We hope very much that he will be back with us in the course of this week. He is most grateful for your prayers and loving concern. LENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRAYER: Sundays at 4.00pm: Rosary, Evening Prayer and Benediction; Fridays: Mass at 7.00pm followed by Stations of the Cross. There are also Deanery Talks on the Three Pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. They take place at St Teresa’s, Ashford, starting this Monday 6th March at 7.00 for 7.30 pm when the theme with be Prayer. THIS WEEKEND: CAFOD Lent Family Fast Collection – the needs of people in Yemen, East Africa and South Sudan are particularly urgent –they count on your generosity. Christian Meditation each Tuesday at 2.15pm in the Upper Room & on each Thursday at 7.30pm (Upper Room) NEXT WEEKEND we will welcome a Columban priest who will be here to preach the annual appeal on behalf of the Foreign Missions.


HOUSE MASSES DURING LENT: We are still open to people offering their home for a House Mass: please contact Fr Mark or Fr Patrick. COMPANIONS IN PRAYER Our next meeting is on Wednesday 8th March at 7pm at the ‘Star of the Sea’, 25, Western Esplanade. There will be a talk by Sister Elizabeth Dawson on her work with the Street Children in the Philippines. All companions are asked to join us please bring your companions prayer book. TRAIDCRAFT took £131.11 last weekend. Thanks to our supporters. Next Saturday, 11th March, 9-11am, come to the Co op in the High Street for Fairtrade samples to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight.

Retreat Day at Minster Abbey: The Parish Pastoral Council mentioned a few weeks ago the possibility of arranging retreat days to help deepen our faith. The first one will be on Saturday 25 March and it will run from 10.30 to 4.00pm. We will be looking at St Matthew’s Gospel, which is being read on the Sundays of this year. There are copies of the Gospel available in the shop – please see Sr Corinne. Why not give this a try: the nuns at Minster make us most welcome and we will be joining them for prayer at some point during the day. Please sign up on list at the back of church. AUCTION & IRISH CEILIDH FRI. 17TH MARCH TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE STREET CHILDREN OF THE PHILIPPINES The Sacred Heart Sisters and companions are holding an auction and Ceilidh, Irish evening in the retreat Hall on St. Patrick’s Day. All the proceeds raised will go to the street children in the Philippines where the Sacred Heart Sisters work with the very poor. If you would like to support the sisters, you can do so by. 1. Come along on the 17th March and enjoy an Irish welcome and auction. 2. Buy raffle tickets on sale after all the weekend masses. those wishing to attend is at the back of church. SVP LENTEN APPEAL – The Lenten coin cards are available this weekend after all the Masses. Please complete the card with a £1 coin a week during Lent. The completed cards will be collected on Easter Sunday. FANCY A SATURDAY WALK IN GOOD COMPANY?? There will be a group leaving the grotto area in front of the church on Saturday at 9.30 a.m., walking to King’s Hall and back, calling in to the Catholic Club for a hot drink and leaving time for anyone who wishes to attend the 11.05 Mass. Why not give it a try? The walk is wheelchair-and buggy-friendly. CHARITY CONCERT: MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS THERAPY CENTRE, CANTERBURY (MSTC)- 7.30 p.m. 25th MARCH The Hoath Village Singers are holding a concert in aid of the MSTC at the Hoath Village Hall CT3 4LA. The review headline was:” Herne Bay, dark under Syrian storm clouds.” It features a war reporter, partially inspired by the late Marie Colvin,reporting from Syria and recuperating in Herne Bay.
