.00 to 11.00. There is a further opportunity each week: at Convent Chapel, 25 Western Esplanade from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m. on Fridays.
